  1. ENOUGH WITH THE FLAGS ALREADY. They're picking it up. Good.
  2. Oh, do they have a free feed tonight?? Aye.
  3. The NFL.com feed is nifty. Alex Brown did good? Seriously? Wow.
  4. Except it became pretty clear that they matched up perfectly fine for what SD wanted. If that was the case, there never would have been third and fourth teams dragged into the discussions. I understand Hendry has a budget to meet and everything, but my read on that was that Hendry was trying to get other teams to chip in prospects/players so that Hendry wouldn't have to trade six prospects or something insane like that.
  5. Probably just about the last team we would have wanted to take him. Pittsburgh sure does love the lefties with injury histories. Fixed that for you. :D
  6. I would have loved to have Peavy on this team, but oh well. Sometimes, these things just don't work. The Cubs and Padres never were a good match in the first place in terms of what the Padres were looking for. I can't get upset about it since this deal has been rumored to be enormously complicated from the get-go. Trying to pull off a four team trade with this many players and this much money changing hands is enormously difficult. There will be other opportunities down the road. If Peavy's available at the trade deadline, the Cubs should have a larger and better pool of players to make a trade from thanks to some pretty good pitching they picked up in this year's draft. If not, there will be room for a FA splash.
  7. The bankruptcy filing won't effect the operations of the Cubs directly but since Tribune owns the team anything that the company wants to do with it (e.g. sell it ) will have to go through the judge. Yep! In interesting news, this Chapter 11 filing might not have been done for the right reasons... Link
  8. Frankly, if we're going to trade Z, I'd rather keep the prospects/players he'd fetch and use the money saved to pursue Sheets or Sabathia.
  9. There aren't a whole lot of teams out there who could take on Z's salary. Moreover, it would require Zambrano to waive his no trade clause. I don't see it happening.
  10. I'd rather not have this thread go on for 400 pages.
  11. Phillies may be the third team. Marquis' name has been thrown around in order to get salary relief. DeRosa might be traded in the deal. Michael Wuertz is another name out there. Angels are still in the running for Peavy.
  12. How about we convert Z into a two-way player? I'm sure he'd jump at the opportunity to man the OF.
  13. Since when have I claimed not to be on a power trip? Also, now that I've looked through the board, what's up with the receding hairline joke? Are you stalking me or something? That's kinda creepy, dude.
  14. Since when have I claimed not to be on a power trip?
  15. This thread is getting derailed...again... *Readies lolcats and lolrus pics*
  16. Is anyone else concerned that Bradley couldn't handle deal with the media for a major market team? This is the same media that goes overboard against Ramirez for supposedly not hustling enough. He handled himself well enough in Los Angeles. The Chicago media can be a bit rough at times, but I can't imagine it being a whole lot tougher than LA.
  17. Angel Guzman could easily be the player whose injury history Jim Hendry was upfront about. Guzmans inury history shouldnt be a secret to anyone. His history, perhaps not. However, if it turns out that he has some sort of non-publicly disclosed medical condition involving his shoulder or arm that has been the root cause of his injuries, rather than a series of unfortunate events, the Padres would definitely want to know that information.
  18. He could easily be a good late inning defensive replacement. $1m isn't a burdensome price to pay for that kind of a bench player.
  19. Only he had a significantly better career than those three guys.
  20. Two weeks ago, I really liked how we ended our season. Now, not so much. New Orleans is on a roll, Houston's frisky, and Green Bay is still lurking. If we win next week, I'll feel a whole lot better about our chances.
  21. Officially tommorrow but they are all down there already so i'm sure they are talking today. I've been mulling over a list of GMs I'd want to be playing poker against, considering this is down in Vegas. Everyone is welcome to add to it as they see fit: Kevin Towers Brian Sabean Jim Hendry Andy MacPhail (only if Peter Angelos is standing over his shoulder) Jim Bowden Any others come to mind?
  22. please, put that apostrophe away before you hurt someone. Huh, always thought that was the possessive. Turns out I'm wrong.
