  1. 100% And he's awful at it. Most of those guys had him pegged immediately. He's just hamming it up at this point.
  2. A couple observations: How crappy must Zimmerman feel? I think he had 14 LOB today, and the Cubs were essentially daring him to do anything with the bat. I don't drink, but if I were him I would have gotten wasted on the flight back to DC. Batting two sub .300 OBP guys (revere has only played in a few games, given) in front of Harper when you have Daniel Murphy sitting at .448 is totally Dusty. If you're not going to put him in front of Harper, at least put him behind him (lol Zimmerman). Baker is a damned prodigy at botching lineup construction. Before Revere, he had Micheal Taylor (he of the .222 OBP) batting leadoff. That really takes me back to the days of CPatt/Macias/Neifi batting ahead of Derrek Lee, which still fills me with a terrible rage.
  3. The Mets can horsefeathers off, but that was fun.
  4. Reds pitching turned 2016 Aaron Hill into 2009 Aaron Hill tonight. That bullpen is historically bad.
  5. Yeah, that was pretty amazing. McCarver is one of those guys who people treat with reverence even though they're horsefeathering awful. Maybe it's because he carried around Bob Gibson's jock, I don't know. What I do know is that you'll routinely hear him say some of the dumbest horsefeathers you've ever heard.
  6. Hope for his sake it's not Garrett Richards' form of fatigue. I think it's fatigue like Schwarber had a sprained ankle. It's the preliminary "here's what we hope it is, now we're going to find out what it really is" diagnosis. I would be surprised if it doesn't end up being a strain of some sort (nothing too serious, though).
  7. Kang's second homer was a bomb, too.
  8. Regardless of what configuration it takes, the Cardinals' booth is always a symposium of stupidity.
  9. Now the Cards are saying the preliminary diagnosis is fatigue. Apparently he has been dealing with "flu-like symptoms". That may happen when you're patient zero for god knows what.
  10. The clap, maybe? Crab bite. Infected, probably.
  11. Carlos Martinez just came out of the game. I thought Yadi was just calling for the medical staff to administer Carlos his antibiotics, but it seems he's actually hurt.
  12. i'm really pretty damn annoyed. two should be blowouts turned into human looking wins. This is what it has come to. "We dominated for most of the game, but not quite all of it. Now I feel like horsefeathers."
  13. I'm pretty sure the Reds lead the league in every measure of bullpen ineptitude.
  14. Maybe I spoke too soon. Are we giving the fountain of youth to Werth right now Murphy's hit doesn't bother me, the walk to Harper kinda did. With no one on and a six run lead, you let him hit the ball to the moon if he can.
  15. I love how over the past five days the Cubs have manhandled the two teams that swept the Cards.
  16. I don't know how I didn't think of it earlier, but one guy I'd love to see get popped for PEDs is Daniel Murphy. horsefeathers that guy.
  17. I do have to give their TV crew some credit for last night's game. They were very critical of the umpire with respect to the Fowler ejection. All things considered, I thought they did a decent job with the broadcast last night. I've heard a fair bit of Santangelo over the years, and he's always been an extreme homer/cheerleader. Bob Carpenter (the pbp guy) is much better.
  18. F.P. Santangelo (Nats color guy) is one of the biggest homers this side of Hawk Harrelson. To hear him tell it, the only reason the Cubs are winning is that Scherzer throws hard and "on days like this" all a batter has to do against a power pitcher is touch it to get it out. He's also surprised that Lackey can strike guys out at this point in his career. Even though his k/9 has been higher the past few seasons than it was early in his career.
  19. omg CardRed is like my favorite poster ever. I enjoyed his resignation to my explanation of the purpose Hendricks serves and why he's good. Actually, I think CardRed may be a troll.
  20. It only makes sense if one looks at it though an overly simplistic "player suddenly got a lot better, something funny might be going on" perspective. Jake didn't get much bigger, didn't start throwing harder, nor did his pitches start moving more. If you dig into the reasons for the improvement, there are numerous mechanical changes he's made since coming over that help explain why he's become so good. He's probably in better shape than he used to be, but certainly no more than his legendary workout regimen and diet would easily account for. It's actually for that reason that it would shock me if Jake got busted. I just don't see the kale munching, carrot and turmeric smoothie drinking Arrieta putting steroids into his body. I know people like him, and they absolutely refuse to use anything that might "contaminate" them in any way.
  21. Grichuk is going to be back in AAA before long, at the rate he's going. If it were a Cardinal, I'd prefer the hit be right in their sanctimonious intangibles. Molina, Wainwright or Holliday.
  22. I've heard more than a few talking heads say that they thought the Phillies were more than an April mirage. They have a winning record and good pitching, but they also have a run differential of -23.
  23. Diaz or Hazelbaker would be great. Molina, having tried to speed up his recovery. But seriously, I really just don't care about PEDs.
