  1. Here's a thought: Assuming A-Ram walks... Assuming JH would have had money to spend -- with the Trib perhaps not thinking A-Ram would opt out -- thus locking in the $ for the next two years... Wouldn't it be a good idea to give that money to Z? Now that I look at what I typed, it sounded better in my head, but the point being A-Ram's money going to Z's extension, should he sign elsewhere.
  2. I'd like to go on record to say that I don't miss Sammy at all. What bothers me, is the lackluster way they've gone about replacing his production.
  3. He does the pre-game on CBS, so he'll be on tv to tell us how much of a chance the Dolphins have.
  4. Because he's getting stuffed by one of the worst run defenses in the league. He's only had 8 carries. He's had 3.3 ypc. Jones has had worse than that this year. I was referring to that last drive.
  5. Because he's getting stuffed by one of the worst run defenses in the league.
  6. Jon, are you still going to do highlights even though YouTube is lame now? Yeah. I'll just create a different account and not give it a title, description, or tags that would make it searchable. What did I miss?
  7. So winning a World Series in 2002 and 2006 isn't good enough?
  8. This Cardinals team is worse than the Cubs '03 team. I'm still having trouble conceiving that they made it this far. Damn Mets.
  9. Um... I'm fully opening up myself to a verbal beatdown, but didn't a certain northside team think they were going to win a series, while up 3-1? *ducks flying objects* HOWEVER ... to switch the focus back to the Cardinals... they too had a 3-1 lead in a World Series and lost 4-3 to the Royals... THE ROYALS!!
  10. Tim, I think these are all great ideas/improvements/additions/etc. At first thought, I wasn't confident I could write well enough for a blog, but I've been meaning to start one. NSBB would be good motovation to get the writing ideas going. :)
  11. ... you knew that Dusty and Neifi would be part of the World Series, you might think it was a good year. Of course one is part of ESPN and the other got an undeserving roster spot over Chris Shelton. *sigh*
  12. Isn't it a little early for this thread? Two weeks of discussion before kickoff?
  13. The description of the transactions forum is: A forum for discussing trades, free agent signings, etc. - either real or imagined. So there isn't a thread, but there is a forum. And speculated transactions should go there.
  14. Trying to stick to the topic... who knew lo' those many years ago, when I watched The Baseball Bunch as a kid, that one of the guests would be the future Cubs manager? I wonder what that VHS tape would go for nowadays? *goes to search through tape collection*
  15. Wasn't that the case in '06? I don't have the numbers in front of me, but off the top of my head, I can't imagine the other 5 teams had a bigger payroll. And what did that get us?
  16. Not to mention the fact, if you work there, and there's Cubs news, you have to report it. Unless you want to travel down the same road Julie Sweica (sp?) did.
  17. Can we stop bashing The Score for having football coverage? That's what they normally do on Sunday during the regular season. Here's the lineup for today: 12:00am - 6:00am Sporting News 6:00am - 7:00am Pro Football Weekly 7:00am-8:00am Early Action 8:00am-9:00am Fantasy Football with Super Fan Dan and Jeff Agrest 9:00am - 12:00pm Hub Arkush Noon-7:20pm Sporting News Radio-Around the NFL 7:20pm - 10:30pm Sunday Night Football: Oakland Raiders vs. Denver Broncos 10:30pm-11:30pm Latin Baseball Piniella isn't even a "done deal" yet, so it's not like they would break their contractual obligations for a "non-story".
  18. As I mentioned on another message board... Can we keep Yankees off planes, please?
  19. I'm hoping this is more for discussion than transactions... so I'm putting this thread here. If JH is told (or feels) that he needs to spend money to get quality players to "win now", and he fills our holes with said players... how would the '07 Cubs be different from the '06 Yankees; whom also went with superstars? Now granted, we'd have Murton, Cedeno, Theriot, Hill, etc., etc. ... not to mention the fact we wouldn't have All-Stars up and down the lineup either ... BUT ... would it really be all that different? And if that's the case, is it really the right route to go?
  20. There are already a couple "be the GM" threads.
  21. Who are you kidding, you'll be back. I've been preparing to do without this team if they retained Baker. Piniella doesn't really do anything for me... so I'm taking a "wait and see" approach.
  22. I'm going to curb my anger until (a) it's made official and (b) I will wait until the off-season transactions. If I'm not impressed... I may be finding other ways to spend those 5-6 months in 2007.
  23. I know it's a bad source, but George Offman just said during the 12:30 update that he's "heard" that Detroit plans to pursue Bonds heavily this winter. Leyland was his manager in Pittsburgh.
