  1. DJ, any thoughts on any of the Practice Squad guys around the League? Of the ones I seen, I remember liking Everett Dawkins (FSU) and Cody Larsen (Utah St?).
  2. Minus the Patriots and Saints, that's another horrible week.
  3. Using the old Ben Christensen approach? :D
  4. luckily I had Graham
  5. Heading into yesterday, the Bears offense had an Aikman eff. rating that was tied for 13th in the NFL on offense, last year it was 28th.
  6. They had Greg Olsen and couldn't do anything with him. Lovie couldn't coach offense, and couldn't hire a coach that could coach offense. There's no reason to assume what you're saying is true. Mike Martz refused to use a TE. Was he the OC last year? The biggest problem with the offense last year was the horrific OL play. You don't believe that fixing that issue would have made the offense better without any other changes (taking Bennett out of the equation)? You're ignoring the pace to which Cutler is getting rid of the football which is a philosophy change espec from Martz. The offense scheme has dramatically, while its not as downfield as Id like, theyre using Forte much more efficiently.
  7. Not looking forward to this weekend.
  8. Its going to suck leading the league in points while having the worst overall record. Thanks Banedon. :good: for saving the best week of the year for me.
  9. Despite Tebow being drafted in the 1st, I can't see Manziel going in the 1st half of the 1st rd. I do feel a team will make the same mistake as Tebow, although he's a better prospect than Tebow. He'll be the 5th QB taken, maybe 6th.
  10. I feel it deserves it own thread: Way to send a message Ole Miss... http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/04/ole-miss-football-players-punished-by-school-for-theater-slurs/ No suspensions, nothing yet. If this is the extent of punishment handed down, it sends quite the message. We might change the mascot from Col. Sanders to a bear but when push comes to shove about a separate inequality, we'll do nothing. Let me know where those family values are with Freeze? Suspend the players, gutless morons. That does nothing to stop this crap from happening again, which they don't seem to care about. Who knew the Laramie Project would be a comedy?
  11. Yeah, as much as I hate Dusty, I have little doubt he's telling the truth. It's not that I doubt him...I know that there's plenty of racist [expletive] out there...but the fact that he brings it up every time he gets fired is just bad timing. It just makes it look like whining/excuse making. Agreed, you can't infer that that stuff had anything to do with the firing. Especially if he takes one for the team, or the hitting coach in this instance.
  12. Pryor, Wallace, Jackson. Givens and Blackmon.
  13. Maybe I'm being overly pessimistic but I can't see Colorado giving up CarGo and not getting any proven positional players in return. I'm assuming the payroll will be 90-95 mil next year. 1) Sign Tanaka, obviously he bumps up the rotation in a major way, going to overspend in a bidding war. Not including the posting fee, I have him at 5/60. 2) Without being able to trade for a superior position players, I see them going for balance in the line-up with guys willing to sign for less than a 4 year deal which eliminates Ellsbury, Choo, Cano, etc. nor would I want to commit those years at this point. I would like to see them sign Cruz at 2 yr. 10 mil per. as well as Kelly Johnson to play 2B. 3) Bring back Sweeney at 3.5 and Schierholtz at 5.5 mil. Rotation: Tanaka-12mil Jackson-11mil Wood- 3 mil Samardzija- 4mil Arrieta - 600K Bullpen: Villanueva- 5 mil Russell - 2 mil Parker 700K Rondon 550K Strop 900K Rusin 400K Hanrahan 4 mil (will miss much of '14 from TJS) (this is a 2yr deal) Fujikawa 4 mil Line up vs. Rh'ers: Sweeney-CF 3.5 mil Castro-SS 4 mil Rizzo-1B 1.25 mil Cruz-LF 10 mil Schierholtz- RF 5.5 mil Valbuena- 3B 1.25 mil Castillo-C 900K Johnson - 2B 4.00 mil Bench: Lake (util/platoon vs. lh'ers)- 625K Olt/Gamel (corner IF)- 400K Bogusevic (5th Of'er) - 600k Barney (mi/platoon vs. occas lh'er)- 1.25 Brayan Pena (backup C) 2.5mil Obligations: 13 mil to Soriano 2 mil to Soler Payroll: 98.920
  14. Why? The Cubs for the next 3-8 years is likely to be a better job than the Yankees. I think it's assumed the Cubs aren't turning into Miami.
  15. I'd rather roll the dice with Martinez or Lovullo. YA DON'T SAY He'll likely never manage again after what happened.
  16. I'd rather roll the dice with Martinez or Lovullo.
  17. NY still hasn't allowed the Cubs to speak to Girardi. We'll see if that is one of Girardi's demands. Girardi while he has leverage, still can't overplay his hand, unless he's certain the Cubs want him, he'd be willing to go to the booth, or to a different organization.
  18. No love for Bosworth?
  19. Portland would be my first choice.
  20. How has Reiff done this year? just seen him last week and it wasn't the greatest. I ask this b/c I was pissed the Bears didn't draft him.
  21. That was a horrible display on Sunday but minus last Sunday, I don't think he's been that bad. edit: Looks can be deceiving, after looking at the numbers, it's definitely worth looking into.
  22. Mcclellin has been horrible out there. He should be out there only on 2nd or 3rd and long.
  23. Definitely makes sense, comez from the Byrnes background. Curious as far as what happened with AZ.
  24. I hate the fact that ownership would meddle in the coaching search, regardless if the decisions comes down to Theo and Jed.
  25. Ugh Mully and Hanley were throwing out some terrible names this morning, including Ozzie Guillen, Don Cooper and Bob Brenly. I doubt you'll see any under the radar names coming from any radio host or columnist not named Bruce Miles.
