  1. Bruce Levine still in AZ. Cubs are looking to acquire 2 OF, preferably high .OBP and speed. Need runners on base in front of the big boys to drive in. Carl Crawford is drawing interest and still working on the contract he signed w/Theo/Boston. Could EJax be moved to WSox for John Danks-two bad contracts? WSox need a RH starter and Danks is #4 LH pitcher. Plenty of talk of swapping your bad contract for my bad contract. More later...
  2. I was at an ALS fundraiser last night and Mattingly was honored. A coworker (Yankees fan) spoke with him briefly and asked, "what's it like dealing with Puig?" and Mattingly's answer was, "You have no idea." with an exasperated look. We have all come to a consensus that this means he is clearly going to get dealt, so there's that. Thanks for your ALS support. What a terrible disease. Since Puig has a very manageable contract for the next 4 years as I remember, wonder what we could offer? I know Kapler had been managing in Israel, but doesn't it seemed he jumped out of nowhere for this job? Met the Mattinglys when they were living in Evansville and good people. Still has one of the sweetest swings.
  3. I think we have the depth at the corner OF slots, but need some CF help. Mendy is still learning and Lake is a question mark with his bat. Torii Hunter would have my interest but his age may be working aqainst him and don't know what he has left in the tank. But he's good in the clubhouse and could mentor the young ones for a couple years. Totally against signing Russell Martin to a 4 year deal, as I have confidence in Schwarber developing into a strong backstop. I'm afraid years 3-4 of a Martin deal would be bad. And of course, I'd trade Castro for a #2 starter today.
  4. Bruce Levine says on his Sat. AM show: PR release on Maddon hire artfully crafted. Rays concentrated on pitching to compete and Maddon knows how to handle young and older pitchers. Feels FA acquistions will be 1 high priced starter and can't rule out trade for another pitcher. Yankees, Mets, Dodgers need SS and will definitely inquire about deal for Castro. Ozzie Guillen may be considered for bench role because Maddon likes "good baseball men". Sale of 2 Loukas rooftops almost complete @ $6M. Questioned whether this would decrease value of the others. 17 Rooftops generate $24M and Cubs get $3M+. TV deal still not put together. Expect extension announcement for Theo and Jed. Awkward to have Maddon at 4-5 years and Theo on 2 years. If anyone else listened, please add.
  5. thanks Editing your mistakes won't help you. You remain confused and fell down in the process. Laughable.
  6. FTFY. Yeah, Felix, you're confused. Right. On hold with Mike Franseca I see.
  7. I'd be really concerned about where this leaves Renteria, especially in the eyes of the players. Oh please! It's a business. Are you really concerned about Edwin Jackson's feelings? Wonder how Castillo will deal with such trauma? A number of the up and coming younger players wouldn't know Ricky from Len Kasper. They just want a chance to play and prove themselves. If I'm a free agent, Maddon has a resume. You aren't good at reading comprehension, are you? I'd be really concerned about where this leaves Renteria, especially in the eyes of the players. You aren't real good at remembering what you wrote. But you do back peddle good. Starting now.

  9. Was he the really large African American behind home plate with the Giants jacket on? If anything it prevented that obnoxious fan in the orange Marlins top from sitting there and he had to stand in the aisle all game. The guy is a lawyer from Fort Lauderdale who obviously has way too much money and time on his hands.
  10. Maybe if you pulled your pants up and stopped being a d*ck, we'd all be better off. Your life is very sad if your emotions are limited to people you know.
  11. Don't know if this has been answered, but what did they do with the ivy in RF/LF? I hope they dug it up by the roots, are caring for it and will plant it when the walls are up. Of course they'll have to reattach the vines because it take years to get new ivy back. I read they are going to re-cycle the old bricks, back into project. I remember when they tore down Comiskey Park, a firm paid for all of them because of their age and quality. The Sox had to hire a security firm to guard them 24 hrs a day because fans were stopping and taking some.
  12. I do think Theo goes a little over the top with his Manny praise, but many Cub fans have short term memories. Sammy never tried to stop a ball with his backside or pull any of the antics that Manny got away with on the field in his career. Sammy gave us a lot of 155+ game seasons and plenty of good memories. The sooner the Cubs have a day for him, welcome him back and we can move forward with our current dreamboys, the better off all of us will be. I'm all for giving people a second chance and if Manny can help the team, then fine.
  13. Checking out where he spent most of his career-the whirlpool and trainer's room.
  14. Theo's philosphy is to work the count, not try to jack the first pitch as we did in 2014. He was little help to the new kids(Baez, Lake, Olt) and most of the veterans like Castillo, Barney, etc.. were hacking. Soler gets it. Hard to rate Mueller anything less than a C.
  15. You're right...it doesn't mean much. I channeled Miss Cleo last night and she said Beth Murphy would be a candidate for any Cubs' daycare plans. $100
  16. It was kinda underwhelming to say the least. Most of us were expecting some retrospective of all the highlights that the Cubs had on WGN. To walk away like this without a mention was terrible. Bozo's Circus got a bigger send-off.
  17. Did you sleep during the season? For example- Friday, Aug. 8th against Tampa. Gametime 3:05 PM. What national game was being televised then?
  18. that's not how stuff works As usual you add nothing to the discussion. Consistent, though.
  19. The Cubs screwed the pooch by taking the only team with 50+ home games starting @ 1:20PM to a mish mash of times. Here's what 2014 brought us for times at home: 12:05, 1:20, 3:05, 5:45, 6:05, 6:15, 7:05. Not sure any other team has such a collection of strange starting times. And like baseball players being creatures of habit, Cub fans took comfort knowing that gametime was @ 1:20. Remove the geographic blackout restrictions and allow Comcast to show the 1:20 games(after all who the hell are they competing against at that time) for starters. MLB-tv can then show the same games on their main channel or alternative channel. And so on....
  20. "has become?" you just referenced something that happened 15 years ago. i don't recall it ever having any real meaning but it at least seems to be going to deserving players more often than it used to (and less often to outrageously undeserving players like it used to) "you don't recall?". Expand your baseball knowledge. It did not begin with you being hatched.
  21. The Gold Glove Award has become a real joke. Palmeiro won the Gold Glove in the late 90's and played less than 30 games at first. And Jeter won so many because he was simply a Yankee. Sad, because it used to have meaning.
  22. I just heard him on the Score and he didn't say he was getting an MRI. Just echoed the same stuff from yesterday that if it doesn't get any better today or tomorrow, they'll have him get an MRI. Is this a new report since that? And now you know. Sources.
  23. Per Len Kasper: Rizzo's back hasn't loosened up any. MRI this week. Probably will be held out for the Brewers series completely.
  24. Don't know if he's a miracle worker or not. Dave Duncan received alot of accolades as having the ability to salvage pitchers' career or even lifting them to a higher level. Ray Miller was a pretty good pitching coach. Always thought Larry Rothschild was over-rated by us. The right coach can get the best out of the staff.
  25. The FO earned their bones with the mid season trades. They did their homework and these throw-ins like Hendricks, NRam and others really have the potential to be very good. I hope they treat September as early spring training and we see more of Doubront, Turner and Straily as starters. Wada may have his age working against him and would not be surprised if Wood was offered around.
