  1. I like the trade, if you can get someone with the ceiling of Burke (for someone who was not liked by the manager who has played poorly and is a FA/possibly getting too old to remain adequate behind the plate), I have no problem w/it. I'd liek it even more if it gives Soto a well deserved shot. Judging a 19yo in his 1st 2 months of proball at an advanced league is premature at best.
  2. Solid. I'll probably have to play 40 minutes of full court press like UAB...... MOJ must not forget, that it was likely during an IM that I 1st mentioned NSBB to him.
  3. Who could hate on this kid? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v436/univ_of_kentucky/P6190343.jpg
  4. He was behind Ben Zobrist to start the year, he just played well and Zobrist struggled and his ABs increased and Zobrist's decreased. He did have to work his way into the starting lineup and deserves that credit for working hard. It's a pleasent surprise for the Rays and hopefully Brignac will get back on track and Harris could become a super utility type of player long-term.
  5. Never claimed it would be, of course, if it's between some jackassical campaign video or music, I'd take the music.

  7. Definitely the right foot, turns you toward 2nd base so your route is more direct, and you get there faster. No. This is wrong. Why the left foot then? He's right and wrong even though there was no explanation, I was always taught with the left foot as well... When making the turn to 2B, you obviously want the "?" shaped turn, but you want to leaning and dipping your left shoulder to make that turn more sharp. But... The most important thing is which feels more comfortable to you, no need to break stride to round the bag. If a batter prefers the right foot, so be it.
  8. Ping Hitter is the term used for a player that can only hit the ball hard w/aluminum.
  9. Flores started and gave up 2 in the 1st and was pulled for Satow. They don't get much smaller than Satow and not much better w/the change either. Satow's change is impressive, it pissed me off when he was fooling the UCLA hitters a few months ago with all that soft stuff. He'll probably have an interesting trek thru the minors like Mil's Demaria (except LH'ed).

  11. That's what I assumed as far as leveling the playing field which takes away from the stat as far as applying to an individual game. Everyone knows that if Oregon St. is up 6-1 in the 3rd against Coppin St., that's prob. higher than the 92% than ESPN flashed on the screen and much less if the roles were reversed. I'd love to know what that ASU little lefty's production has been with two strikes on RH'ed batters, see how effective that 60 changeup has been. He's been knocked around tonight though.
  12. I don't have a complete grasp of the stat, but if it is what I assume it to be.... I probably wouldn't value it much, but since I'm not 100% of the meaning of the stat, I'm indifferent to it. I would like to see greater play by play data in all baseball games.
  13. Kendall is just as bad defensively, teams run on him at will, he doesn't have the same mobility as he once did. His game calling skills have been subpar, the only he doesn't do as much as Barrett is the occasional mental gaff. Looking at a C that is 32/33 yo. hitting horribly thru 60+ games while playing bad defense with a large contract for the remainder of the year on a team that is below .500 with a C at AAA having a great year that would knock the socks off of Kendall defensively, doesn't make sense. (yay run-ons!)
  14. Yep, an upgrade at Catcher for us. We then trade Barrett to the AL. Clears 2 problems with 1 stone. What part of .224/.264/.269 would exactly be an upgrade? Kendall also has 6 PB and 4 errors to Barrett's 8 PB and 5 errors. While Barrett has thrown 17% of the runners, Kendall has thrown out 19%.
  15. The same reasons why they would get rid of Barrett, would now be applied to Kendall. 1)Old in catcher years. 2)Bad defensively. 3)Struggling offensively. Right now, he's Barrett w/out power.

  17. I always heard that the general rule was that if you were going to bean someone intentionally to prove a point, you go below the shoulders and above the knees. It's sad that there actually is a rule of thumb on this, but every pitcher I've heard claims it to be true. Aim for their ass.
  18. You never approve of a player being the 1st to throw punches, but understand why it happened and that when is all said and done, he prob. wishes he didn't either. Throwing between the shoulder blades is about as dumb as throwing at the head. It is pretty common to miss 6 inches from the target, which 6 inches up is the neck & head.
  19. How could guys that made it to the majors be considered flops, including ROYs? There are plenty of high 1st rounders who never made it to the majors w/out getting injured who could be considered busts.
  20. They've progressed to fighting other teams now. I don't have a problem with what Lee did, it's heat of the moment from a pitch at his head. Of course if it was on purpose, hit him in the rear not the head.
  21. recent name changes and avatarlessness are killers for your chances Agreed.
  22. Given his raw power and ability to draw BBs it shouldn't be too hard to some. Of course, trying to convince everyone that he has the skills set the Cubs would likely pursue is another story.
  23. I really think you guys are selling Hoffpauir's ability short 312/350/889 isnt terrible for AAA. Was 268/362/956 last year in AA. Would like higher OPS, but he hasnt shown lots of pop...more of a line drive hitter. Maybe it takes another throw in or another team involved for some hot 3 way...either way i think Atl is the way to go. You're trying to trade for Saltalamacchia. Not Richard Lewis and Andy Pratt. Don't insult Juan Cruz!
