  1. I think Gooch'll have plenty of time. He won't lose all his conditioning. They'll have him doing some form of cardio -- maybe swimming or biking. Was at the game... really, it's hard to describe. This wasn't awesome like the Mexico game. It was very frustrating. We should have blown those guys out. The ref was also CONCAF terrible. Still, I'm happy with the draw and I'm glad that Honduras is in. They must absolutely love us right now.
  2. I tend to agree with you, Wolf. Clint is dangerous, and other teams will respect his ability. I'd probably leave Donovan out wide, with Holden/Feilhaber replacing Dempsey. Landon can play either wing. I'd also be interested to see if Torres can emerge. We will have Jones for the WC, most likely, and that'll have a positive impact as well.
  3. She said femur and tibula. No such bone. Tibia. Let's wait until USSF says something.
  4. Yikes. It could be worse. He could have been killed. Rumor on BS is broken Tib and Fib plus internal injur(y)ies.
  5. Per Goff: Davies was not driving.
  6. Davies was in a serious car accident last night. One of the people in the car died. I feel ill. CD is in surgery right now, according to Grant Wahl. Extent of his injuries are unknown.
  7. That's on Barker.
  8. More than one Mod reads this thread... I didn't change the topic!
  9. The problem is that the refs quickly default back to the bad old NHL -- allowing intimidating physical play after the whistle, for example. The playoffs were a perfect example of this. All season, they kept the physicality low and generally enforced things... but once the playoffs started, that was right out the window. I like the way the Wings play. I thought the series with the Hawks was a fairly clean series on both sides, and even though the Hawks lost, I really preferred watching that style of play over all the crap that went on after the whistle against the Flames, for example.
  10. Why not have the best of both worlds! One Canuck thug and a bunch of nancy-hockey loving scandinavians.
  11. Let's fire Hendry, and hopefully find someone who is more capable of making this decision.
  12. The problem was with the offense.
  13. They could also be maneuvering as they seek to make another, larger trade.
  14. That Rams logo is hysterical.
  15. Nah. That's really okay.
  16. How is it that we all see this and the Bear's coaching staff doesn't? I really don't know. It doesn't make a lot of sense.
  17. Yeah, I don't know what it is, but man the Bears are bad at blitzing. They seemingly run into the lineman on purpose, I guess hoping that this will create a free blitzer but it never seems to. I've always felt that on a blitz, unless you have an overload all the rushers should be shooting through gaps and forcing the linemen out of position, opening holes.
  18. Comparisons are inevitable.
  19. Just in time, too.
  20. Hysterical. 3 picks in a half - that's definitely what he can do. Now I'm even happier about getting Jets/Saints. They both suck, whats the big deal. If Anderson seems more comfortable in practice I would make the move too. Given the sheer terribleness that is that offense, I think I'd take the QB out about 50% of the time, replacing him with a blocking TE and use the Wildcat. You'd turn the ball over a lot less and probably move the ball more effectively.
  21. Yeah, clearly Mora isn't Mare's biggest fan. I didn't Mare was good, but to be singled out like that is wrong. 4/6 with misses from 43 and 34 wasn't good, but wasn't awful enough to merit this treatment. Criticize the elements of the team that were more of a factor, like say, your offensive coordinator's play calling and your secondary's poor coverage.
  22. And Banedon, when the pro-Tillman/anti-Tillman faction leaders from three years ago (factions of about 1 member each, I might add) are in agreement on something like this, you can be certain that the opposing viewpoint is dead wrong.
  23. I do. It's typical sportwriter tripe. Rather than praising Knox for his catches or discussing the amazing growth a 5th round pick from Abilene Christian has made, Haugh weaves his pro-Knox article into a broader story about who is making who better, the WR or the QB. He has a flawed premise, but he sticks with it inserts the Knox story into his narrative -- irrespective of facts or game conditions. I've long been a fan of the Sun Times coverage of the Bears over the Tribune's. After reading this article, I've pretty much concluded that Haugh and Tribune aren't worth the bother. Why is it so hard to find good Bears coverage?
  24. Between the 20's, it seems like Lovie is okay with going for the strip. In the red zone, they appear more interested in stopping touchdowns by going for the tackle instead of the strip. I'm fine with going for the strip, but not at the expense of missing the guy. In that situation, Tillman should ensure that he has a hold of the Jones and then go for the strip. If Tillman's got a good grip on Jones, he knows there will be help coming so he can take a whack at the ball. If he pops the ball loose -- great. If not, no problem -- Jones is liable to go down or out of bounds. And, even better, we don't give up a TD or a first down.
  25. What's your issue? The headline? Cuz I'm sure David Haugh didn't write that. If you're saying that's an anti-Cutler article, I disagree strongly. It's not anti-Cutler, it's just dumb. Haugh is clearly making the case that it is the wide receivers are making Cutler look good, rather than Cutler making them look good. Read for yourself: The fact of the matter is that both Knox and Hester made excellent runs after their catches, but to say that it was all the wide receiver and nothing to do with the QB is silly. By that logic, all that was needed was to draft Knox, right? That's the only real change in the offense (other than that Cutler guy). Anyone who actually watches football (and specifically the Bears) will know that the real difference in the offense this year over last is having a QB who is strong-armed, accurate, understands and reads the game well, and makes the good decisions (generally-speaking). It's a dumb article and dumb premise.
