  1. Also, the BUDWEISER building across the street was getting a new roof today when I was there. Well, really just a new tarp over the roof. It still says budweiser but now it's got either a bottle in the background or just the Anheuser-Busch symbol, I can't tell. But there's definitely more going on in the background opposed to just the word budweiser. Lots of little (and big) changes this season.
  2. Yep http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v429/KingJME/wrigleyoldvnew.jpg No pointless dirt circles. And the new home plate area is a perfect circle now.
  3. Hmm. My shift doesnt start till 11. Methinks i'll show up an hour early....
  4. Its akward to know that you could have been spying on all of us today while we were walking around the park. Oh, and I had my first (two) wrigley field hotdog(s) today. Yummm. I hate you.. Oh, well. That'll be me soon enough. They were having the concessions people "Practice" so that served as a free lunch for us. Nothing is better than a 87 dollar hotdog for free.
  5. Rumor is Willie Mays and Hank Aaron will be present for the Ernie Banks ceremony. Sweetness.
  6. Mike Hill was saying today that they are going to absolutely everything in their power to get the game in monday. Mainly because they have LOTS of sports stars/politicians coming in for the Ernie Banks ceremony and they don't want to have to move everything back a day. Game included.
  7. Its akward to know that you could have been spying on all of us today while we were walking around the park. Oh, and I had my first (two) wrigley field hotdog(s) today. Yummm.
  8. *raises hand* Ditching 3 of my 7 classes for the week (stupid 3 class mondays) to go to "work" if you can call it that. Hopefully I'm posted in the lower deck (or upper deck really) so I can actually watch the game. Anywhere but the bleachers or a gate.
  9. What I don't get is look at the part of the mound closest to the field. If a pitcher isn't careful, he could land on half grass half dirt. That could be dangerous.
  10. Looks about right. When I was leaving they were just putting that green deal over the home plate area and finishing filling in the mlb logo on the opening day thing behind home plate.
  11. I can't hate farnsworth- but pagan was easy. He sucked.
  12. I'm ditching classes to work this game. It should be fun.
  13. nah. I was going to whip out my cell phone while i was on break but the sun was giving my phones craptastic camera fits.
  14. Werd. I just called emailed my teachers monday telling them that i'll be unable to attend. I'm working opening day because they were in need of help with all the hoopla surrounding the Ernie Banks thing - anyway, I don't want to have to call off tuesday too. Let's go, weather. Stay clear plz. Though, I'd be seriously down for some 60 degree temps.
  15. I'll post it here since it's relevant: I'll also add that the field looks pretty good. It's not as bright green as we're used to (even by opening day standards) because as I wrote above, the grass has not completely taken to the sand yet. Also, while I was there today they were raking/packing/raking/watering ( wash rinse repeat..) the infield dirt as well as painting the OPENING DAY symbol behind the plate. They were also mowing the checkerboard pattern into the grass while I was there - it looked pretty good.
  16. Best of luck to Davis (and your cousin, btw). Cancer is satan in tumor form.
  17. Dont worry. I've got madd taekwondo skills.
  18. Wow, he is a terrible GM. He's making bad decisions for the wrong team. What a clown.
  19. I absolutely despise this argument. "He wasted 3 1/2 years of our time." How about this - We ruined his baseball career by pitching him 211 innings in his first full season in the big leagues and routinely leaving him out there for more than 110 pitches. In fact, in just short of TWO THIRDS of his starts that year he was left on the mound for 110+ pitches (19 out of 30) And that was just the regular season. The Cubs destroyed his arm - they lost all ability to be mad about him getting injured when they did that. It'd be like me shooting my car engine with a shotgun then getting pissed at the dealer for selling me a lemon that won't start. He has a perfectly good reason to be mad at us - we killed his arm. And who can be mad at him for going to SD? That's his home. He was unhappy here - he went somewhere where he'd be happier AND get paid more. Are you telling me you've never been unhappy at a job and wished you could quit and go somewhere where you'd be happy? This whole Prior-Hate thing is ludicrous.
  20. It probably won't be a big deal. I was seated behind some Astros fans at the home opener last year and they really didn't get too much flack. Fully expect to catch a few more boos if you're in the bleachers though.
  21. As long as you aren't too vocal and don't rub it in when (if...heh) the brewers score you'll be fine. Expect to be Booed a little when you cheer (ESPECIALLY if you're in the bleachers) - but really nothing more than is to be expected of visiting enemy territory. There are morons in every crowd, however. If you get things thrown at you or are physically threatened - Crowd Management will be on it in no-time. We have eyes all over the darn place. You should be fine though.
  22. ++++ Werd. Plus i have a pile of homework to do. It will be over in no time.
