Crowd Control I was standing against the wall, facing the fans, in the isle that the HR flew right over. I turned around as soon as i heard the crack of the bat and saw the fans in my section get wide-eyed. I knew it was coming my way and I didn't want to get hit by a line-drive. Then I realized I would probably look like a clown in the replay - luckily for me you can't tell who i am in that video thanks to it being so blurry. How'd you get that job? How many games do you do? Can you watch the game, are are you told to constantly looking to see if there is trouble? You can do every home game. But because of constraints of my school schedule I have to miss a couple - I'm doing something like 73 of the games. And it really depends on where I'm working. If I'm at a gate doing bag-check I don't see a single pitch. But that only happened to me once. Since then i've been in bleachers. In bleachers I have to stay facing the fans but nobody really gets upset if I look over my shoulder for important pitches. 3-2 counts, 2 outs, bases loaded, etc. As long as I dont stay turned around. Now, if I'm in the grandstands then I walk up and down the isles all game. And so when i'm walking down towards the field I can watch. Then if I'm really lucky I'll get an on-field job one day. But that, obviously, is usually reserved for vets. I'll probably be in bleachers all year though since I'm big and apparently have done a real good job there thus far.
