    It's like you say this every time the Cardinals acquire a new player. Wait, wait, wait....strike the "like." its the cardinals. they have beaten most cubs fans into the ground forever. nothing surprises me when it comes to the cardinals.

    If There is no way of knowing for sure based on a couple hundred AAA PA. If we bring him up again and he sucks anywhere near like last year, you will never get any substantial value for him again. I'm not at all against keeping Baez and I have high hopes for him but if we need to let him to get a valuable player that we will have for the next 2+ seasons then I'm not at all opposed. If Baez can perform like Wilmer Flores on the mets, that would even be an upgrade to castro

    what Anything can happen look at the royals and giants last year both were wild card and went to the series if the team got hot who knows what will happen!

    I find the SD Boston Cubs to be interesting Jed and Theo basically have the in for both organizations... Theo's frat club!

    You don't have to be convinced, it just has to increase your chances. Not to mention the benefit a cost controlled starter will give in future years. With Ross or Carrasco the cubs can still go sign a top FA SP .. its totally worth it.

    I dont see the difference between Happ and Richards to be honest. He just isnt that good! The freaking Twins lit him up for 6 in 3.1 ip last night. No please no.

    Wouldn't bead if he cost us Javy? I wouldn't be mad if Andrew Cashner cost us Javy. I'd jump up and down like a 12 year old girl who just scored Justin Bieber tickets if Carrasco cost us Javy. If they are dealing with the Indians I really want theo to do what it takes to get brantley. .300 avg CF locked up til 2018.. I'd give up soler and baez tbh. We need more High avg hitters anyways

    Carrasco is cheap $$ and a stud this would let the cubs have alot of flexability. I wouldn't be mad if it costed javy at least he would be in the AL

    Who was saying that Astros don't have better playoff odds? The point is that the Cubs are still in a good position to make the playoffs and their odds can swing wildly back in their favor in very short order, and it's ridiculous that someone would be OK with them doing nothing to ideally better their chances of making it and advancing basically because better teams exist. Exactly it could be as simple as the cubs getting hot and winning 7-8 straight from now to set the tone..

    the cubs have been saving up prospects for years and as long as it dont affect the team this year or next year why does it matter? the cubs basically have the infield locked down for the rest of the decade with the current team. they pay for pitchers and are another ace away from having what may be the best rotation in the majors... a guy like ross already has the 12th best FiP of all pitchers, just a bad WHiP which bosio can prolly fix like he did with arrieta. to give up at this point is stupid... also what message does it send to the fanbase... if it was a solo player gm game you can click a few buttons and jump to next season.. the F/O im sure has the city of chicago and the 1000s of fans that show up at games in blue jerseys in every city they play in mind as well. there has to be something that can be done in the gray area between "prospect hording" and "giving the farm away" in which the cubs can improve.. all the high profile rental pitchers are gone already. trade away! but if baez was gone i'd be sad, rest of the guys so what? they already had another good draft and are expected to be big spenders in IFA anyways..

    yup so dont do anything especially since you have the 10th best record out of all teams in baseball and 5th in the NL. oh yeah and you would be in 2nd place in the AL East and NL east and could beat anyone in the playoffs if your hot... btw the giants and royals last year won the division.

    If they get a piece like ross, would it maybe make more sense to go for a cheaper guy than price like zimmerman and go hard at a dude like heyward?

    Russell seems to get on base every day lately... would really like to see him batting 2nd something like Fowler Russell Rizzo Bryant Schwarber etc. etc.

    Yeah. And the way we put together a pitching staff means we pretty much always need to be acquiring pitching. If we want the 2016 staff to be as good as this one, moves like this are probably needed. But also for this year. Yeah thats true... So assuming we get Ross and sign Price/zimmerman/Cueto/Grienke/etc who is the odd man out of the rotation Hendricks? Hammel? Or do they just go get the best bats possible?!?:) Ace via FA Arrieta Lester Ross Hendricks/Hammel?
