  1. He's still up in the zone with his sinker.
  2. Maybin is #1. After being promoted to AA he has gone... 8/17 4HRs 6BBs 4Ks .471/.609/1.235/1.844 I still like him more than Bruce and Upton.
  3. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2976365 Price is now locked up...
  4. It was cool to see Ronnie Chester on the TV. That kid can flat out fly.
  5. Ankiel has Branyan like potential.
  6. Did anyone enjoy reading curveball? It's pretty heavy as far as the statisical formula side of it. For my money, the best overall baseball book I've ever read as been the Baseball Playbook by Miss. St. baseball coach Ron Polk.
  7. If a player has 4 HRs and still has an AB left, that came is probably out of reach to where his managerial decision to decide whether or not to pitch to him doesn't matter. Maybe a position player would be on the mound at that point.
  8. They also signed Casey Crosby on the same day, productive day for the Tigres.
  9. Now, I'm not saying I know more about these guys than the Cubs, they obviously do but it's just something I question.
  10. well there are people that are just cheering for the team to win regardless of projectability of the players you know. And they have the right to be upset if the Cubs do a move based more on player development espec. with a player of a higher ceiling over someone who helps the Chiefs now.
  11. I don't see the ceiling in Adduci, he's a 42nd rounder from '03, limited power, below avg. approach, limited bat speed. I should be more biased towards him since he's a local product, but at this stage of his career in his 4th full season of pro-ball with his rough season at Daytona, I can't see him being any more than organizational guy. If I was to organize the order of ceiling of the Cubs OF'ers, I'd be inclined to prob. put the recent draftees ahead of Adduci based on what I've seen of Adduci.

  13. I'm surprised they have moved Johnson along quicker than Wyatt, Johnson despite being two years older spent two years in Russia, basically giving him 2 years of college ball, which he struggled last year. As far as ceilings, Rundles is higher than all of the OF'ers mentioned (except Burke), of course those two are the most raw of the group being the youngest and not having played college ball. It just seems odd to have a couple of 4 year major D-I OF'ers at Boise, with one being the odd man out everyday when there are open OF spots at the next level.
  14. Raisin, have they been switching Burke/Wright mostly at DH since Wyatt, Wright/Burke, and Rundle have been playing the OF? If so, it seems odd that Wyatt who has done well at Boise, spent 4 years at Georgia should be ready for Peoria and put Burke into the OF again. It seems odd that they would stick w/Adduci at Peoria.
  15. I like the move, you need these arms to be as fresh as poss. for the next two months. A move like this gets Dempster some extra work and will help limit the work on Howry and Marmol. If any of the 3 haven't been used in 2 days, it gives any of them the chances to get some work and not be tied down score or bullpen role. More importantly, if they have already pitched back to back games they have an extra arm they could use earlier.
  16. Gibson is the greatest C of all-time, regardless of race.
  17. Even to billionaires millions of dollars do matter. It's a negative to the bottom line. It all depends on ego too and why they purchased the team. Baseball isn't very profitable in the grand scheme of a billionaire buying a team compared to other potential ventures of similar cost. They won't lose money, but if their ego plays a role their profit margin can be reduced at the expense of competition and self-valuation (even a word?) You are totally missing the point. I'm saying that until the team is sold the bottom line does matter. After it's sold the new owner can spend all he wants... Not if that owner is running on ego, to someone who loves the sport of competition he might want the best team avail. Of course, Zell and them have to assume that is the minority and keeping lower expenses is what most want.

  19. I'm not forgiving him, I think he's had a good off-season/season trying to correct a couple of poor ones in a row and it likely isn't enough to overcome those. Given the circumstances, with this being his 5th season as GM, the team hasn't progressed as much as it should've given the resources at his disposal.
  20. Honestly, Hendry came as close as possible to maxing out the potential of a team coming off 66 wins even with the budget. But, you can't forget the 66 wins and the 79 wins the previous years as well and who was in charge. I think he just dug himself too big of a hole to get out of this year given the rosters of the past 2 years.
  21. Yeah, it's from PGC. If you want any other reports on Cubs draftees, just PM me....
  22. Kind of surprising but BA wasn't too flattering to him when he was drafted. BA said he threw an 84-88 FB, marginal offspeed stuff and a plus change - that's not the type of stuff that would normally make the Cubs go super slot especially now that it would draw the ire of the commissioner's office, so I wonder if BA is right on their scouting report or there's something else to Russell. This is what I got on him... It def. is a different set of reports as far as velo, who knows maybe BA got their report mostly from a diff. day (a bad velo day) and didn't follow up too much given they didn't project him as a top 5 rounder.
  23. I voted for you, but holy crap that's a southern drawl. You still suck, btw.
