  1. If the cubs lose out, I hope Fukudome is given a ludicrously horrifying contract. I'm talking in the range of 3/$60m.
  2. I'd be all for a Bedard/Roberts deal as long as we don't get robbed. What kind of package do you think would get the job done? Moreover, I'm curious about whether this deal might hinge on the Cubs picking up Fukudome. That would make Pie (and possibly Colvin) expendable...
  3. Huh. I wonder what Mark DeRosa's availability looks like?
  4. I seriously think Braun is expendable at this point. Whatever your opinion is about his defense, they seem hell-bent on finding a replacement for him at 3B rather than let him try and settle in and learn the position. If they throw him into the OF, his value will decline and there will not be enough playing time to go around for everyone vying for a spot. If I were an AL team or an NL team in a rebuilding mode, I'd be poking around the Brewers' camp to see what Braun's availability would be.
  5. I sincerely hope this is pure conjecture on the writer's part. Cora is trash.
  6. I'm still pissed off about the fact that the Cubs never signed the guy.
  7. I look forward to the conversations with my friends who are Reds fans. Seriously, they have no idea what they're in for.
  8. They've had success signing guys like Shingo Takatsu and Tadahito Iguchi, so who knows?
  9. Since when did Sam Fuld belong to the caste that handles dead bodies?
  10. Sam Fuld will put David Eckstein's heart and grit to shame.
  11. Well I guess this is credible since he didn't report that it was Eric Beldard and actually spelled Wladimir correctly... He was the same guy who said a deal between the Cubs and Fukudome was close! :D
  12. BP has his EpA at .289 for 2007.
  13. The Cubs can top $8m a year over three years fairly easily, imo.
  14. Maybe they cooled on the idea when Pettitte announced he was coming back. They probably figure they can squeeze some other team of a starter without giving up as much in talent. They come out of this whole deal with egg on their face, though. Hank Steinbrenner comes off as a loudmouth who uses the media like two things: 1) His personal Livejournal 2) His bully pulpit Seriously, I wouldn't want to deal with the Yankees after seeing how they made ludicrous offers in all seriousness, complained loudly when the Twins turned down the offers, publicly vacillated on including a number of guys who should be in the deal from the get-go, dragged out negotiations because they were too stubborn, and then set a deadline which everyone knew was full of garbage. The Twins wanted to dump Santana, but they weren't stupid, desperate, or lacking other interested parties.
  15. Those three are worth quite a bit more than Ramirez IMO. Agree to disagree, imo. Figgins is an average offensive player. I don't think Kendrick/Wood by themselves would be nearly enough to pry Ramirez from the Cubs.
  16. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Give us Kendrick, Wood, and Figgins in exchange for Ramirez. Then we'll talk.
  17. plz be Bruce Wayne and buy whats not for sale How Millionaires Answer the Phone
  18. Take out Markakis and that deal might work. Also, Jeff Samardzija has a NTC. I don't know how much he'd like being shipped off to Baltimore.
  19. Will Carroll's on Facebook? I feel like I need to start some new poke wars...
  20. I'm surprised that's all it took. The Twins picked up a lot of guys with a lot of potential, but the only guy who's proven anything in that deal is Crisp. Do you think Boston threw in some money for Minnesota's troubles?
  21. Don't tease me like that! Oh, to dream of acquiring him...
  22. not really, by then they will be trading Uggla, Ramirez and Olsen among others. It's a neverending cycle. Point taken. However, they'll be a pretty darn good team before they set about trading all those guys off.
