    If he goes more than 180 IP this season with minimal DL stints, I think the Cubs will consider picking up his option. The odds are that the Cubs decline his option, but make a run at signing him to a reasonable deal. If he'd be open to becoming a reliever, I think the Cubs would make a harder run at him. He'd get more money as a starter, but as a reliever I could see him getting a really nice deal.

    Stuff-wise, he would be a pretty good addition to Peoria. However, it could well be possible that the Cubs might see something in his mechanics that need work or something along those lines. On a related note, the weather has been unusually mild in the Midwest this winter and seems to be heading towards regularly being in the 60s/70s in the near future. This was one of the warmest winters I can remember.

    Brandon McCarthy is pretty much the extent of it at the moment. They have guys with potential down in the system, but no one who can immediately step in and help in the rotation.

    Bacon makes the world a better place. :D Walker should be a lot of fun for you to watch Ron! He's arguably the fastest player in the Cubs' system.
