  1. Wouldn't you want the walk so that you get to the better hitter at the top of the order? A walk would win the game in this scenario so i neednt worry about that. I guess im also assuming im facing a top notch reliever in this situation, therefore hes probably good enough to throw strikes and im not likely to get a walk. If the pitchers remaining in the pen or the mound has a bad walk rate id put in blanco.
  2. Jose. More likely than corey or neifi to put the ball in play with about the same average. Blanco has a better obp than jose but i dont plan on winning the game with a walk.
  3. Does the Dusty Baker Book Club have a book review on the Indians yet. Because they should. Once that gets published and they review it, the tribe will instantly suck. Foreward- Al Campanis old quotes and taped discussions Chapter 1-Sizemore, Peralta Chaper 2-Crisp, Martinez, and Hafner Chapter 3-Rewrite on Cliff Lee Chapter 4-Update on Bob Wickman Published by- The Way It Was Back Then
  4. Jaxx baxx are up against a wall.
  5. Lee Corso says Michigan State is a better team than Michigan. Im pretty sure he had michigan as a preseason top 5 team, and now MSU is better? Please. Michigan is 14 now, that would mean MSU is near top ten. Please. Drew Stanton is an underatted qb and i give them that but they have played 2 crappy teams. As much as i rant about Michigan's defense MSU's is awful. Their DLine will get pounded into submission tomorrow vs ND. If MSU wins and they can win its because of Drew Stanton and his offense.
  6. Ouch for Atlanta: right as Hampton's contract bumps up, he might be slated for Tommy John surgery. insurance covers most of it This is very interesting. Will they use that money and now spend it on Furcal. Im iffy on Hunter especially at 10-12M. We can talk about his production not living up to his salary but isnt corey making $2.8 this year and slanted for more next year. He aint a bargain either.
  7. I agree im done with him. Trade him for younger prospects and free up that space on the 40 man roster. He isnt a serviceable reliever and is behind too guys for a spot in the rotation. Therefore all he is doing is taking up space on the 40 man for someone who can be of use to the major league club. If he gets swept away via the Rule V adios muchacho.
  8. Whoa Billingsley's stats are sick in the last 7 games!! Good luck to eric and the gang!
  9. Didnt Harang pitch well against the Cubs last time? Cant let him have 2 in row.
  10. Ah the Tigers. They are getting out from under the Higginson and Dmitri contracts this year. Thats about $18M right there. They have been liking to make a big splash in the offseason the last 2 years and are not afraid to overpay so they might be willing to eat a lot of Thomes contract. They could trade Craig Monroe to the Phillies to play CF or Nook Logan. Shelton at 1B and Thome DH/1B. Thome to the Mets would seem to make sense but would divisional rivals do such a thing. It would benefit both. Even though the Phillies are the not the Cubs divisional rivals, with the wild card there is a competive issue. Id like to see the Phillies trade Howard :-)
  11. Edmonds makes some great catches with his back to the infield. He also makes bad mistakes in the gap. If the gold glove is about highligts its Edmonds. If its about consitency its Jones. Jones is great in the gaps and i hardly ever seen jones get beat. He makes CF look too damn easy. Both are great, its like splitting hairs. Steiner is doing radio for the dodgers.
  12. the neifmeister is still playing though :( Meatloaf: "Two out of three aint bad' :D
  13. What are the Phillies going to do this offseason with Thome and Ryan Howard, will they look to trade either? Thome, at age 35, has 3 years left on his contract. $12.5M in 2006 and $14M in 2007-08. They cant go in the direction of having Howard on the bench behind Thome for 3 more years. Do they trade Howard or dump Thome now to a big market team? NYY and Boston could use a first basemen like Thome, NYY more probable. Also the Dodgers could use some power at 1b. Phillies could eat some money and still save a boatload on Howard. Having Thome on the market would be interesting.
  14. Got the day off tomorrow so i can catch the late game. Id like to see my boy JVB pitch for once but with Z on the mound im not that hopefull. Gimme a Cedeno/Murton sighting and i might be all right.
  15. Isnt this the home teams decision on when the start of game is?
  16. I'll be pretty pissed. Hairston should be in CF and lead off. Cedeno in short. Same thing goes for tomorrow vs lowry. Will they get back to back starts?
  17. Hitters (in order) 1. Murton 2. Patterson 3. Sing 4. Cedeno 5. Fuld (.300/.377.433/18SB/50BB/44ks) Pitchers (in order) 1. Hill 2. JVB 3. Nolasco 4. Pinto 5. Gallagher
  18. Dude has repeated many times his frustration with the pitchers walking to many hitters and how much it hurts, its about time he makes the reverse criticism.
  19. Also the second most entertaining pitcher on the staff to watch while on the mound. He's animated and has some crazy deliveries. He does more 360's than Dominique Wilkens! I havent seen him pitch yet. i saw some clips of him warming up yesterday and i was like what is he doing. he looked real hyper.
  20. Its looking pretty good we will se JVB today......
  21. Shut Up! JVB?! Awesome. This is a good day.
  22. Yeeee Ah. Holla gone! Some people brought up that Dusty will use Hairston in LF and i see that happening. But if i happens too much i will be totally pissed at Dusty's hypocracy. Earlier in the year Hairston brought up that he could play LF but Dusty said something like he hasnt done it before he wont learn overnight. Ill go ape if he plays 5 days a week in LF and not Murton.
  23. Ah the annual WS predictions in August. NL: The cards are damn tough team i like the rotationa and pen a lot and the offense just still seems to score runs. The offense weakness will be good pitching but other than the Marlins i dont see that happening. I do like the Marlins almost as much as the Cards but they sure a disappointing team. Maybe second to the Cubs. How do they not have a better record? I like this team IF they can get in. I go with the Cards, something aint right about the marlins. AL: Red Sox-hate the SP. White Sox-love the SP. Yanks-hate that rotation, randy just aint randy anymore. Oak gotta like them, did they play their best baseball already? If oak gets in watch out. I like the SP and i like their offense. Angels, eh SP doesnt do it for me, nice pen though. Whitey Sox terrible OBP is going to get exposed in the playoffs. Cards Vs A's
  24. Furcal's realistic market are these teams: Cubs, Chisox, Seattle, Atlanta?, Dbax?, Houston. All the big market teams are locked in on SS: NYY,Os,Sox,LAA, NYM, LAD, Phi, Was, SF, STL. I think that will somewhat keep the bidding war from going out of control. Of course Kenny W is a pretty crazy guy but dont forget nomar is going to be on the market too and an AL team could use him as a DH. Even though the market is small i think not having the big markets in there helps the Cubs get Furcal at a more affordable price.
  25. Jones' stats are sick. Where did this come from.
