  1. I know some of us have dissed this site a bit, but it looks like somone believes them. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5085956
  2. No I agree with you about the "this year" mentality, I just hope Hendry didn't show his hand too soon and offer up too much for Pierre.
  3. Hmm, I think I can see where Hendry might be going with this. Trade two cheap talents (Walker and Cedeno) and replace them with defensive minded players, (Neifi and Alex NO S Gonzalez). THEEEEN, bat them 1 and 2. Because Gonzalez is better than Macias, who Hendry will resign anyway, due to the naked pictures. Next we can get Juan Encarnacion for RF, and try this Patterson kid again in CF. A lineup of: Neifi! Alex Lee ARAM Barrett Juan Corey Murton This Rumor cannot be true. Please god no.
  4. I wouldn't mind having Pierre. The idea of having a .350+ OBP guy in front of Lee is appealing. That being said I don't think the Cubs should have to give up significant prospects (like Sing) for Pierre. The Marlins are in a salary cutting mode, and Pierre has one year left before free agency. Sing, for instance, hit .276/.404/.538 last year at West Tenn, with 26 HRs and 91 walks! I know it's AA, but come on, Pierre isn't worth trading that kind of potential, especially from a team that is so OBP starved.
  5. How sick would an outfield of Matsui/Giles/Sheff be? And add it to an infield with ARod and Jeter? That's one serious offense. And Giambi. Whoah.
  6. I think one or both of the last two answers are EY. I'm not even close to sure though. Yes on #2, no on #3. EY stole 54 bases in 2000. I wish EY had never left the Cubs.
  7. the sad thing is that we're now going to see 10 replies talking about how much they hope we actually do have that lineup. Sadly, it is better than last years.
  8. So let's assume for a second that this trade goes down and Pierre is the starting CF next season. The leadoff problem is solved, so what is done about SS, 2B and RF? I wouldn't mind seeing Cedeno and Walker at the two infield spots and then another power bat in right. Maybe bring in both Giles brothers? I think getting Pierre could be nice because we a) get to see Cedeno play some short and b) won't see Furcal as a Cub in 2010.
  9. Pierre isn't very good. I like how he wears his socks.
  10. Good call, for all we know someone is laughing at us right now.
  11. Not a bad idea. What would you make up?
  12. A-Rod named AL MVP, per Rotoworld. I hate A-Rod, but I hate the DH even more.
  13. Eh the Mets have been getting ripped off for years. They're pretty much used to it. Maybe they could throw Mo Vaughn in, and pay his salary.
  14. Yeah I guess. But Berkeley is a really good school, right?
  15. From the same site as the Nady for Cameron rumor. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/ This would be an interesting move. Would they do it simply to eliminate the Mets from going after Furcal?
  16. I think the Lowe and Drew contracts were pretty bad.
  17. Yeah I agree, Willy Loma- I mean Sammy Sosa should probably quit the American baseball scene and just wait for his induction into Cooperstown.
  18. No he's the First Base coach.
  19. [quote DOnt worry about what dusty would do, his name will come up in this thread also, and i would be willing to bet he will no longer be the manager... :-k Huh?
  20. Hasn't he only played a few games in RF? I thought I remember that being discussed.
  21. You know, I like where Poudre is going with this. Lets just look at our Lineup so far: 1b- DLee 2b- Walker SS- Nomar 3b- Ramirez LF- Murton Cf- ? RF- Giles C- Barrett That could equate to something like this: Murton Walker Lee Giles Ramirez Nomar Barrett Patterson Patterson is in red, because of course he is hypothetical. But look at that. from 1-7 (you can arrange them any way you like) that is a very solid lineup. You can live with patterson in the 8th spot. Let corey last you untill september (or whenever Pie is ready) and then you dont waste too much cash. You can use the money you save to go pick up a SP or build yourself a pen. Dusty probably believes Murton can't lead off, for a variety of reasons. That aside, it's a very good lineup.
  22. What if a fan decides to throw something at him every game? Is he entitled to go after a fan every game? And you know he hears stuff all the time. Imagine a Cubs/Sox game on the South Side. The fact is, Bradley has had go-arounds with fans, coaches, teammates (albeit just 1 minor incident with a jerk), his wife, and the legal system. It's not that difficult to make judgements about his personality. That being said, I know he's getting help for his problems, and am willing to take a shot on him as a Cub. Damn. I didn't know he had the legal stuff or the spouse stuff. Hopefully he straightens it all out wherever he goes because he is a pretty good ballplayer.
  23. I think having Wilkerson would be fantastic, but do you think they are looking at him as a CF or as a RF? Furcal Murton Lee Giles/Abreu etc Ramirez Wilkerson Barett Cedeno Wow. Wilkerson doesn't have the production numbers to play RF. Bradley or Wilkerson have great numbers for a CF, but would be below average in production for RF. What if you had Bradley in CF and Wilkerson in RF? That's a pretty good outfield trio with Murton.
  24. Yeah really. I mean Furcal is very good but is he that much better than Jimmy Rollins or Edgar Renteria? I just don't understand some of these agents sometimes. Well, since you asked: Furcal: 03: 292/352/443/25 steals (93 percent success) 04: 279/345/414/29 steals (83 percent success) 05: 284/348/429/46 steals (82 percent success) Rollins: 03: 263/320/387/20 steals (63 percent success) 04: 289/348/455/30 steals (77 percent success) 05: 290/338/431/41 steals (87 percent success) Renteria: 03: 330/394/480/34 steals (83 percent success) 04: 287/327/401/17 steals (61 percent success) 05: 276/335/385/9 steals (69 percent success) First, Renteria is mired in an awful decline. That signing is only going to get worse and worse for Boston. Second, Rollins and Furcal are amazingly similar players -- Rollins' numbers are encouraging (for Phillies fans, I guess) because he still appears to be improving, while Furcal has been pretty consistent. I'd probably give the edge to Furcal since he gets on base more, and we all know that's what a leadoff man should really be doing. Rollins got a 5 year/$40 million deal, so Furcal is probably worth (in market value, at least) a bit more than that. Good think Epstein jumped ship before he had to answer for the big money long term deals he gave to Clement and Renteria. I know Boston doesn't seem to worry too much about budgets but I still think they are going to regret those contracts. Don't forget about the deal to Varitek, which I believe is a gamble as well.
