  1. That was the Orange Bowl. The Pats beat the Dolphins there to get to SB XX.
  2. Kendall has been on the bench too long (like Floyd) but before that Kendall has been cold.
  3. If I was putting together the lineup for tonight with those 8 players: Soriano Floyd Lee Ramirez Derosa Jones Kendall Theriot Marquis.
  4. I loathe the fact that people still mock the practice. It's good lineup construction (although admittedly less so in September when teams have 9 pitchers in the bullpen). Explain how it is a good practice to possibly cost Ramirez one at bat a game by pushing him down in the order. He is our best hitter. He should be batting 3rd or 4th. Why not 1st? How do you feel about 3 righties at the top?
  5. He throw some just to keep hitters off balance, but definitely not out pitches.
  6. RHP throws 90-91, will touch 93, locates his FB ok. His second pitch is a cutter, doesn't have a good breaking or off-speed pitch.
  7. If you're counting on SD and not the Cubs beating two bad teams, that should tell you something more important than counting on SD.
  8. Momentum is more of an individual thing in baseball compared to other sports. Of course when it's a pitcher, it usually means he is throwing well and can shut down more offenses. Willis got in a good rhythm, mixed his pitches well, and had one of the biggest strike zones I've seen. I'm usually pro-larger K zones, but that was nuts. Was it momentum? Nah. You don't coach for it or against it. Sometimes players press or relax, it's human nature.
  9. Derosa's ability to play several positions has added extra value over his production. Him playing in RF allowed a hot Fontenot to stick at 2B while Izturis gets traded. Then, once Fontenot cooled off and Murton/Floyd started hitting well in RF, shoftong Jones to CF, he shifted to 2B. When Ramirezwent down, it allowed them to shift him to 3B without bringing in a replacement level player.
  10. coincidence that i've gutted that team and won two championships (while you won zero)? hell no. :D I'm a better scouting director than GM.
  11. Gillick will be missed, he has definitely has a successful career and by all accounts is a stand up guy.
  12. It has to be said..... my two former teams. Concidence? hell no.
  13. 5.Derosa (can play the IF and OF, done everything the team has asked and then some) 4.Theriot (highest baseball IQ on the team, limited tools, gets the most out of his abilities). 3.Pie (most athletic, great attitude, enjoys the game) 2.Lee (gifted talent, good person) 1.Wood (been thru so much, loves the city, wants a WS here, him and his wife have done plenty of charitable donations)
  14. LSU is now in 1st in the SEC West and UF is is in 1st in the SEC E with UK 2nd.
  15. It's wide...and Georgia and Bama are heading to overtime! I'm torn on this one... UGA is 0-1 in the SEC East. Bama is 2-0 in the West, UK can beat UGA later on this year, tough game, but not impossible to win. Roll tide.
  16. Stockstill drafted Marshall so I have to think so. Borderline chance that he seen him. He was not a high draft pick (6th I believe), so Swoope obviously seen him numerous times and prob. the east coast crosschecker once or twice, but it's up in the air as far as Stockstill.
  17. I love Gorzelanny, he shouldn't be with Pittsburgh though.
  18. It's a dumb concept to be holding concerts during the season.
  19. Unfort. I'll be working tomorrow and that weekend.
  20. Some hitters hit better in those situations regardless if it's a greater ability to slow the game down, luck, random variations, or weaker pitching, therefore the tag "clutch hitter" can be applied regardless of greater details need to have substantial proof. The better question is why they are a clutch hitter, if they're a good hitter in any situation, they're much more likely to be better in the clutch. You have to take it with play by play data and determine each AB based on the swings and just as important as that is the pitcher's effectiveness. Which is why being a clutch hitter is a broad and often poorly researched adjective. Is Pujols a clutch hitter? He's a great hitter, but his greatest clutch AB happened to be a hanging slider belt high on a 1-2 count I believe, it's a pitch I expect any ML hitter to drive maybe not 800ft like Pujols but enough to get on base.
  21. Good to see Arkansas shoot themselves in the foot roughing the kicker and the two offsides, which wasn't a miracle, but fortunate for UK.
  22. It all depends on how far he thinks this current crop would progress in the post-season. I won't assume for him, but if you have low expectations once you make the playoffs obviously the potential of getting back someone with potential of a healthy Prior to this current roster adds more excitement for next year than low expectations in the playoffs. Also, for the long-term plans, a healthy Prior is more important than this playoff run.
  23. I think they benched him b/c of that fumble. I was excited during the Air Raid, it was a fun team. I think this is better on paper though. I wish I was back at Commonwealth for this.
  24. Thanks. UK's my official semi-bandwagon team for the year. I always like seeing former doormats become forces to be reckoned with. UK is exceeding my expectations, with the tougher schedule, I expected a 7-5 type of year.
  25. I's going to take a 6 game winning streak to make that happen. Two gimmies, Auburn, Ole Miss, FIU, and South Carolina. if they do that and get to 6-2, they'll get back up there. May not matter with tennessee, MSU and LSU to finish the season. They should go 5-0 in their next 5. USC is at home after that, MSU is a win, UT will be a toss-up being in Knoxville, and LSU will prob. be a loss. If they're 8-3/9-2 heading into LSU, they should be there.
