  1. Insert commercials between 2 of these steps.
  2. Everything falling into place, if SF can ink him, it's a good pick. Skipworth should be next,
  3. They needed to combine TV with the previous pace pre-TV, I can dream.
  4. They should reduce it to 2 minutes (I had to say it again)
  5. This will be the last time in many years that TB will have the 1st pick.
  6. Two of my fav. days of the year are upon us....
  7. (Christian has the Better FB, shows a feel for a change, slighly better command/control)
  8. Five rounds likely today, ESPN2 will have the first and supplemental rounds. I actually like day 2 better than day 1.
  9. Hunt, Crow, and Cole each have questions about their arm actions, Crow and Cole have the upside and lack of injury to overlook that, Hunt would be a reach either way.
  10. Jake will likely be throwing on Friday 10:00 in Joliet at Silver Cross Field, if he's not throwing (which means Highland is saving for the championship) then he'll be at SS. I'd be shocked if he's not throwing tomorrow, though.
  11. I used safer in context as far as health, rather HS or college. While they've done poorly with HS hitters, their record w/collegiate position players isn't strong either (are Theriot and Brendan Harris the last ones to become ML regulars?)
  12. Sandwich pick? No, there's still plenty of high ceiling players there w/out a red flag (of course, I've never seen him throw). The Cubs have been burned by high ceiling college arms with arm problems going into the draft, the farm isn't in a position to take that risk and would be better off going with safer pick as far as health, even if it meant a slightly lower ceiling. They need quality and quantity.
  13. Soto should jump out. They've obviously done a poor job of developing position players since the Dallas Green era. They should go for the best player avail. (assuming signable for dollar on the muscle) regardless of position.
  14. I thought he could throw 89 MPH's? I read that comment as an average arm for an MLB shortstop, which is certainly still above average compared to the average for MLB players. I assumed likewise.
  15. As long as they can remain competitive yet not able to pass the Cubs, this is a good thing. I'd rather not see them coast until Sept (once Sept comes around, I'd love for them to be in a position to put starters on low pitch counts, Marmol and Wood extra rest, and rest everyday players with a couple weeks left) and potentially lost that edge. It would be great for baseball if both teams play well throughout.
  16. Lidge had arm problems as you mentioned but it wasn't until his his AA season and his 4th arm injury that finally scraped the idea of making him a starter. Same thing with Wagner, he started all of his minor league career, then came into the majors as a long reliever and worked his way up to closer.
  17. Lidge and Wagner were starters in college and early on in the minors, IIRC. As far as Street, he was the last of the 4 1st rd. picks Oakland had, given they had 3 players already taken, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
  18. There aren't many 1st rd. HS Of'ers that aren't toolsy. But, Zach doesn't turn 18 until Sept. and is very signable. His tools project across the board. I'll reserve my opinion on who I want them to take until the draft is over. :)
  19. There would have to be a balancing of contracts, so I'm sure Hughes and his high contract as well as poss. another would have to be included.
  20. Slaughter rule, they won 10-0. Keeping him fresh for Friday, which will get banged anyways.
  21. Throw in Thomas, besides his inability to progress beyond just a leaper or mature as a person, his role would be reduced with someone like Beasley. That would be ideal getting Wade and Beasley, but I can't see it happening.
