  1. Holy [expletive] and I thought Castro was bad. Castro's wOBA is 10 points higher, but Andrus is much better defensively and is probably having the better season :( Andrus has actually manged 0.3 fWAR because of his defense.
  2. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/blog/eye-on-baseball/22465400/report-san-jose-city-council-to-sue-mlb-for-not-allowing-as-to-move City of San Jose suing MLB for not allowing the A's to move.
  3. I don't know how to equate LD% and BABIP, but a .268 BABIP with a LD% of 20 seems low.
  4. fWAR update: -0.8
  5. Because he's striking out 5.2/9 in AAA at 27 years old. They're basically the same age, and one is dominating MLB hitters and one is getting by on an abnormally HR rate against AAA hitters. His K rate is going to jump if he's coming out of the bullpen to face lefties. Russell's K rate in the minors was 6.4.
  6. Marshall might have been been too high of praise, I admit. But I don't see why he couldn't evolve into James Russell.
  7. He's been really solid this year. I think he ends up as the next Sean Marshall/James Russell type.
  8. It'll all come down to a changeup and/or cutter for him. I doubt he's had to use more than his two best pitches to dominate the MWL. Really want to see him in Daytona.
  9. Yeah, that was weird. He comps his projection to Jermaine Dye, who's career slash line is .274/.338/.488. Obviously plenty of power.
  10. Cubs in heavy pursuit of who most teams consider the top international prospect: http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/eloy-jimenez-stands-out-among-international-prospects/
  11. But does Skulina really have better stuff? I know Johnson has a plus fastball and breaking ball (can't remember if it's a curve or slider). Haven't heard anything about his changeup his year.
  12. He could be a number 2 starter? Last year BA said Johnson's ceiling was a 3. #-o
  13. That's pretty cool. Finally somewhere other than Japan.
  14. My photoshop skills are pathetic, but: http://i.imgur.com/ERSLFro.png
  15. That could go up even further than Dale.
  16. No one's going to buy in because of his average stuff. But it's really hard to ignore what he's done, and his performance has nothing to do with luck. I have him 14th right now in my top 15. I guess it's hard to get excited over any Cubs pitcher in the minors right now, so I guess we'll take it. There are two guys that could provide legitimate excitement besides Pierce Johnson. Unfortunately, one of them is probably not going to pitch this year and the other is currently not being allowed into the United States. Blackburn and Underwood could join the group depending on their outings the rest of the year, or even Maples for that matter. Zastryzny as well. note: spell check's suggestion for Zastryzny was Astronomy.
  17. There seems to be an abnormal amount of Cardinals fans working in sports television.
