  1. Gotta have guys on base otherwise its just a bunt for hit attempt.
  2. Ok. IF the plan was to do the squeeze, then ok. (ima squeeze fan)
  3. Why that? Now they only have one chance to drive jones in instead of 2. (Im not counting on marshall)
  4. Thats because the Cubs are hitting the ball so damn hard. So Dusty wouldnt call that luck
  5. This is cool. Time for Murton to do his work
  6. Paul Davis sucks because of the motion offense at MSU. Get him out of that guard/forward system and let him post up a little more or play some pick and roll and he might do well.
  7. Dudes doing pretty good since repeating the A level last year and is putting up better numbers so far this year in AA. Still age appropriate for AA. I dont see why he's not a legitamate prospect, especially as a thirdbaseman. I think hes more a potential big leaguer than Dopirak. .298/365/.546/.911 and sprinkle in 6 SB's whats not to like.
  8. Dusty's act of blaming "The Baseball Gods" for the failures of getting hits or getting on base is getting old. When they were shut out 5 of 15 games they were not hittin the ball hard or working the AB to get on base. Whats the point of a leader (manager) if its up to the 'Gods' anyway. Lets just let Faith and Hope guide us to the WS.
  9. Good question. I could go either way. His plate discipline in the minors wasnt all that great but it did improve almost every year, and he had a nice improvement of "plate mechanics" (bb/k ratio) in AAA. He can go the other way and gets a fair amount of hits late in the count. Downside i see is he doesnt turn on the ball well (except for the homer) and a lot of hits (my perception) are bloops and infield hits. He doenst seem to be 'ripping' singles. He's only 23 and his improvements are pretty solid. I would put the chance of him becoming a solid-very good mlb player than a flame out at 75-25.
  10. Its a good thing this crap is going national.
  11. Pull the plug and be done with it. Move on.
  12. He's Clutch. More than .100 points higher than his total average.
  13. Get this. Jones has a higher batting average than 5 starters on the Padres.
  14. Its been a while since the bullpen can show how they are the strength of the team by holding a lead.
  15. Just bullpen help. Oh, and he'll be up for 4 games, not 3. My mistake. But why not Wuertz if you are going to do that? Ryu has not pitched out of the pen at all this year.
  16. Note to Jim Hendry: You like guys who can catch the ball, how bout guys who can throw the ball. I thought JJ is supposed to be and upgrade over burny.
  17. A pinch hit walk i think. Its called pinch hitting not pinch walking so dont look for him much more.
  18. Its the Guzman/Rusch combo. So much fun!
  19. Montanez. Was the answer really moving him the outfield so he wouldnt have to worry about defense. Its seems so silly but you look at the numbers and we are talking night and day. I know hes a little old for AA but still the reversal is pretty impressive.
  20. You do realize that he's batting .311/.363/.432 against righties this year. It's lefties he's struggling against at .140/.178/.140 Murton is .246/.325/.348 against righties. He's not hitting anyone right now. I'm interested to see if those splits are just a reflection of the ton of lefties we saw during the homestand. Interesting until you take this into consideration: Career Splits L=.298/.343 R=.303/.354 Not much to hang our hat on. EDIT: Dont get me wrong id love to see Juan post those stats. My intent is to show he really isnt that much of a different hitter facing lefites or righties.
  21. Just tuned in. Damn Marshall got blitzed. 9 hits and 5BB in 3.2. OY.
  22. And have Jones/Mabry/Pitcher/Pinch hitter. The only bat the Cubs have from the right side are Hairston/Theriot and Blanco. Neifi as sucky suck as he is is worse from the right. Bynum comes from the left too. That would be such an easy spot to put a LOOGY in. Also after this you would have Cedeno followed by 2 more lefties. Of course what lefty goes 6 batters.
  23. Piere batting 2nd is a good idea. Ill give Dusty that and glad he tried that yesterday. Can Cedeno work on some patience now, please. This is a good spot for him to to do it.
  24. I thought sliding Wainright in the rotation was a logical choice. Guess not.
