  1. I was critical of him after game 1 so I'll admit I'm pleasantly surprised by his uptick in performance. I still don't like the swing, but it's working for now. I still think he's gonna go into a slump and he hits too many groundballs, but at least he isn't striking out anymore. Call me crazy but I still hope he opts out just because I think the last few yrs are gonna be ugly and the defense will be in decline. Also, we could allocate that money somewhere else to someone better (probably). Everyone here knows he will go into a slump, just like everyone here knows the haters are anxiously waiting for it to happen so they can continue complaining about him as soon as it starts
  2. Grimm Strop Edwards Uehera Rondon Davis I mean, if these guys are right then we really shouldnt need anyone to go multiple innings often.
  3. I hate it when Javy lays off 3 balls and they are all called strikes.
  4. I think it was an ok idea followed by a bad one (inserting Lester and Ross into a dirty inning), but whatever, we won!
  5. I feel like Lackey should either have not been included at all because I hate him or he shouldve been "Customer Service" or "Public Relations" or something else that he would obviously be terrible at.

  7. I really hope we don't trade Happ, although if we do ideally it would be getting a SP back with upside. Happ just seems like the perfect guy to develop and have as insurance in case Zobrist starts to break down and miss time due to being old as horsefeathers (he's younger than me).
  8. I think you would see Zobrist (or maybe even KB if Joe wants to be cheeky) at SS before TLS but I guess it all depends on the situation and who is available.
  9. I mean yeah, he was. He will be #4 this year behind Schwarber if it were ever needed.
  10. Javy is a first name guy.
  11. Gimme. As in, "Marte rips a laser to leftcenter that wouldve been trouble for most everyone else but its a gimme for Almora, Pirates go 3 up 3 down..." or, more optimistically, "his bat is so hot right now and he's been clutch all year, you gotta gimme mora Almora." Gimme Almora. I'll see myself out.
  12. I do not want Dozier in stl...
  13. I would rather not see the best infielder in the game turned into an outfielder. There are so many ways that Javy could be a starter for us in the regular season like he was in the post season, but we don't have to force it. Lets enjoy having him as an above average utility player while Zobrist is still a weapon, and then eventually transition the two if/when Zobrist's skills diminish more and Javy's develop.
  14. Okay I'm far from a professional writer but I've always been under the impression a writer adds things in parenthesis to provide further context to attributed quotes when people say things like someones first or last name only. What the horsefeathers is going on in this paragraph? What he probably said: “It’s one thing to say that, but it’s another thing to just hit as many home runs as Theo hit. It’s the Addison Russell trade... Incredible. It’s getting Arrieta and Stropy for Clevenger and Whatshisface. Bam... Fortunate enough to get Kris Bryant after the Stros took Appel."
  15. Miggy did not hit a homerun in Game 7, brah no horsefeathers. that's not what was being talked about Oh my bad. I was confused by the post right before the one I responded to that said this I thought that was in game 7 it might be both but it was in Game 7 for sure, which actually made me feel sympathetic for the guy a little bit, because it was actually during the rain delay, meaning he held it together to finish the 8th and then pitch the 9th before breaking down.
  16. Miggy did not hit a homerun in Game 7, brah
  17. I guess I am not sure what you are referring to here. With Arrieta and Davis most likely receiving the QO next year, the Cubs would be gaining 2 compensatory picks. It would not surprise me if they offer Lackey the QO as well which would result in the lower-tiered compensatory pick. Are you assuming they will sign a FA who has a pick attached next offseason?
  18. Its so hard to see a guy like Georgie go. I invested a lot of time into following his development and career, and I hope he reaches his potential in KC. It sucks knowing that he won't become the monster Cub we all hoped he would become, but its nice reminding myself that I was in person for Game 2 of the World Series and saw this lineup, the kind that I dreamed about for 4 years: Fowler Bryant Rizzo Zobrist Schwarber Baez Contreras Soler Russell Mission: Accomplished, Georgie. Thank you and good luck.
  19. I am sure any team that is in on Chapman is also in on Jansen with no illusions that they will sign them both.
  20. Do we have confirmation that Theo has returned from his binge?
  21. The Rose Bowl is obligated to take the B1G Champion if that team is not in the playoffs. Edit: I would even bet that they would take the losers of the B1G title game over Michigan/USC if, say, Clemson loses and Washington and PSU win. The Rose Bowl wants to keep tradition alive more than any other bowl out there. I would bet that it'll be Colorado (win or lose) vs Penn State or Wisconsin.
  22. I would hope Zobrist becomes our leadoff hitter with Schwarber back inthe lineup. Yep. Zobrist followed by some combo of Bryant, Rizzo, Schwarbs. Then Russel. Then some combo of Heyward, Baez, Contreras. I really think it's time to let go of the CF Heyward lineups, for now (unless you're advocating for CF Zobrist or CF Baez?)
  23. I mean, I get it. Trading the face of the franchise isnt fun. But 2017 Cutch isnt close to 2015 Cutch anymore, and their OF will be just fine with Meadows, Marte, Polanco. My Pirate fan friends understand that and are ready to move on. How patient do we think the Yankees will be with all of the prospects they've landed over last year? I'd be OK with Cutch out of the NL Central but it would kind of suck seeing Torres in it facing us for 7 years or so..
  24. http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20161107&content_id=205773734&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb ---- Craig, I think year one generally is most about getting the player under a training and conditioning program specific to them. Catcher? Caratini?
  25. I figure he builds the Cubs into a dynasty and then decides he wants Manfred's job and just, I dunno, takes it.
