  1. He throws it very rarely for a reason. I think they scrapped it this year.
  2. Jackson's problem is that he has never been able to rely on anything other than stuff, he's never been good at changing speeds or using deception.
  3. Wasn't a bad sequence that AB, he just isn't sharp.
  4. Although he has a horrible approach Lake is one of the best at solid contact on the team.
  5. Bonifacio .500. Last year Castillo led all qualifiers with a .347 BABIP. The Cubs as a team were dead last in BABIP in 2013 Don't you think a lot of that was because we had some really bad hitters. They were probably towards the btm in LD% too. They awful on offense last year, its an obvious correlation.
  6. Rain delays need TWIB, highlights of the '72 A's, or reruns of Welcome Back Kotter.
  7. Maybe over Villanueva not Jackson, they won't make that move with Jackson unless he is Danny Jackson bad.
  8. Watching Lohse do so well frustrates me.
  9. Hopefully this delay is long enough to where they have to pull both starters. Time to watch the Brewers.
  10. I am looking forward to Arrieta coming back. Hits like that show how BABIP can be fickle.
  11. School me: What exactly is BABIP? batting average on balls in play So it basically means that he does not pop up too frequently...right? he either has an obscene LD% or he's really lucky Judging from the naked eye, he hits more solid LDs consistently than I recall anyone else. He has a solid command of the strike zone too.
  12. Yep. And getting too much of the plate. I honestly don't now how he maintains a K/9 between 6 and 7 for most of his career. Now, he's giving up hits with the BBs and with his lack of control and put-away pitch, his productivity can't take it.
  13. Agreed, they had been working him into higher counts and then Edwin swings at the 1st pitch. Unless they're sac. bunting or have a RISP, they should have at least 3 pitches and try and foul some off if poss.
  14. He throws it closer to 35% of the time to LH'ers and its closer to around 15-20% against RH'ers, its his best pitch. Jackson has been sharp so far despite the two runners.
  15. I don't know why Wacha doesn't use the CH against RH'ers.
  16. Proves you wrong about? wacha and no change-ups so far. I am skeptical about Castro's productivity being what it was or greater than his 1st two years.
  17. Let me clarify, the bunting thing is ridiculous though.
  18. That's a solid lineup against Wacha, hope Castro continues to prove me wrong. It's early but unlike Baker and Quade, I haven't see any bad decisions based on flawed logic. This year is similar to two years ago where the bullpen is a main reason why they're not hovering around .500 (small sample).
  19. Probably so, but they are still elite college talents. Is everyone from that class going to look at Poythress and decide to take off? I'm unsure about the Harrison twins as well as Johnson but it's a lock Young, Randle, and WCS are gone. Unfortunately the 15 draft is likely much weaker.
  20. Obviously his recruiting is his biggest strength and he was out-coached yesterday, but he did a great job of getting this team together. He did better performances with UMass than UK, when I say he has done his best job yet, I'm speaking of terms in Lexington. This was a different style of play from Feb. till now, blame should go to Cal for how poorly they started though. I still think the talent on this squad is vastly overrated, the only one I see being a major contributor is Randle at the next level, everyone else is likely a role player. I really like Young's game. He's going to take a couple years, but he's going to be more than just a role player IMO. He will need to step up on defense, he's horrible against the pick and roll, I don't see his ceiling much greater than Snell. Slightly better off the dribble.
