  1. Wouldn't say they looked all that great in the second half. Watched the whole game and they weren't moving the ball, Benjamin looked like the rookie he is and Cam seemed a bit off. They were gifted the win by Cutler late. If Chicago takes care of the ball and I think the game has a different outcome. Total yards on drives in the second half: 86, 38, 8, -3, 6, 23, -2 Take away that last drive as it was victory formation and they had one great drive to start followed by 74 yards in 5 drives. The offense sucked plain and simple.
  2. I'm not a Bears fan but Trestman is a quality coach. Losses aren't on him.
  3. Until further notice the biggest choker in the NFL title has been transferred from the Manning brothers to Cutler.
  4. No, that's honestly probably worse than a break. Ankle ligaments take forever to heal and in many cases are never the same again. A break probably would have been a shorter recovery period. I just broke my ankle a week ago in similar fashion playing soccer. Your ankle dislocates because the tibia and fibula (ans sometimes the talus) are broken. He may or may not have ligament damage, but I'd be shocked if that wasn't broken. Watch his ankle roll outward -- This kind of injury is also known as a syndesmotic injury, or, more commonly, a high ankle sprain. The Deltoid ligament on the inside may also sprained or torn as part of the transfer of stress from the injury. This requires surgery. In my case, ORIF (open reduction and internal fixation) where they open your leg, put your bones back into place, and fix things with screws and plates. How many depends on the damage. Healing is pretty straightforward. You're in a temporary plaster cast held in place with ace bandages for 1-2 weeks, with immobilization in a boot for another 4-5 weeks. While in the boot, you can do flexibility exercises -- but no weight on the ankle. After 6 weeks, you are out of the boot and can start walking again. Normal estimated healing is 3 months, depending on level of care. Assume that RGIII is a fast healer with the best care, and he could possibly be back in December. Thought this was a good bit of info from Bill Barnwell:
  5. Apparently we have a very esteemed, never do wrong board. 65% on ESPN poll said they agree with the AP reinstatement, yet it seems nearly everyone on here thinks the Vikings were wrong. As far as McDonald situation, his is different than everyone else. He has not been charged or indicted. Everyone else has been charged and evidence of the wrongdoing exists. There is no evidence against McDonald at this point. Only real info that exists is that it was a birthday party, his girlfriend had marks that could have been from being hit (police don't know yet) and multiple teammates were at the party and one (Vernon Davis) tweeted that he was there and didn't see anything. This is not Ray Rice (video proof), Greg Hardy (found guilty but awaiting appeal) or AP (indicted).
  6. Let's not forget Smith has value from his running ability as well. KC finally used it last season, the first team to do so since he was in college.
  7. Guaranteed amount: 4 years/$45 mil What QB's "out there" could amass 435 yards and 4 TD's in a postseason game? Are there QB's better? Duh, but they aren't available. Smith is an above average QB. Great at limiting mistakes and capable of making a big play when needed. Not a 5,000 yard guy, but he is great for the type of team KC is.
  8. You don't pay a good chunk of money while guaranteeing much more over 7 years to get an extra month. Just because we don't have much on the books now, we shouldn't go spending extra on players we already control for the foreseeable future. That is a very nearsighted view and one a good GM wouldn't see.

  10. Took them long enough. If I were the Browns, I'd be pissed at how long this took There are a few the NFL has dragged out and it is [expletive].
  11. A 7-9 team from last year despite 6 games against SF, Seattle and Arizona, not to mention starting Kellen Clemons for 9 games, loses it's starting QB, who is a former No. 1 pick, who the team went all in with this season despite chances to draft one of the top prospects, and it isn't a story during the preseason? Face it, you're wrong Derwood.
  12. You think he'll have 10+ HRs in the last 33 games? I don't think so. I think teams will get enough film by the end of the season and start throwing to the areas he can't lay off. Maybe he makes an adjustment and get a dozen more but I think the most likely scenario is he keeps hitting in the low .200s but doesn't have as good of a HR-to-hit ratio. I think he'll end around 12 HRs which would still be ridiculous for 1/3 of a season.
  13. http://nesn.com/2014/08/report-robert-griffin-iii-starting-to-alienate-some-teammates-video/ Not overly surprising. He comes off as a good guy who had things come to easily and hasn't really grow up yet. Kind of a mental midget when it comes to criticism too.
  14. If you can get a top flight RB, you get it. WR is a much deeper position and more quality WR's emerge each year than RB meaning you can find good ones later in the draft. With a flex position you can use two RB's so get one great one and if one falls to you later grab him too.
  15. Wouldn't mind Paxton either. That said most of those guys are untouchable I'd think. Hard to get good, cheap pitching.
  16. How can you hate a guy named Castro?* *I know you don't, really. If his first name is Fidel ...
  17. I liked his NBA vids with Jalen Rose but that was because all his arrogance was in jest with Rose laughing at it. On ESPN he is annoying but left to his own I found him funny.

  19. 2-1 Germany with Argentina's goal coming late when Germany is bunkering down
  20. LOL at people thinking because someone is a defender it must mean they can't be amongst the best strikers for 12 yards out on a free kick. Must not have played the game to think that.
  21. Russell comes off as a 2-hole guy to me. Decent average, decent OBP and 20 HR power. Alcantara seems to have less power but similar averages making him more of lead-off guy in my eyes. Who the eff knows really though. Off of what we know now iti would go Alcantara-Russell-Rizzo-Bryant-Castro-Baez. Not sure on the last part. Baez is so hit or miss I'd like to through a good average guy in front. Could also swap Russell and Castro since Castro is already a decent hitter. And I'll stop rambling now.
  22. Opt out and get a higher salary due to being a resign?
  23. Say please.
  24. Except in this fantasy world of yours Bosh is on the Rockets and we've seen what Beverely can do to a star PGs knee.
  25. They share one player in common, not sure how you pull the because one was the other has to be. And I'm not sure why what Wade did the past four years is relevant to Irving being worse currently which is where this tangent started. Let's also not pretend Wade was a world beater the past four years. He was a very good compliment to James but he didn't carry the load very often at all. When LeBron was off Wade got worse and worse at picking up the slack as the years went by. This past season he was a poor second option and no better than say Mo Williams with the Cavs in the playoffs. He occasionally did something that made you think he was an all-star but would then disappear for another game and half. Any team is "beatable" so saying that is pointless. Even the 70 win Bulls team lost nearly 15 percent of the time. Point is both teams had LeBron and that is it so the Miami was fallible so the Cavs can be beat stuff is rubbish.
