  1. That was a really good punt.
  2. Bud Light: the difference is making up words!
  3. Justin Gage still has the dropsies.
  4. Dan Dierdorf go missing or something?
  5. What an awful punt. Absolutely no hang time.
  6. Bit of an acting job, but not nearly as bad as, say, a Texas punter.
  7. Hey look, our pass defense held up.
  8. Mike Brown...productive?
  9. Am I the only one who's noticed no Saved by Zero commercials?
  10. Give a give a Garmin! Give a give a Garmin! Damnit. Just when I got that commercial out of my head.
  11. Nifty tackle on third down.
  12. If Michigan State beats Penn State, Ohio State goes. I'm aware, but I'm assuming they get by MSU. Also, Illinois should give OSU plenty of trouble next week, imo.
  13. Happily, this should mean OSU won't make a BCS Bowl. :D
  14. The Ricketts family is getting shredded in this market. TD Ameritrade's been getting hammered over the past month and a half. I'm having trouble seeing them getting the money they need to make this deal happen.
  15. Thanks guys. That puts a much brighter perspective on him for me now. Would he be viewed as a top prospect though if he were included in a trade, or just an average prospect? Decent prospect with a nice upside. Basically a guy who seems like a throw-in at the time, but could be surprisingly good a few years from now.
  16. Latest update is that we should hear something by Monday, apparently. The Cubs and Braves are the favorites, although the exact makeup of the trade packages seem a bit unclear. The sources are pretty varied, but Ken Rosenthal was the one who really kicked this story into high gear. Kevin Towers came out and said that Jake Peavy basically won't be a Padre come next season.
  17. Wow. If the Padres take that, Jim Hendry ought to be arrested for rape. Hell, I'd let them have Marshall and Atkins just out of pity.
  18. I'd have no problem trading Samardzija away, but I'm curious as to whether he'd waive his NTC.
  19. Peavy's getting paid $60m over the next four years with an option for $82m over five. Not too shabby.
  20. http://www.rotowire.com/roto_to_gnews.htm?ID=274177&sport=mlb Good thing we have Roger Cedeno on this team. http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/NickPiecoro/38442 Monday? Guh.
  21. Potentially, but the problem with PTBNLs at this point in the season is that you never know where a guy will end up come June/July. If they make Flaherty a PTBNL and he's out for the season with a torn hamstring come June/July, the Padres will look like morons. Well we could do what the Brewers did with CC they had a PTBNL and gave the Indians two choices between michael brantley and taylor green. We could give them 3 choices say they can pick from Flaherty, Carpenter or Jackson. That way they get time to scout them over most of the summer and pick who they think is the best one. Again, you risk the same problem. Because these guys are recent draftees, there's not much of a track record on which these teams can go on. The Indians at least had a book on Brantley and Green built up before they submitted both names to the Brewers in the PTBNL pool since both had played in the minors for a few years. They also had time to more thoroughly scout both before consummating the Sabathia deal. Teams don't have that luxury in these kinds of offseason deals. It's not like the Padres can send a ton of scouts to catch Jay Jackson's next start, you know? They only have a limited book on these guys. I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just saying it's really unlikely and a bad decision to make for the Padres.

  23. Struggled in Daytona, but hit really well in the FSL playoffs. Still could end up as a Todd Walker-type, imo.
