  1. If Theo is ok with 6 years, im ok with 6 years. We gotta go for it every year next 3 while we have our core together, and having Yu on those teams accomplishes that. 2021, 22, 23 will be overpays but we won't care that much cause of the 3 straight titles, and I trust that Theo and staff will be supplying us with waves of studly arms by then anyway.
  2. All he had to do was stay God mode and he would have plenty of his big offers but noooooooo
  3. The first time I saw a picture of Kyle and Paige sitting on a balcony this offseason I legit assumed she was his sister. They kinda look like they could be related IMO.
  4. Well, I'll certainly be happy if G. Cole leaves our division and goes to the AL. I do feel bad for Pirates' fans though. They had a good run and now it's all falling apart slowly... I Pirates had an open window to compete and they basically signed AJ Burnett as their boldest move. Pirates fans should demand new ownership.
  5. I realize all of the "lets trade Montgomery cause he wants to start" talk is a real thing that happens in sports but I hope it doesnt get to the table in Theo's office. I mean, I get trading him if it makes us better, but I dont get trading him just because he wants to start. I am sure La Stella would like to start too, but it just isnt happening right now. We want to put together the best roster possible, and having Montgomery in the role he is in now helps us achieve that. If he can't come around to that idea, too horsefeathering bad.
  6. Has anyone ever put together a realistic look at how much Rizzo would likely earn had he not signed his extension when he did and played it out like KB?
  7. I like it. Machado and an Archer type on the roster this year would then turn in to Harper and Archer type next year plus the pick we would get for Machado. Makes sense. In this scenario, who are the shortstops that would be available in 2019 that we would have to look at?
  8. I hope this is true, the Cardinals really shouldnt be driving anything anymore
  9. Durvish will be watching Curb Your Enthusiasm episodes and laughing at all the Jeff Garlin scenes tomorrow. I can feel it.
  10. You literally bolded the words "without the velocity of a pitch"
  11. Well Robert Murray sucks
  12. EDIT: Could've left this one out of the discussion there, guy. Yeah ok Fan Rag Sports
  13. I am sure once Rizzo comes back from his honeymoon he will slide right back in to their weird little multi family thing they are building and that I am jealous of.
  14. Bryant+Harper+Contreras > Stanton+Judge+Sanchez
  15. Yelich is great but if we really do plan on getting Bryce I dont see it fitting in Theo's plans right now. I think this year we roll with Schwarber LF, Almora CF, Heyward RF with Zobrist platooning on the corners. Happ gets moved for pitching or backs up Almora in center. Ideally they all play well enough that they stay in future plans and the outfield then becomes Schwarber LF, Almora+Heyward CF, Harper RF in 2018. I just think we are stuck with Heyward and I cant see us going with an all left handed swinging starting outfield and having him on the bench, which is what we would have if we added Yelich and Harper and kept Schwarber. Would be great if we can move Heyward after this year, somehow. But until then, I think CF will be where we have to put him after we get Bryce.
  16. yeah no one said that
  17. Just like John Oliver said to Dustin Hoffman (paraphrased), "why would these women lie?" He was called out online by the best friend of his wife, I tend to believe she was coming from an honest place. Just because the victim probably realized her child would have less money if she pursued charges against Russell and his earning potential suffers doesnt mean it didnt happen. I'd just rather not deal with it, thats just me. I think we can still win multiple world series without him, so long as we still get good value from him. And the reason I made my edit was after I thought about it more, I just came to the realization that I'd rather not have him on the team if we could replace him with another asset.
  18. he's not some case of unrealized potential, a down injury-plagued 2017 aside (you think this is the time to sell high??). he had accrued damn near 7 fWAR before his 23rd birthday. he's an elite defensive SS who walks and has power, and he's not even 24 yet. I dont care what his WAR is if hes an abuser, I dont want to root for him. Trade him for Archer if he so valuable.
  19. If we are going to trade a MIF I sincerely hope its the one who was accused of beating up the mother of one of his dozen children, but thats just me. edit: Id actually like to trade him regardless. Sell him while value is still somewhat high, cause im not so sure he's ever going to come close to the barry larkin clone we were told
  20. Im going to venture a guess and say Japanese just so happens to be one of the 5 languages Kyle taught himself how to speak for fun
  21. Driving my kid to school this morning and caught a long red light, so I pulled up twitter for the first time of the day. Saw a Buster Olney tweet and read "something something something Wil Myers will move from OF to..." and my brain told me that this was how I was finding out that he picked the padres over the night and of course I swore loudly in front of my 6 year old kid. "What is it daddy?" "Ohhh whew, oh its nothing, thank GAWD. Its just this Japanese baseball player that I want to pick the Cubs because you see, he pitches and he..." "Can you turn this music up please?"
  22. If respect is as big of a deal to Ohtani as has been alleged then I dont understand why he would lead teams on that he had no interest in signing with (i.e. the ones with less money). Same thing goes for these Mariners and Angels deals. If there were really only 2 teams he was deciding between right now, I cant see him horsefeathering around with them and having 1 trade prospects to get more money that he wont then take from them. I still hope he is genuine and money isnt a factor to him. And those trades were made by teams who figured it would increase their shot at him but did so without indication that they were one of 2 "finalists"
  23. By picking either the Mariners or Padres you just know this kid is serious about those 3 World Series he plans on winning
