  1. I know this decision has everything to do with injury prognosis. But do you trade Ahmad Bradshaw for Jahvid Best? I'm definitely making the playoffs in my league, so late season is most important.
  2. More importantly, how does a "you're fired" meeting last that long? I would've bet anything he's gone, and probably still would. But 7 hours?
  3. Reasons that I feel confident about beating the Eagles, that may or may not be accurate: 1) Vick hasn't exactly torn up the Bears historically. In his career, he's only beaten the Bears 1 out of 5 tries, is 72-123 for 870 yards, 3 TD's, 3 INT's. 2) The Eagles haven't had an extremely tough schedule. They've only beaten the Rams and Redskins...not exactly brag worthy. 3) Bears will be coming off 2 weeks of preparation, and should have everyone healthy. There's really no situation, other than maybe opening day, that will be better for the Bears to be ready for a game. After this Sunday night game, I think the Bears will be 7 point underdogs. Good luck to them.
  4. Wow. This is quite a game.
  5. A lot of confidence from you guys about the Eagles. I think the Eagles are very dangerous. It would be a very good win for us.
  6. I think you mean Young instead of Marino. Steve Young's probably the worst football analyst out there. You keep hearing how smart Steve Young is. But whenever you hear him do commentary, he sounds like a rambling fool. I get to hear him on the radio a lot here in the bay area. Perhaps the law degree fools people.
  7. Rex Grossman of 2006 would've thrown like 5 picks tonight for the Bears. Kudos to Cutler's performance tonight.
  8. If the O-Line and WRs continue playing this way, this may be the best opportunity yet to get rid of Angelo. I initially welcomed Martz after the likes or Ron Turner and John Shoop. At least Martz can be innovative, I thought. But the guy is so ridiculously stubborn. Stubborn with personnel. And stubborn with his system. The NFL is clearly different than what it was during the greatest show on turf. The Bears don't have Orlando Pace and those receivers. Martz refuses to adapt, but rather wants the team to adapt to him. I say blow the whole thing up. Fire Lovie as far as I'm concerned. Although that's probably not going to happen after the extension.
  9. This frustrated me more than anything in that game. More than the O-Line that got beat repeatedly by the same scheme. More than the receivers dropping passes. More than the terrible challenge. WHAT THE [expletive] WAS THE GOAL THERE? You're down two scores with under a minute to play and you're throwing passes to the middle of the field and then refusing to spike the ball on top of it? I'm a Lovie supporter, but that was [expletive] coaching right there. Terrible challenge is right. Haven't followed the thread, but shouldn't Lovie have thrown the flag on the Calvin Johnson reception and possible fumble. It was called an incomplete pass, but I thought that had a better chance than the ridiculous challenge that he made. It was at least worth a shot. More so than that terrible challenge that he actually made. Lovie is horrible at challenges. No surprise. Wasn't surprised that they lost. Cutler impressed me tonight. He was getting killed back there and made some good plays. Defense was somewhat encouraging after the Panthers game. They had some lapses but its not like the Lions moved the ball at will. But the Bears will never be a contender the way the O line is playing. Absolutely horrible.
  10. lol jesus christ Yeah, nobody here overvalues our players.
  11. Well, considering that Votto would have to be paid a crapload of money and Castro is cheap, its not a fair comparison. But if Castro is ever half the player Votto is, I'd be very pleasantly surprised.
  12. We have a winner. I'm going to Vegas right now and betting big on the Brewers and Tigers.
  13. See if he'll take Julio or Decker. I'd take Finley over Graham.
  14. Possible scenario? He wrote it like it was pure fact that if Epstein sign here it would be a part of a trade for Castro, with no sources or listed reasoning for why he is even saying this in the first place. It's kind of a weird article period. I jokingly mentioned trading Castro and Garza for Epstein a few pages back and people were all up in arms and some ridiculed the post. And I guess now you are hearing this from the real media. Granted Rosenbloom is not a great source for anything, but I even saw both of the above names mentioned in a Boston Globe article. http://articles.boston.com/2011-10-04/sports/30243174_1_ben-cherington-starlin-castro-cubs It will be interesting to see what they actually want for compensation.
  15. I saw him last year backstage at a KISS concert. Yeah I know, KISS. Lame. But my friend's family member is in the band, so I tagged along (for free). I'm not a fan. But TLR is. He was getting autographs and taking photos and stuff. Haha. Anyways, I wanted to shout out something so badly. But I wussed out. Even "Go Cubs" would've been nice. I still regret it. So to all the the people here reading this thread. Think of something creative just in case you get the opportunity. Don't blow it like I did.
  16. So he cheated on his wife. So do a lot of people, even people who aren't famous athletes. And he took pain killers. Big deal. So do a lot of NFL players, and many others for that matter. The "shocking revelations" are so blah, that I can't believe all the attention this is getting. And are there still people around who want to view athletes as role models? The author is a whore as far as I'm concerned. Try and make it interesting by publicizing these "shocking revelations". Anyone who's actually shocked by revelations like this has been living under a rock. It seems like such an uninteresting book based on these lame excerpts. I definitely won't be reading the book.
  17. One guy said something like that, and he was clearly joking because he said we'd give up Garza and Castro. Yes I was joking about Garza and Castro. But if Ozzie Freaking Guillen netted 2 supposedly top 5 prospects, then why wouldn't Boston want compensation for Epstein? I don't know about compensation for GM's, but a good GM is certainly way more valuable to a team than Ozzie freaking Guillen. Even if he has an option year, why would Boston just release him if they knew he would probably get an offer from the Cubs?
  18. I think his point was that if you give up 550 yards on defense and score 20 points on offense you will probably lose most weeks. Think of all that happened to keep the Panthers from winning -A blocked kick on a 30 yard FGA -A touchdown that came back because of a questionable penalty on Shockey -A penalty that costs the Panthers a FG as the kick went about 3 feet short of going through The Panthers left a lot of points on the field, which you'd probably expect if you give up 550 yards and only score 29 points. Exactly. The defense has to be better than that to be a contender. Yes, they've made a good living off return yards, but the new kickoff rule kills them. So you can't rely on that anymore. Punt returns are far more difficult that kickoffs. With good punters who kick it high and far, not even Hester can return it consistently. The return of the running game is promising, but the Panthers easily outperformed them outside of the kicking game. And as improved as the Panthers are, the Bears were lucky to win.
  19. I think it was a disappointing performance in general. Without the deflected pick 6 and the returns, they lose the game. My disappointment is primarily directed at the defense, though. They were horrible.
  20. I wonder what the Cubs would have to give up as compensation to the BoSox if they were to hire Epstein. How about Castro and Garza?
  21. And then a lot of them will need to go overseas or find day jobs. They get strike money from the union and most players saw this coming, the ones with a good agent probably have been saving. So they could go to anyone of a number of countries and play ball and be fine. Or they could live on strike money and unemployment. Basketball is second to soccer as an international sport, the players don't need the NBA like football and baseball players need the NFL. Really? The average basketball player earns a few million a year for 5-6 years. A lot of them aren't going to be cool with "see you in July" and give up one of these years. With the exception of a few superstars, most of these guys earn the bulk of their money on the court. And a lot of these guys spend a crapload of money, probably more than they should. If $100 million atheletes can declare bankruptcy, plenty of NBA players will be feeling some serious pain without a season. Way more than the owners.
  22. Lost Britt this past week. Had Hakeem Nicks last year late in the draft and Britt was turning out to be this years Hakeem Nicks for me. Too bad. Choose 1 WR to start alongside Sidney Rice: Torrey Smith vs. Jets Jacoby Ford vs. Pats Mike Thomas vs. NO Devin Hester or Johnny Knox vs. Carolina
  23. Olsen. Can't rely on Fred Davis. You know Olsen is going to get thrown to.
  24. Vick is dangerous. As long as the team with Vick makes the playoffs, he could possibly single handedly carry the team to the championship. In our league last year, the #8 seed won with Vick and a bunch of scrubs. And that dude put up that 60 point performance last year against me! Bastard.
  25. Andre Johnson is arguably the best receiver out there, so I'd probably do it. However, I don't think Chris Johnson is done. The loss of a running threat at QB and the loss of Kenny Britt at WR does probably hurt him. But he's still young and fast. He did miss camp and has a new QB.
