  1. They needed a little home cooking and such.
  2. I have to say it: written Finnish kind of looks like random keyboard strikes. Huhgkjj kshgdfuuu kjwherkwj. Poajaghwe.
  3. Good numbers on ESPN, as well. I only wish the weather had made for a better game. Let me tell you, I watched the game last night after I got back from Columbus, and the broadcast just doesn't make it clear how much the wind affected every ball -- both on the ground and in the air. At halftime, for example, they had kids kicking a ball and whoever's ball stopped on a shirt won it... well, no one won because the wind blew all the balls WAY passed the shirts. The wind was brutal.
  4. Glad to see Booker released... he had nothing in the tank. And, thanks, but no thanks on Vick.
  5. Ya, seriously... finally I didn't have to see Cindy Crosbaby diving all over the [expletive] ice like it was a slip and slide. [snip] C'mon now... take a chill pill and maintain. Oh yeah, did you forget that I was a hockey fan?
  6. Not too much indeed. That's why it is specific to you. (Note, I didn't quote you this time! I'm feeling uncreative.) Oh, and Clemens ought to go down. Probably the thing that annoys me the most about A-Rod is that it deflected attention from the guy we KNOW has done steroids and lied about it to Congress: Tejada.
  7. I'd try to make a play for Sheets now. We've had some success with a rehabbing pitchers in the past (and some notable failures as well). Sheets is better than any of them. The upside is tremendous. The only real question is the cost. If the cost is too much now with the ownership situation still in flux, and he's available June 1st, I'd definitely sign him.
  8. Most aren't talking about the court of law, but the court of public opinion. That's what the 'scandal' has done- opened up guys who get bigger and stronger and hit way more homers than usual to questions. They definitely shouldn't, and probably won't ever, be punished unless there's some hard, reliable evidence. The problem with the court of public opinion here is that it is dominated by the usual sportswriting characters, like ESPN and such, who are more interested in gaining readers/viewers than they are in telling the full story. Obviously, there are many exceptions. But doesn't it seem that for every great article out there you have to wade through a ton of crap -- particularly where controversy is involved? And, yes, I used wade there on purpose. I think it should be a new Board rule that when quoting a post from Wade, you have to topically use wade in your own post.
  9. I'm worried about the health of Big Z and Harden, as well as Marmol. I think we downgraded the pitching staff a bit, but I still think we're a step up from the rest of the division in that respect. I do like Heilman; I think he could be a real asset. I think we'll miss DeRosa a lot more than perhaps Hendry estimated. I'm worried about Fontenot/Miles. Everyone should worry about the health of Bradley, but when he's in the lineup I think he'll keep us happy. I can't wait to see Geo mangle some baseballs in ST. Or perhaps read about it since I won't be able to make it to AZ.
  10. I still have no voice.
  11. I made Mexican fans who had the temerity to sit in the US supporter sections leave. It was an unbelievably awesome game experience. The US fans were loud and great... singing all the time and mocking where appropriate. I don't know if you guys saw on tv, but after the game, the entire team came over to the supporter area. They were riling us up, thanking us and they threw their shirts into the stands... awesome.
  12. the new ones should come out in about a year For $50 you can have it customized...i already have a dempsey kit...who should I get next? For some reason I'm leaning either Jozy or Torres. i got jozy away for xmas I think that's the way to go. Tomorrow's game looks like it's going to be played in a hurricane. I can't wait. I head out tomorrow morning at around 7:00 AM.
  13. Hahaha... this is a funny from the Touchline! http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_008Ug5v__4I/SYm9uBbp7-I/AAAAAAAAB9g/FGz8qDd5TI4/s1600/0204_cartoon.JPG Tri: I think you are just overrated. USA: That's what you said about the dollar, and now it's worth 15 pesos.
  14. No shock there. I'll curious to see who they get.
  15. Cubbiebum, get on this. C'mon. This is such a totally useless post. Have a warning.
  16. I'm going to try and plan to make the Honduras game, if it is, indeed, in Chicago. I might be able to make the TT game in Tennessee, too. Maybe. I desperately want to go to the game in Mexico City, but that might be a bridge too far.
  17. Sadly, gaining or losing draft picks because of a Type A FA doesn't seem to be much of a concern for Hendry. I know. It's frustrating.
  18. What he said. If this was as much of a no brainer as it seems like, than Sheets would be signed by now. Not necessarily. Sheets could be waiting until teams get a little more desperate.
  19. I really think acquiring Peavy is a no-brainer. That said, I'd be talking to Sheets, too. I think you can get a very nice deal with him because of his injury concerns. The bigger drawback with Sheets, in my opinion, is that he's a Type 'A' free agent.
  20. I've thought a bit more about this, and I'm going to go. Alas, however, for all my friends (and my wife) are either too far away or uninterested. Anyone here want to go in for tickets with me?
  21. I just received a USSoccerfan.com ticket pre-sale email. Check your inboxes. I may be crazy, but I'm really thinking of making a February journey to cold Columbus to watch this game.
  22. Oh darn. No Marquez whining and diving.
  23. You can't tell me you didn't see the Oompa Loompa screwing that up. how hard is it, really? just follow the exact method that the last one was ticketed. With Gulati in charge? Everything that should be easy is hard. Everything that should be hard is well nigh impossible. Well, except for spooky, creepy dance numbers in quasi-musicals. Those become common.
  24. More like Samuel L. Jackson at the end of "Unbreakable" when he's, you know, broken: "They call him SHEETS of GLASS!"
  25. Eh? What the heck are you talking about?
