  1. Do the right thing, Shohei
  2. I understand. It was a bad joke.
  3. Nope, travel has not been mentioned once in this 36 page thread about a major Japanese star
  4. This is probably what they're going to discuss [tweet] [/tweet] Future Schwarber, Almora and Happ trades confirmed. edit: also Heyward burn
  5. signs with Cubs: very very good signs with Dodgers: very very bad signs with anyone else: good luck buddy
  6. Not only are our front office executives better than all the other finalists, our manager is, too. Even having played in 3 straight NLCS, we can still offer him some serious stability going forward.. how many other teams can tell him who his entire infield will be for the next 3-4-5 years? I think we have so many things going for us that other teams just can't match - mainly key individuals in key positions: Theo, Jed, Joe (his bosses) and Contreras, Rizzo, Bryant, Russell, Baez (his catcher and infield) and Happ (serial killer who wont murder teammates). And not only are they all very good at what they do but they appear to have fun while doing it. I think Theo is going to get him.
  7. I like to think that Theo already had an essay written, and when Ohtani's people asked that it be submitted "as soon as possible in both Japanese and English" he was all like "gimme a minute, gotta get you an English copy I guess."
  8. Just sign Darvish, Hirano and Ichiro if it guarantees Ohtani.
  9. I want him so bad but Im betting LA will get him.
  10. Probably just Stroman but as I’ve made clear I’d rather go a different route and keep Russell. I hate the idea of trading Russell or Schwarber who seem very likely to increase their value this season. Happ and Baez seem about as high as their value is going to get. I’d like to trade one of them (preferably Happ since I’m not as attached to him) for a Gausman/Teheran type. Keep Russell as part of the core and trade Schwarber after his 40hr/950ops season to make room for Harper. I, for one, think that the value of Happ and Baez can get higher.
  11. Reading trade scenarios centered around guys with No Trade Clauses is one of my biggest internet pet peeves. You might as well talk about the scenarios after Heyward opts out of his contract, cause the likelihood is about as high for that as it would be for him to waive that NTC and be sent off to not contend in san fran.
  12. Yankees look to be going internal. Tbh, Derek Jeter raiding the Yankees probably has them a bit wobbly right now, sorting out FO issues and managerial issues. __________________________ Color me not convinced that TheoJed are going to really go all-out for Bryce. If Bryce falls into a more lower range, maybe. But it seems fairly certain the Nationals will pony something close to 10/400. With Heyward and extensions coming up, yes, even with a 26 year old Bryce ... there would be some juggling for the Cubs to do. Keep in mind, there's rumors that Bryce and Boras might be pushing for more than 10 years, and when you factor in that it's likely to be the "standard" contract structure, that is something that's probably a bit backloaded, and I don't see it as incredulous to say that there would be some juggling to do. Why would Heyward have anything to do with signing Harper? If anything I feel like we need Harper more than ever, cause Heyward contract is gonna be a flop. Might as well sign someone better instead of just trot the worse guy out there cause youre stuck with him. The Ricketts can afford them both, KB, Willson and then some.
  13. Schwarber's potential at the plate as a lefty kind of version of KB + leadership qualities vs. Happ's positional/hitting versatility + he might kill Theo and/or Jed if he gets traded to the wrong place. Itll be an interesting decision for Theo to make, but I do think 1 of these guys will be on the move this offseason.
  14. I predict that Jake will go 3 or 4 strong innings and we will jump out 4-1 before rain causes a delay. Lackey will come in and finish the other 5 or 6 innings and we win 9-3
  15. Despite Montgomery's Inability to Pitch a Complete Game Do You Bring Him Back Next Year?
  16. Over/Under on amount of times Russel throws his bat into the stands on swings before his career is over? Setting it at 200
  17. My favorite So they think we will only be an NLCS/World Series type team for 6 straight years? I mean if you put it that way, then yeah, lets fire Theo right now.
  18. Why not go home there? I realize its early, but wouldnt 1 out, bases loaded with pitcher up be better than 2 outs, 1 run in and runner at 3rd?
  19. We want to win the World Series again, right? Not sure how trading Happ during the year would move us toward that goal. Hes kind of important to our lineup.
  20. Do you really want our catcher pissing off umpires?
