  1. Hopefully Lou is right, but (I say this w/out ever seeing him pitch) Samardzija seems like the type that would amaze those watching him throw a bullpen session and then disappoint in game action.
  2. If Clady is there. he's likely the best player left on the board, so it's an obvious choice.
  3. You get one OL thru FA and early in the draft and that line becomes good again. One of teh dumber things the Bears did last year (there were several) was not put Beekman into any games, now we still have no idea how he would do going into next year.
  4. IDK, for me, it would depend on what kind of contract they could get him for. Also what other type of OL help you can get in free agency (at a cheaper price, of course). I would put Max Starks, Scott from Indy, and Gross and Wharton ahead of (another aging) Faneca
  5. Says who? People have only speculated this. I really don't think Soriano would be moved down even if they got Roberts, which at this point seems unlikely anyways. That was an assumption... hence the bolded part. So? You said "would likely", which is untrue. That's like me saying Roberts "would likely" bat cleanup if the Cubs got him. Ok, since you assume your opinion is fact. Why would think the Cubs would keep Soriano at leadoff if they acquired Roberts?

  7. They do, but I've never advocated going after Roberts except for the fact the Cubs would likely put him at the top and Soriano in the middle. I do question how much Derosa's approach might change if they hit him at the top.
  8. Derosa got on base just as much as Roberts last season. Derosa isn't being considered hitting leadoff though.
  9. wtf is going on? i'm in the library, and haven't been watching the game. my local high school team could score more than 11 points in a half. I'm assuming my fav. Library? I only got to use Young for one semester (those book shelves spooked me  ) I'm not watching it, but what a way to lay an egg.
  10. Was it UK that came back from 31 or 33 down against LSU years back or was it vice versa? UK came back from that one. I was still in HS, so I'm almost positive it was '93.
  11. Well, I guess UK's modest winning streak is coming to an end. Down by 31 at the start of the 2nd half will do that.
  12. The Cubs need a guy who can get on-base, I don't know if that's a leadoff hitter or just a trait they need more of in their hitters. Brian Roberts might be more of the stereotypical leadoff hitter, but someone like Youkilis would do more hitting leadoff than Roberts.
  13. I wouldn't mind Booker coming back, get the last drops out of that gas tank which is more than what I can say about Moose.
  14. Heh, unlike Izturis, Uribe hasn't regressed defensively due to injury.
  15. I don't know, it's another sub .300 OBP with a lineup with Pie in it and a pitcher and an additional salary to boot..
  16. I'm assuming Juan Uribe and not former Giant SS Jose Uribe. His contract is expensive but he's a better defensive SS while being one of the more frustrating players to watch at the plate, despite having some pop. It would be a tough decision between Theriot and Uribe, although I would lean towards keeping Theriot.
  17. If they would've considered this even a remote possibility, they would've looked into it more. I think them not even looking into it speaks volumes as far as whether or not they feel Derosa could play SS in other than an emergency/give Theriot a day off type of role (assuming Cedeno isn't avail).
  18. Hester isn't ready for that role and Bradley is too far into that dog house for whatever reason. They need playmakers on offense, I'd rather see Jackson than Kelly.
  19. I'd rather take Malcolm Kelly. I'd draft Jackson ahead of Kelly. Why? I really don't know that his slight build will handle the rigors of the NFL and as someone else said, he loses some of his value on the Bears since Hester is a better returner. He's more explosive and athletic than anyone in the draft, Kelly is more of as possession WR and Jackson is the HR threat. The Bears need someone who can create in open space.
  20. Honestly, I would watch a week of that than a week in Mesa for ST.
  21. Depends on who is there at 18 compared to who would be in there at 14 obviously. All it takes is one person who you have ahead of Brohm that is taken between 15-17 that would make that difference.
  22. I'd probably be happy with Stewart at 14.
  23. I'd rather take Malcolm Kelly. I'd draft Jackson ahead of Kelly.
  24. Raw, if you're on the board at 14, I'd draft you as well.
  25. I would also take Stewart ahead of Jones.
