  1. Wow, just over 5 days to pick a kicker..
  2. OHH booya. Just got done beating the DiamondBacks 2-0 on a strong pitching performance by Johan Santana. A Homer by Sammy, and then a Sac Fly by Pie accounted for the scoring. EDIT: Stupid selfish sammy only hitting solo HR's
  3. I didnt OVER edit sammy. I moved his contact up to about 85 vs righties and 86/87 vs lefties, and put his power to 90 vs both. Thats not too far away from what he was at one time...years ago. Anyways, right now I am 24-1 this year. My one loss? A 1-0 loss against the cardinals in game 2 of the season :(
  4. sammy's dive in pittsburgh a few years back that saved the game, and for the moment, our hope in the season :(
  5. I am also MVP-ing it up right now. My Lineup is: Justin Upton (traded for him when he was in the minors) Eric Patterson Sammy Sosa (Ok so maybe I edited him to make him a little better...so what) Aramis Ramirez Derrek Lee Miguel Cabrera (For some reason Florida accepted Pierre/rusch/some Minor leaguer for him) Michael Barrett Pie Pitcher Bench: Walker Blanco Harvey Burroughs Rotation: Z Prior Wood Santana Liriano Ok so let me explain that rotation, after the 05 season in my game, Murton and Cedeno both had outstanding years, so I traded them (and rich hill, and one other whom i cant remember) for Santana, and liriano who was still in the twins minors. Bullpen: Jerome Williams Kyle Farnsworth (traded Howry for him) Greg Maddux Angel Guzman Scott Eyre Ryan Dempster David Aardsma Yummmmm
  6. Unfortunately it isn't pronounced the way it looks, though it would be funny. Darn.
  7. If we can get TWO more owners we will set a draft time. Also, I renamed the divisions: International Division National Division American Division. If anyone has any ideas for any cool names feel free to share. Anyways, Two more people would give three, three team divisions.
  8. I have no other comment than that his name is simply awesome.
  9. Hmm, the waiver thing could get interesting....I vote two rounds. But if we're not through this round by the end of the week then we probably should anyways.
  10. I'm gonna go ahead and set a deadline for August 31, if all (or enough of...say 8 to 10) our old league/newpeople sign up for this league by then, then we will play as scheduled. Otherwise I'm just going to step down as commish and delete my team so it isnt a hassle for everyone involved. Thanks.
  11. Also, I like the blue alternative jearsys alot. I rank the current cub uni's as... 1. Pinstripe/Blue alt. 2. Blue Alt/Pinstripe .... .. . . . . . . 29729723459249564. Those hideous grey road uniforms.
  12. When it was first announced that the names would be taken off I was sad because Im young enough to where i had never seen a nameless cubs jearsy. Now, however, I love them. And i'll be pretty upset if they put names back on.
  13. Yah, ron is a homer. But, uhm, he is the COMMENTATOR on the CUBS RADIO NETWORK. He's not a play by play guy and he's not on an impartial network. I love listening to him, i just havent done it all season because, to be honest, I cant stand hearing him get so pissed over this worthless team.
  14. It would be so much more fun if his birthday was actually 4-3
  15. Adam Vinatieri
  16. I wish this stupid association between speed and a leadoff man would just die. THe point of a leadoff man is to get on base. Not to be supersuper fast. If you cant get a hit it doesnt matter how fast you can run.
  17. I doubt its true just based on the fact that he signed that bit extension right after the season.
  18. Well there you may have an argument but the "only gets hits when they dont count" BS is incoherant jibberish.
  19. That's some of the most nonsensical gibberish I've read. I'll try and clear it up. Walker was never clutch. Yet he always seemed to be hitting .280-.290 when you looked at his stats, He would always seem to get that 2 out double in the 7th inning with the Cubs down 8-0. He did take pitchers, and get on base...trouble is he would have trouble beating a parapalegic in a footrace. So, even though he got on base more than everybody not named Barrett or Murton, he hit a "soft" .280? And what makes him not clutch? The fact he was FOURTH in RBI's behind Ramirez, Barrett, and Jones? Oh, but its his speed that gets him in trouble, right? Unlike, say, Juan Pierre. I mean, WOW, he's so fast! He must get on base SO much more, and do SO much more damage! (actually no, his OBP is 30 points lower)
  20. Yep, on the days they were our starting middle infielders....
