  1. That is awful.
  2. Great news. Niiiiiiice. Where's Brinoch? Tillman still sucks.
  3. Whenever he gets healthy. I'm thinking look for him during the October call ups. Damn was hoping for Sept 5th and 9th. The new rules go to effect October 1st. The reason Zamora and the other guy are immediately eligible for T&T is because they had no previous caps with any senior teams. Rules are in effect now -- Jones has a broken leg.
  4. Add Jermaine Jones (M), Maurice Edu (M), and Marcus Hahnemann/Troy Perkins (GK) and you basically have our 23 for the WC. I also think there's a chance that Hejduk makes it because you probably want 8 on Defense in case of injuries/cards. Pearce could make a comeback and supplant Bornstein. There will be a surprise or two as well... (Lets hope they aren't in the form injuries). Here's my 23 (dropping Casey): Keepers - 3 (Howard, Guzan, Hahnemann) Defense - 8 (Onyewu, Bocanegra, Spector, Cherundolo, DeMerit, Marshall, Hejduk, Bornstein) Midfielders - 8 (Dempsey, Bradley, Clark, Jones, Edu, Holden, Feilhaber, Torres) Mid/Forward - 1 (Landon) Forwards - 3 (Altidore, Davies, Ching)
  5. Definitely better. *Hug*
  6. This made me laugh. And not because the Cubs can't win the world series but the way I think you were saying it makes me laugh. It made me laugh because they can't win the World Series. You're always so negative. Need a pick me up?
  7. The Cubs need to learn to effectively use their blackhole-ishness at 2B as an effective weapon. I mean, who would of thought that Prince Fielder could stretch out into something that long!
  8. I strongly agree with Tyrant. Because although the Cubs will win the Series this year -- of that I have no doubt -- they do have contract issues in the future. Wells is better and cheaper than Marquis, for example, and it's imperative that a team consistently produce inexpensive, effective major league players. Go Cy Wells!
  9. LaTroy just wishes he could be on the Cubs since they are going to win the World Series this year.
  10. No need to make any deals, I think. The Cubs have better upgrades just from getting healthy than are available on the market.
  11. Says the crack addict. Bears are going to the Superbowl. Book your tickets now.
  12. Tillman sucks. [/Raisin baiting]
  13. Len and Bob are the best!! I can't believe Stone is that much of a child. Seriously... grow up.
  14. I'm pretty sure they have instituted team luaus for morale purposes in the clubhouse. And a cardboard picture of Hendry with tear-offs revealing more skin each time they lose. Lou's gold on motivation.
  15. I don't think you can sacrifice a bad player to the baseball Gods. I believe, actually, that it was late in Spring Training when Lou sacrificed Milton for a late July surge. He temporarily drained Dempster and Ramirez for August, Harden and Soto for September, and now Lilly to advance to the NLCS. I'm also pretty sure that he sacrificed Miles, but all that gave the Cubs was extra batting practice over the All-Star break.
  16. We'll go no worse than 17-9.
  17. The march has begun. I realize that people are concerned by the terrible first half, but now that the yips are out of the system, the Cubs are going to roll the rest of the division. If they can stay healthy, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cubs quickly pass the Rockies and Phillies and flirt with catching the Dodgers.
  18. No and no. It was a good road trip, and while last night was very winnable, Saturday was very winnable for the Nats. You win some of those and you lose some of those. Much to be happy about, I think.
  19. Holy cow. Oh wait, no. It's glass cow. Good to see you. Thank you sir. I spend most of my time lurking instead of posting these days. I was hoping to start a thread like this and get some positivity vibes flowing. Didn't work. Let's hope Z can shut them down today. I tried to keep it going, and I'm with you brother -- I have a great feeling about the second half. Actually, this was a very good thread up until last night. Then the negativity really started to flow. One thing I've learned about baseball is that it's a long season, and it's important to differentiate the forest and the trees. The trees say that the Cubs stink because they lost 2/3 from the Phillies. The forest says the Cubs went 5-2 on the first road trip after the All-Star break.
  20. I blame the Cubs. If they were 20 games above .500. No one would care enough to argue with me. Discuss by yourself all you want -- just in the appropriate thread!
  21. We appreciate your kindness and generosity. :D
  22. The Cubs are 3rd in the National League in terms of Runs Allowed -- behind San Francisco and Los Angeles (and the generally advantaged pitching parks of the NL West). They are 5th in OBP/A. Pitching isn't (and hasn't been) the problem. The problem has been the anemic offense -- 12th in Runs scored and 10th in OBP. If indeed the offense is heating up, then I think the Cubs will continue to do very well. The key for me is that the Cards haven't underperformed so far this season while the Cubs clearly have. With all the injuries and issues the team has had, they are 2 games out of first with 72 games left to play. That's nothing. Even playing like utter garbage for much of the season, the Cards weren't able to draw away from the pack.
  23. The Cubs are slowing reeling me back in. I think they'll win the division. Damn it.
  24. Take the Favre conversation to its proper thread -- the NFL Offseason thread. This is at least the second time this thread has been derailed in this fashion, and that's two too many times. Drop it here and take it up there. End transmission.
