Why do people always tell others how to feel with regards to the direction the Cubs are going? The Cubs, and Hendry specifically, have repeatedly shown poor decision making ability and priorities in personel matters, especially during the offseason. The time to panic was years ago. It's time for Hendry to do a 180 and make some smart decisions. Before that happens people have the right to feel however they want about what he is going to do. I know they have poor decision making in their history. I'm not telling people how to feel per se, but people who react to an article that provides NO NEW INFORMATION and is filled with spin that it SOUNDS LIKE they both MIGHT sign here.... is a bit much. A lot of what is reported is from the agents. We don't know what negotiations are going on, and who is close to what. I plan on waiting until something is official before bemoaning the move(s).

sounds like Schmidt is off the table. :( Nothing in either of those articles gives any indication at all that Schmidt is off the table. Of course it doesn't....but seriously, if we are close to landing BOTH Meche and Lilly, we ain't goin' after Schmidt....I can guarantee that. Ken Both articles offer nothing new than what was available yesterday. Both Meche and Lilly are speculation and heresay. Why don't we wait until something is announced before hitting the panic button?

I think Hendry needs to make Schmidt his top priority and do whatever needs to get the deal done before accepting deals with Lilly or Meche. Now while that's the obvious opinion of most here, this is why I believe it needs to happen. The Toronto front office stated (on MLB.com) that they would like to sign both Lilly and Meche, and anticipate getting at least one. Now what happens if the Jays DO sign both, and Schmidt is still on the market? Then the Hendricks would be able to ask for the moon from Hendry, because he would have lost out on two other options.

Since when? JH has always been steadfast on him being their right fielder. From what I've read, Boston wants him at SS and the Mets want him at 2b. Again, I don't believe Hendry has actually said that he needed to be platooned. It might have been insinuated (and not very clearly), but never a flat-out statement. Agreed.

I completely agree; to which I am mildly annoyed when some posters in this thread jump to conclusions based on those exact "guesses", and start posting lineups and rotations. While on its own it's not entirely bad (and what message boards are for), it is the emotional flipping out that gets me.
