  1. Burke's had a good first month of the season. I've liked him for awhile, although he's had a lot of trouble in Low A until this season. Third time's the charm?
  2. Ask BA had something on Raley two days ago. Link The two names that interest me for the Cubs in the early going are HS SS Jiovanni Mier and Sacramento State OF Tim Wheeler. However, the two names that seem to fit the Cubs' MO in the early going are Wil Myers (HS C who is a terrific athlete) and AJ Pollock (Notre Dame OF).
  3. I really hope Brad Miller levels Rondo in Game 6 and dare the NBA to "suspend" him. I think Rondo is owed a hard arse foul. Make that plural and I'd agree with you completely
  4. Last year Ridling was 50K/8 BB in 165 Peoria AB, rather Harveyesque. Thus far he's a more acceptable 12K/9BB/54AB. Still pretty high K-rate for a guy in low-A who's almost 23. But it's progress. He's a fan favorite, but the guy needs to get bumped up to Daytona and succeed there if he wants a realistic chance at making the majors.
  5. Don't forget the irrational love of guys on hot streaks or even hitting reasonably well in AA/AAA. We'd totally be able to trade Jake Fox for Austin Jackson.
  6. Sweet, the overreacting foaming at the mouth brigade has turned on Soto. I can't wait until Soriano has a 1/25 slump so we can rip him apart, too!
  7. or.... uff da !! What a relief? With the way this team has been playing, I think we can only say that particular phrase once the last out of the 9th has been recorded.
  8. It's Doug Davis. We should expect these things these days.
  9. We get to face the Nationals at some point, too. Granted, the Cubs will still find a way to blow it against them, but still...
  10. After pitching to 2 batters in the 8th and not getting either out, tack a walk and a hit onto that line and you can close the book on him.
  11. correct! glad to see we're all on the same page here. It comes down to people's definition of "uber," apparently. Anyone graded as an A- or better is mine, so roughly the Top 15-20 prospects in baseball. I think you can make an argument for having Hosmer that high. I know the guy's struggled since being drafted, but I love the guy's skill set.
  12. For those of you interested, KC uber-prospect 1B Eric Hosmer plays for Burlington. He has been struggling this season, so hopefully he keeps that up for the near future.

  14. Not surprised Gracie was talking food, but what exactly was being said? It was a Harry Caray-like discussion. If you were a sandwich, what kind of a sandwich would you be? This ended up being a text poll asking what kind of a sandwich his broadcast partner was, followed by an innings-long discussion of food and what people are eating at the ballpark tonight.
  15. Between the bug on the WGN broadcast and the sandwich discussion on the D'backs broadcast, this has been an amusingly weird game.
  16. Pretty much, yeah. He's played very, very, very little there in his career.
  17. It was an easy lazy fly ball...that somehow dropped for a hit because every D'back near it decided that someone else was going to field it.
  18. Because Brad Miller is the better outside shooter. Better FT shooter, too.
  19. The CSN feed has been outstanding tonight. King has been frothing at the mouth for the past five minutes.
