  2. I have a hard time believing he's afraid of being hit. Kosuke is "stepping in the bucket" when he swings or planting his stride (front) foot well further than his pivot (back) foot, one of the reasons always associated with that is being afraid to get hit. Whether or not that's true, he ain't giving himself a chance on the outer 3rd of the plate.
  3. They deserve it, IMO. Hendry certainly had his ups and downs till now, but the Cubs for whatever reason (realization that the offense hadn't been working without guys with a knack for getting on or catering to Baker) have changed their approach as far as position players while maintaining certain attributes in seeking out pitchers and rolling 7 on Dempster. Bruce, does this success increase Trammell's possibilities of advancing outside the organization or will he still be bogged down b/c of the '03 Tigers? If not, is he possibly being groomed to take over for Piniella whenever he does hang them up?
  4. I can't believe I missed this. What the hell?? What positives? His analysis of the game situations, for all the negatives (whining, over the top homerism) he's good at breaking down game situations as well as dead air time with talking about his playing days and his teammates/competitors. Listening to Brenly analzye the game has made me appreciate Hawk more b/c I feel Hawk is broadcasting the game to someone over 8 years old, while Brenly either thinks I'm stupid or just learning the game.
  5. Best conference in the league: NFC East or AFC South Eagles Cowboys Redskins Giants or Colts Titans Jaguars Texans Tough choice in my opinion. you're not serious are you? Yeah. Even with Wash. the NFC East dwarfs the AFC South.
  6. Best conference in the league: NFC East or AFC South Eagles Cowboys Redskins Giants or Colts Titans Jaguars Texans Tough choice in my opinion. How is it even close?
  7. That'd be the issue right there as far as whether or not to go thru the revolving door of managers or go for the best future manager ala what they tried to do with Yost. IMO, the best avail. manager out there is Matt Walbeck.
  8. If they were playing a little tight in Sept. this should loosen them up a little bit. Hopefully next weekend, they'll be jumping around again and of course again in late October.
  9. Wilken has long deserved a GM job, hopefully this is his year to obtain it.
  10. What are the chances Randall Cobb beats out Hartline at some point? I have no idea how either is doing (save for looking at their stats), but I heard Cobb replaced Hartline in the game last week. Not high, Hartline got knocked out of the game with an injury. He's a drop back QB with an ok arm and suspect accuracy, he doesn't make mistakes nor big plays. He's not someone that bring UK to 8 wins, but he won't drop them down to 4 either. I see. Had no idea Hartline got hurt. Nevermind, it was Cobb that got hurt. I couldn't remember from last night. Who knows who'll be starting, my guess is with Hartline.

  12. Glad to see the Cats are well on their way to a 6-6 season with Hartline as the QB, the defense is prob. the best it has been under Brooks.
  13. I have never seen anyone carted off with a rib injury before and I haven't heard anything, so any guess is stretching at this point.
  14. Honest question, will the Bears score 3 TDs on drives of 50 yards or more this year in one game? I will be shocked if they do so.
  15. That was the worst 2 minute drill I've ever seen.
  16. How can Carolina read the Bears audible system by the 3rd quarter?
  17. Olsen has to be better than he's been so far, he had an off-season to learn how to block and he hasn't done so. If you can't block, better catch it, b/c an aging Clark is still is there for more plays than you.
  18. The Bears deserved to lose that one. Turner was Howry as usual. They tried running the clock out with 14 minutes left in the 4th up by 4. This conservative [expletive] is ridiculous. They played not to lose on offense and they lost. Orton has no accuracy beyond 15 yards, not that the Bears have anyone beyond Hester who they running screen and slants. How many times did they run a 15 yd. slant in? 3rd and 1, they run a WR screen? 4th and 1, everyone is bunched in and they give it McKie is stupid. Where the hell is the playaction? Stupid ass playcalling.
  19. Progression towards the center? :) I've always liked Hawk, the positives outweigh the negatives. I could deal with the whining and the over the top homerism if I enjoy the overall broadcast. As far as Stone, I still dislike for '04 with him and Chip, but I do enjoy his analysis even with the know-it-all attitude.
  20. I like this duo. While Stone has a less modern view of the game compared to someone like Kasper, he does know how the game works and does bring insight to the game beyond calling sliders low and away with 2 strikes. As far as Hawk, I'm the opposite of most as far as liking him and don't mind him complaining about calls (although he is excessive) as I enjoy that he's not vanilla like every other broadcaster (including what the Cubs have). I would much rather listen to them than either TV/radio for the Cubs.
  21. I'm still concerned about his shoulder heading into this post-season. The way he looked after his last start before yesterday, him grabbing his shoulder like he had between innings and what not. He has such a quick arm that there is alot of tension in slowing it down. I don't think he's 100%, whether it's pitching himself back into 100% or pitching thru pain, he wasn't as sharp as he's been even w/out factoring velo. They have to baby him from here till October as far as stressful outings.
  22. I need to see an ability to pitch a full season before counting on Guzman. He should be given a role in the '09 pen. But with how Lou manages the pen, he'll likely have to be cautious with Guzman and he isn't cautious on role filling productive relief.
  23. The Cubs would be much better off addressing the OF than another bullpen arm beyond Wood. With that said, I wouldn't be against a 7th inning guy sending Samardzija to cont. to progress as a starter at Iowa, but that's separate than allocating most of the avail. payroll on a closer.
  24. Winning a game that everybody (except BBB) had written in as a loss in permanent ink, and doing so in such impressive fashion, has to put them in 8 win territory. Were you predicting 4 before this game? I was predicting 4-5 wins at the start.
  25. They were last year too and look what happened. Playoffs are a crapshoot, over the 16 games Dallas was the best team in the NFC and are likely better this year than last.
