You guys got me curious about Rosscup, so I looked up his splits. His FIP is 0.77 against lefties with a K% of 47, and a 2.97 FIP against righties with a K% of 32. Drastic split, but it's not like he can't handle righties.
To me, I've got Szczur in the 17-22 range right now and Rosscup outside my top 30. I think a 4th OFer is slightly more valuable than a LOOGY. i guess i think a really good loogy is much more valuable than a blah 4th OF. i think a loogy of rosscup's caliber (assuming his minor league numbers translate) is a lot harder to find than a 4th OF of szczur's potential caliber. Yep, considering Andreoli and Ha have just as much of a chance as Szczur of being a 4th OF.
The Dodgers are getting something close to eleventy billion dollars in TV money. I think they can pretty much spend whatever the hell they want and not give a single [expletive].
Probably because in the minors, most pitchers suck at holding baserunners and most catchers suck at throwing. That's the only thing I can think of, anyway.
Arguello saw Maples a few times at KC and said he was 91-96 with a plus curve. If he's trusting his improved mechanics and the control continues, his stuff will play at A+.
If his new found control is for real, I see no reason why he couldn't handle Daytona. I'm also factoring that's he's going to be 22 for the majority of next year.
