    Stanton has been tepid horsefeathers for most of the year. That said, I would have put him on with first base open and a 3-0 count.

    I'm not sure where I'd find team pitches/PA splits, but anecdotally I feel like the team hasn't maintained quite the same level of plate discipline over the past few weeks that they showed during the first couple months, at least consistently. I know the the team hasn't walked at the same rate over the past month or so. I could be off base about the overall discipline, but it sure feels like it has played a role in the relatively inconsistent offense of late.

    We signed Crow in February. Nathan was just last month.

    After cooling down for a while, I'm not as mad at Almora. I'm still mad at Russell for swinging at ball four, and at Coghlan for not taking second, but mostly that Rosenthal was giving the game away and we couldn't take it. The upshot is that dumb horsefeathers Matheny probably sees this as a success for Rosenthal and will keep using him.
