If he only has avg. arm strength and that small frame, I can't see him lasting there.

I like the picks of Cashner and Carpenter, indifferent about the Vandy kid and not a fan of Shafer and the little guy (hope they prove me wrong).

Everything, he lost his velo, his changeup and curve were not sharp. He doesn't velo nor a an out pitch. He reminds me of Dave Bush.

Agreed, although I loved the pace of the sandwich picks. It gets much better after the 1st 30.

Compared to Barney last year, this look like a great pick (noting that it was higher than where Barney was selected).

Sure it does, if teams don't feel he is worth what he is asking, then they should pay simply b/c they can? Baseball doesn't have a group think as far as going overslot, Selig would like for them to, but it doesn't occur.

I would have taken him and done that. Hell we signed Jeff S. 29 other teams have passed him up as well, they know better than I do.

Melville wants probably around 2.5 mil to 3.

I'm typically negative towards the Cards drafting, but I don't see them spending 2.5 mil on a sandwich pick nor do I see them drafting a pitcher that high espec. at that price. Yeah I am not that confident they would pick them either, but I am just hoping that since they are local guys maybe it would put some pressure on them to dish out a little cash. I would expect a slotted college arm. :wave:
