  1. I think the market for Furcal is the smallest. Almost all the big market teams are set for a couple years with a shortstop. Wagner might be a little bigger but not much, again a lot of big market teams are set for closer. Giles will be a big market. Boston/Cards/SD/Cubs/Os
  2. Too bad there isnt a bullpen door to hit Jones in the face at wrigley.
  3. Yeah but those are padded by barrett meaningless hits.
  4. For Cedeno? "dude gotta put walk in the eighth. sometimes cedeno only play 7 in AAA. Walk do this before." actually it was for Nomar. ahh. interesting.

  6. Lee struck out looking with a man on base? When will he learn fundamentals.
  7. Dude, he just scored a run! What's with the hatred for Barrett? Yeah, barrett he just gets the easy hits. everybody else in mlb get the hard ones and can pick and choose to when they want a base hit.
  8. Back to the basics boys. Time to just go to wrigley, drink your beer and have a good time. Same as it is same as it ever was.
  9. Cubs staring pitching SUCKS. expect for Z and P
  10. What are you talking about. He is the 2nd best offensive catcher in the majors PECOTA. Funny i was thinking about that yesteday and laughing at what they predicted barrett would do. I dont have the numbers but i remember reading they thought a progression to his career norm in montreal was likely. which would mean like a .225 hitter. Nice job there BP.
  11. Yeah i mean Lawton he just has no eye at the plate whatsoever. This is a bogus criticism. Is he supposed to be perfect. Whatta joke. Well no, obviously even the best players make mistakes all the time. Obviously a good hitter will do the right thing only 30% of the time. Lawton still has a ways to go to become what you call a "good hitter", let alone being perfect. Two walks in a month ??? Come on !! 08/02 - 08/24 AB R H 2B 3B HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS Lawton 75 8 18 2 0 1 23 4 2 7 0.240 0.269 0.307 0.576 Career

  13. Cleveland has a good, deep pen, and Riske will be too expensive for their low budget. They get pretty decent return for a middle relief/setup guy. Also, Wagner would be the closer in the situation Hoops outlined. I dont know much about there pen but at $2.5M he's not an albertross. They could do much better than wellymeyer and mitre. To be honest i think todd sucks. Sure he throws hard but his offspeed pitch isnt good and his control still needs work. If you look at his as an outsider like cleveland what is so special about him. So when do you trade for Riske? After you sign Wagner? By that time if you miss out on billy you got Riske as your closer and its too late (post dec 15, or whatever that date is) to resign Dempster. Its safer and easier to go with Dempster than Riske. Even if Riske is an upgrade over Dempster it aint by much. Resign Dempster, go after Billy, if that fals through then go after Riske.
  14. Lineup *Not big on Pie in CF next year. *Giles and Furcal id take those at those prices. Starters *Zito seems like a reach. Not only is corey not a beanerballer but he will probably get $3.0M way overpriced. Maybe sending jerome would do it. Pen *Riske. Why not resign Dempster for the same or more money? I dont see why cleveland would do this deal or be interested in trading him. Its safer to resign dempster and then go after wagner, unless they get wagner right away which isnt likely considering how long free agents were on the market last year. I feel better about Dempster as a closer than Riske. *Aardsma/Gooz/JVB fight it out Bench *Im down with that. Heck trade some mid level guys for machowiak.
  15. Is Julio Franco veteran enough for Dusty? No seriously, he would be great for a pinch hitter and its not like Dusty will play him over Lee. $1M is what he is getting this year. He wont get as much PT as he would in Atlanta but you never know.
  16. Is Aram short for Aramis or A Ramirez? Is the C for Cubs or Chicago?
  17. Lawton. dude hasnt been walking as much as id hoped.
  18. how do you hurt your quad running. what is he running backwards to first?
  19. Thats a pathetic thing to say but the state of affairs maybe accurate. Neifi is 7th in NL in OPS and .11 behind Eckstein. So really he is just average, not bad for a backup i suppose. No surpise Neifi is last in GIDP with 15. What sucks is where would Cedeno be on that list and not neifi?
