  1. RHP Ryan Searle is doing quite well in Daytona. LHP Cody Hams,RHP Adam Spencer, and OF Sean Williams are all currently down in extended spring training. We'll probably hear from them more often once Boise and Mesa start their seasons. For now, we have to rely on Arizona Phil's reports.

  3. Thanks! I knew his name sounded really familiar. Ah, duh. Can't believe I forgot that one. #-o
  4. Would you mind checking some of the BA Cubs' Top 10 lists? I want to say he's the scout who was attached to guys like Pie, Ceda, Castillo, and Castro, but I can't check. It's been driving me nuts.
  5. I don't know much about Jose Serra's scouting past, although his name really sounds familiar. He was promoted back in January of 2008 from area scout, as memory serves me. So, all we have to go on are his signings last year, of which there were three notable names... 3B Joel Altagracia, Dominican Republic (age 16) - $140,000 bonus SS Carlos Henry, Dominican Republic (age 16) - $110,000 bonus C Ricardo Parra, Venezuela (age 17) It'll probably be awhile before we know whether or not this guy is full of it.
  6. These pink bats keep reminding me of Jacque Jones. I don't like that.
  7. Like I said, the Brewers do not have a reputation for defensive prowess.
  8. My guess is because he was once hit in the head on a pickoff throw. Notice how he always positions his right arm to protect his face.
  9. No. Just...no. Isn't that a bannable offense? As much as I want it to be, it is not.
  10. The Brewers' MO has never been defensively-minded. Just wait until they call up Mat Gamel. He's supposed to make Ryan Braun look like Brooks Robinson at 3B.
  11. Meh, it could be something like what happened last offseason with Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, who were both 19 at the time. Neither might never amount to anything, but they did get contracts from the Pirates.
  12. Actually, he's come out with quite a bit more information, but from what I can tell, he has thus far been unable to substantiate his claims. A lot of this stuff is basically "he said, he said" without any hard evidence. Unless another ref gets busted or some sort of a smoking gun comes out, I don't think we'll ever know if he was telling the truth or just trying to ingratiate himself with federal prosecutors. Link
  13. Id rather face the Mets or Phillies than the Dodgers, who with or without Manny are pound for pound the best team in the NL. Their pitching ranges from promising youngsters to piece of trash veterans. That's not a good combination for a team that wants to compete. Randy Wolf is not going to maintain a 2.95 ERA. The Dodgers would be idiots to have Clayton Kershaw pitch over 200 innings.

  15. He's the best in his field. I'd actually be worried if his name was not mentioned in any of this.
  16. We need some new Sausage Races! http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/8606/custom1241840499690saush.jpg
