  1. Another confirmation @MikeClayNFL: BREAKING: Former Giants TE Martellus Bennett has informed me that he will sign with the Chicago Bears tonight.
  2. I'm pretty sure the deal is contingent on him signing an extension. What about him can be a real problem? Unless you mean injury problems (migraines/ankle), I haven't heard of any character issues with him. I know he requested a trade, but that doesn't always mean the player has makeup/character issues. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2013/02/12/the-harvin-debate/ So you're saying he can be a headache?
  3. I think I need to start eating carrots, assuming those are still considered vegetables.
  4. I think I had Creighton as a lock, but agreed that neither one is really all that impressive. Creighton has neutral site wins over Wisconsin and Arizona State, and a road win at Cal, which is all pretty impressive and should push them ahead of most of the other bubble teams in discussion. Wichita State has a road win at VCU and neutral court win over Iowa. Not as impressive, and more borderline. The main concern for the bubble teams would be if neither of those teams won the conference tourney, though. my biggest complaints with those teams are their bad losses in conference. usually teams that get at-large consideration from the valley steam roll through it. While both Creighton and Wichita State have mediocre resumes, I can't recall one bubble team, or even one team solidly in the 8-9 seed line, that hasn't had a couple of bad losses this year. Additionally, The Valley is fairly strongish (relatively speaking) this year and combined with one of the weakest bubbles in recent memory, creates two teams who built up good resumes before hitting a rough February patch. Creighton was also helped that the de facto MVC regular season title game ( vs. Wichita State) last Saturday was on ESPN 2 and that they shot 70% overall from the field and Doug McDermott dropped 41 against a pretty good defensive team.
  5. Wisconsin had them pre-record their speeches so they wouldn't ramble or get nervous. The game ended and within 5 minutes the videos were playing on the scoreboard with each one probably in that 3-5 minute range. The whole process took like 30 minutes top with 5 Seniors. Do you think Kentucky pre-records their senior day speeches once the players sign their LOI's?
  6. And, so we come to the tomato... It's a fruit. Period. No discussion needed. A berry, specifically, in case you were curious. I know but I can't accept it. You're not the only one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nix_v._Hedden I don't understand why people have a hard time with "if it has seeds, it's not a vegetable" So why aren't they broadcasting any games for the next 10 days or so? And why are they showing games every day of the first weekend of March Madness? That is annoying. Wait, peppers aren't considered vegetables? If not, what the heck are they considered then?
  7. This is becoming truly bizarre. Unless I don't understand the ACL recovery process enough, but isn't it once the nee is healthy, is there further risk to him coming back this year? I get that if he were to come back that he likely won't be himself this season, but isn't there a benefit to getting game-acclimated and trusting your nee before the beginning of next season? I don't see how not playing a regular season basketball game for 18 months will make him or the team better off.
  8. And they're more interested in Porcello than Mike Maroth. Thanks Bruce. He also mentioned he wouldn't trade Chris Sale for ANYONE in baseball and said the White Sox have a top 5 rotation in baseball. To top it, off, while he admitted the White Sox probably couldn't get PROFAR for [expletive] Viciedo, he basicalky said he'd be hesitant to do it, because Viciedo can hit 30 homers. At one time, Levine had a grasp, due to having solid contacts inside Hendry's regime. He's got nothing now and he's proving he's an absolute blithering moron. Levine is a moron.
  9. @HardballTalk: Mark Prior reunites with Dusty Baker, signs with Reds uhhhhh, interesting.
  10. They're too Jewish. You're thinking of Wash U. SLU getting kept out of the new Big East would suck. Screw Creighton. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'm clearly ecstatic that Creighton is looking to be the 10th team, but I would rather see the league grow to 12 and have SLU in the league as well. SLU-Creighton has the writings of a natural rivalry.
  11. Carrie Muskat ‏@CarrieMuskat Athletic trainer checking on #Cubs Starlin Castro after he pulled up running to 1st. Castro coming out of game

  13. Ia. State fans apparently lost their {expletive} http://deadspin.com/5986921/after-loss-to-kansas-angry-iowa-state-fan-rushes-court-tries-to-confront-bill-self?utm_campaign=socialflow_deadspin_twitter&utm_source=deadspin_twitter&utm_medium=socialflow
  14. Elijah Johnson just hit another three.
  15. It looks like he needs to go poo real bad.
  16. Per Sports Whispers?
  17. Well you couldn't let Asik and Taj both walk. We already have no bigs that Thibs is willing to play after Noah-Boozer-Taj. So would you rather pay Asik or Taj? That's why I said that in the short-term, Taj makes the team better. But if they really feel like Taj, a very good bench player, is part of a championship core, then I'm really confused. I don't see how allocating $9.5m/year to a bench-player, defensive specialist is going to put this team over the top. Especially when you're seeing the current trend is teams going smaller, faster with lineups that don't feature a traditional PF and C. Just look at Miami putting LeBron at the 4, OKC with Durant at 4, Knicks with Carmelo at 4, etc. Let's face it, these are the teams the Bulls need to beat in order to win the title, and it's debatable as to whether Taj would even play in those crunch minutes.
  18. I don't blame him at all. He absolutely should have taken it...he deserved it. But Reggie Rose tried to pin all of the blame on the Bulls while making Derrick out to be the innocent superstar who's locked into dealing with nothing but inferior talent with no say in the matter. This was my point as well. I, and 99% of people, would have done exactly the same thing as Derrick did in accepting the contract, but it's kinda irritating to hear Reggie say that they're not bringing in people when Derrick's new contract has limited the Bulls' cap flexibility. Furthermore, the whispers on how Reggie has become to the possible fall guy for Derrick (whether that's true or not, we'll probably never know) kinda signals a red flag to me. As mentioned earlier, it still doesn't excuse the decision to extend Taj for that kind of money. To me, that almost goes against the "not going for it this year" because I don't see how Taj becomes a better player and it's questionable as to whether how much value he adds as the 3rd big for the next 4 years. In the short-term, there's no doubt that he makes the Bulls better, but how will this contract look in 3 years when we're trying to extend Kevin Love?
  19. I think Reggie is just taking the fall as the bad guy and this is what Derrick really thinks. Which is too bad, if true, because I think this team, if fully healthy, could beat the Heat at least once over the next few years if given the chance. could be, but that doesn't really sound like derrick rose. i think derrick rose is the guy who wants the challenge of being the guy who "single-handedly" wins a title with no superstars around him. didn't he get criticism for not calling lebron and generally choosing to not recruit other star players? i think rose would relish the opportunity to come back midseason, off a devastating knee injury, and go on a run with a team nobody thinks is good enough this year. I agree that Rose did think this way, but with so many whispers over the past few months about sitting out the season/needing more good players, maybe he's sick of looking up at the Heat. But I wish someone on the radio had called Rose's brother out on the fact that (a) the Heat were a result of their own player (Wade) trying to convince these guys for years to join him (Rose sent one text to LeBron) and (b) they all agreed to take less money to play together (Rose took the supermax which really hampers the Bulls' ability to make moves). Bingo. I think we're getting to the point where Rose needs to actively recruit and hype up Chicago, the city. And though I love him as a player, Rose's off the court decisions, to this point, have been a little concerning i.e. taking the Supermax (you really have to credit the Big 3 of Miami taking a pay cut) when already getting $200m from Adidas and with the team knowingly in a cap crunch, not recruiting other star players, having his f'in brother as his business manager. While I took a jab at him taking the supermax contract, it doesn't excuse the Bulls for giving Taj Gibson nearly $10m/year for his 7 points and 5 rebounds/game. I understand that Taj offers significant defensive value, but is he really going to get much better than what he already is and does Taj's 25 minute (?)/game position the Bulls as a title contender? Probably not on either account.
  20. Trout/Hamilton/empty grass Or add in Trumbo/Bourjos/Wells Trout/Hamilton/Campana would still be up there for best OF in baseball. ARM THE TEACHERS WITH CAMPANAS.
  21. How much longer until Minnesota is on the bubble? They've beaten Illinois and MSU in conference play, and that's about it, right?
  22. If some gritty, white guy said this, the meatballs would be in love with Castro.
  23. The Big Ten tourney is going to be nuts.
  24. You know, with the advancement of the internet as respects increased media outlets, I would have figured the average fan would be smarter as they wouldn't be subjected to the likes of Kaplan and Sullivan as their primary source of information. Unfortunately, much like Republicans watching Fox News, these meatballs only pay attention to the journalists meatballs that cater to their meatball audience. Stupid meatballs.
