  1. Wells is really good at not getting hit hard. His SLG against is freaking great.
  2. Yep. And Lovie is on a flight back to Chicago from Charlotte with Peppers and his agent. It sounds like it's gonna be Manumanaleuna, Peppers, and Taylor...and still probably a safety, though not necessarily today on that one. Angelo was a hero after the Cutler deal, a huge goat after the season, and now everybody is gonna love him again...or at least like him a whole lot more. Mike & Mike compared Chicago to Washington this morning, and they were saying "we know this doesn't work." Sour grapes. ....And they failed to mention Washingtons QB's were.... Then they mentioned 4 teams who don't go after high prized FA and are consistant winners. NE, Indy, Philly, Pit. Well they are consistant winners because they have the QB's, the most important position in football. And they forgot NE signed Adalius Thomas to huge FA contract a couple years ago. I like the Peppers signing. Need a very good oline FA though.
  3. Ive had it for 4 or 5 years straight. Each year something new comes out and it takes a couple weeks for them to iron out the problems. Last years quality was pretty damn good, only draw back was it lagged the real time by about 30+ seconds. The non premium was close to live and still good quality. I think its worth the extra $20 alone to get the home and away broadcasts. I cant remember how many spring training games, 10+? I didnt follow those as much as i have in the past.
  4. Well im glad you've added so much to the discussion. And im not about to blabber on some long winded analysis of some 19 year old with little data available and state with certainity his projectability. But if you can go right ahead.
  5. That's a stupid way of breaking down TV revenues. Enlighten me to a better way. This is similar to what people talk about Texas bringing to the TV revenues if they came to the B10. This is why the B10 would be interested in Texas, expanding the B10 network to Texas, a heavily populated state. If Penn State were an indepedant do you think the B10 network would be all that popular in that state and local cable operators would pay for the channel. No. Look at the B10 tv and SEC tv contracts compared to the other conferences and look at the pop difference.
  6. I havent even seen him play yet, nor is there a lot of history for me to have a strong opinion on him. today i say below average. stat wise im luke warm on him, i know he had a good winter so that bumped him up to below average from omar infante expecations before that.
  7. How does Northwestern suck at football. They dont have the 2 great years that illinois had in the 2000s but they have been more consistant winners than them. Illinois has been pretty sucky suck for all but 2 years in the last 10. Indiana has the worst football program in the B10 bar none. Going by TV revs(population being a crude form) iowa is probably the lowest when it comes to their state. Minnesota is almost twice as big as them. Indiana 'shares' the population with Purdue. Penn State and Ohio State bring it when it comes to accessing that states TV market. Michigan and MSU bring it but split it too, but both also have good national exposure. Iowa and Indiana are near the bottom on bringing it.
  8. Of all the things that constitute cheating by the NCAA, this has to be the least bad, and quite possibly the most frequently abused. Id wager that this type of off season practices he conducted at Michigan were the same as what he did at WVU. I have a hard time imagining that all of sudden Rich says 'hey now that im at michigan im going to push the envelope'. Still doesnt make the offseason program justified. And from what ive read so far the penalties shouldnt be harsh. Practice time gets cut/adjusted etc. but spread out over a couple years. 2 years probation, maybe a couple schoolies in 2010. The black eye to Rich and the programs is probably a bigger negative than the actual penalties coming.
  9. I like Bradford for his scary accuracy and quick release. Rocket arm no, but good enough. As much qb passing talents as Drew Brees and Tom Brady, does he have the skills up top to match theirs is the question in my mind. I like him better than Stafford when he came out.
  10. Curling is so awesome. Its one of the few winter olympic sports i could actually see doing without killing myself or breaking half the bones in my body. In 2006 there was a lot of curling on msnbc and cnbc, this years coverage blows so far in regards to curling.
  11. Man there are some hot chics this winter besides just Vonn. The snowboarding teams has some women that are easy on the eyes too. And i havent even looked at the Swedes or other countries yet.
  12. I would embrace Texas with open arms. This would be awesome. This is way more interesting to me than ND. Pac 10 has no shot at Texas, if Texas doesnt leave for the B10 they aint leaving.
  13. The SuperBowl edition of Inside the NFL on showtime was pretty sweet. Payton was debating the onside kick after they made it 10-3 and even before the game he had a private conversation with the refs dicussing the onside kick and how it was going to happen so the refs would be on the lookout. Some other good stuff with players miked. NFL films is awesome.
  14. Yeah this game's matchup's are going to be really interesting. With both offenses full throttle its about RZ defense to me. FG's are a victory for a defense. Turnovers and flipping the field are always big and NO is better but that was front loaded in the beginning of the season. The first 10 games of the season Saints team wins this game, if they can regain that im in their corner. They blew out people this year at a much higher rate and higher margin than Indy and i look at that as the best of NO beats the best of Indy. You could break this thing down so many ways and decide on one team and then still be torn like a sheet in the wind. Ill be 3 sheets to the wind and not because of the matchups. Great football to be had.
  15. Well im pretty excited about Martz. I forgot about Az Hakim, he has really turned some guys into some playmakers out of his slot position. Knox or Hester are going to kick ass in that role. Martz makes these receivers better but he wont make the line better. This is the job of JA and they need to get a bad ass FA signing. Williams at LT is more than solid. Get a bad ass Guard and try to shore up the interior of this line. Overpay for a guard if you have to.
  16. Rogers could suck way worse than Martz would ever suck. The upside of Rogers is nowhere near the Martz's upside. Again when Detroit dumped Martz that was their worst decision, that offense fell worse in the s'er than you could imagine. Martz made guys like Furrey and McDonald some pretty bad ass players with Jon Fn Kitna and Backus as the the LT. And when Martz came to town..boom he used K. Jones pass catching skills just like he would with Forte. Running the football only means anything in short yardage and red zone and thats the Oline not the coordinator. Forte can run short yardage if he isnt running into a wall of asses. Are we going to credit Norv Turner for the Dallas Cowboys running game or with E. Smith and the oline? Get Martz and oline and watch out.
  17. Carmichael Jr. Well i like the Saints offense. Alot. Maybe the Saints will let him go because its Sean calling the plays anyway.
  18. That's a good question. Normally we try and tie in the cities involved for the menu. Obviously in this case you'd have to go all New Orleans, because Indy offers nothing. I need to get on that menu. i really want to do something different than just the usual steaks and wings. Gumbo sounds good, but I've never made it before. We did Jumbolaya last week. Thats pretty easy courtesy of an Emeril recipe.
  19. Who let the lady in here? Food? Forget food. What's everyone drinking should be the question. Im making a big ol batch of Hurricanes. Someone is going to fall on their face at our party.
  20. I don't get the Mike Nolan thing. Dude turned around a terrible terrible defense.
  21. Would of been nice to allow the OC to hire his own OL coach.
  22. Dooley seems like a home run or bust type. He's not going to have a lot of room for error. If he's average he will get canned because he doesnt have the luxury of a resume to say 'lets be patient'. Interesting choice though.
  23. Martz blew the doors off the Lions offense he went to detroit. They had a crappy oline and journey man qb in kitna and they threw up a lot of yards and points. The year after he left Detroits offense hit the crapper. Warner got sacked a little more under Martz than at Arizona but not enough to go crazy about. The ints were a little higher in STL but again not earth shattering. Martz would probably utilize Forte's pass catching skills and under utilize Olsens (unless he puts him in the slot ala Dallas Clark). Bears could sign Martz probably for 1 or 2 years at the most and if doesnt work out all that great no biggie, if it does hes a lifer as he wont be getting another HC in the NFL again. I dont care about the running game so much anyway, running game is only important for short yardage and redzone and thats more of an emphasis on the oline talent than the play calling. Turner is gone and Martz would be a huge upgrade.
  24. Chris Williams against Jared Allen, biggest impact of this game for the future of the Bears imo. Very excited to see him do well. Young LT on the most important position on the line, now work from there. This win wont save RT, i didnt think Lovie was going to get fired after this year anyway so i dont think this W saves his job anymore than its already been saved. Hey i saw Gilbert on the field, i was watching the game at a bar so its hard to play close attention to everything to see how he played. Devin Part 2, nice to see him do well too. Again, i firmly believe the major flaws on this offense is the O coach and oline. Coach can be fixed quickly, oline is 2-3 years. The skill positions im good with, yes they could use a Reggie Wayne but the biggest impact they can make to fix the team is the oline. It was the QB and LT before this year, those are fixed and we saw flashes of that last night.
  25. This VDN situation is FUBAR.
