  1. Keith Stone's latest: Highlighted my favorite part. The Cubs right now are 10th in projected SP WAR. Adding Darvish would likely added 2.2 wins to that projection (over the combo of Monty/Butler that they have as 5th starter right now). This would cause them to leap all the way to 4th behind Indians, Astros and Dodgers. They would have 3 starters with a projected WAR of 3.5 or higher, compared to the Dodgers (1), Astros (2), and Indians (2). Hendricks, Quintana and Chatwood are all between 28 and 29 years old. Hendricks proved last year that if he does regress from 2016, it won't be far. There is no reason to suggest Quintana is due to regress, and Chatwood doesn't have much of a strong track record to regress from at this point. So basically talking about Lester I guess.
  2. For any Brewers fans looking to make a 'yeah but...' rebuttal, TT is right about...well pretty much everything.
  3. They like to claim the 1957 Milwaukee Braves World Series. I was "burned" by a Brewers fan before the Cubs won with that piece of information.
  4. yeah but Theo is going to panic and offer up Bryant. Checkmate!
  5. lmaooo Wow, what a moron. I mean I don't doubt Stearns is a promising young GM, he's made some solid moves in a short period of time, but to think that he is outsmarting GMs with his genius never tried before strategy of leaking offers to media in attempt to raise price in the market is hilarious. Plus there's this other part of his logic that is all wrong: http://i.imgur.com/oAhA4YI.jpg Seems like Brewers fans think the Cubs believe they are in this arms race with Milwaukee and every move Milwaukee makes needs to be counteracted by a similar Cubs move. Not saying the Cubs don't look at the Brewers as a threat, but I highly doubt Theo is so concerned about the Brewers getting Darvish that he jacks up his offer, because OMG we cant let Milwaukee get him!
  6. This is true but we were rumored to be interested in Ross before signing Lester and the thought was that it was to lure Jon to the Cubs (or was a condition he had to sign). I remember the board thinking that we didn't need to sign Ross now that we've got Lester (since we already had Welly and Montero signed). Tweet from Rosenthal a week before Lester picked the Cubs: [tweet] [/tweet] I don't think anyone denies that Gimenez signing is clearly part of an effort to sign Darvish. The distinction I'm making is that because the signing of Ross came after the signing of Lester, we probably shouldn't use it to draw conclusions about what signing Gimenez means about the likelihood of signing Darvish. No if anything he’s a potential good defensive backup on a non-guaranteed deal (I think?) that happens to marginally make Chicago a more attractive destination for Yu.
  7. What’s funny is that I don’t even really think he was that popular with Cubs fans throughout 2015 and wasn’t until Bryzzo started their Instagram page for Grandpa Rossy during Spring Training of 2016 that his popularity really grew.
  8. As mentioned on the last page, Ross came after Lester was signed. 9. Isn't the Dodgers network still, after like 5 years, only available on 1 carrier that is only available to like 50% of the market? That would be awful if it happened with the Cubs. If the Cubs got as much money as the dodgers did (which resulted in them having this problem) I'd be good with watching them on MLB.tv and paying the $5 a month for a proxy Good point. I guess all that money would be worth trying to figure all that out.
  10. Is there something to be said for the Brewers trying to keep Darvish from signing with the Cubs for any kind of reasonable contract? Well also according to the Barstool guys, Darvish has been a Cub for a month so we're good there.

  12. Not going to go to the Brewer website but I guarantee someone is predicting they are making the offer so Theo is forced to make an outrageous rise in his contract offer.
  13. If only that Sterns guy up north wasn’t such a master manipulator we wouldn’t be in this mess
  14. People forget about that
  15. Well the bye week didn’t do much
  16. Can Stearns feign interest in Yelich and trick Theo into making another “dumb move”?
  17. I especially love the embedded video explaining Cubs (former) curses. It's like the entire page was designed to annoy Cubs fans.
  18. That's pretty funny. Never seen him do that before in a game. Was he upset about some non-call or something? click the link That was a very fun last few minutes of the quarter. bulls really took it to them. Of course the Dubs switched to another gear and are now pulling away but that’s ok. I love that the Bulls punched the Warriors in the mouth and made them make adjustments at halftime. Obviously they aren’t talented enough to go toe to toe with GS but at least they are a team that isn’t going to let you come to town and coast to a win either
  19. Yadi is butt hurt http://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/yadier-molina-claps-back-willson-contreras-cubs-cardinals-drama
  20. i think that was a 'charles the cat' rumor
  21. I'm reading the QB coach is still available. Oh...I thought I remember reading that Dave Ragone was going to be retained because of his relationship with Trubisky last season.
  22. What roles are still available on the offensive coaching staff? OC and QB coach are filled already which to me would seem like the only roles Bevell would consider. Maybe a generic "Assistant Coach" or something might work.
  23. Slightly deceiving. If they were in the pacific there would be 4 teams behind them in the standings. If they were in the east with that point totals they’d be in the playoffs. But yeah not a great season at all. 3 points out of a playoff spot and one of the teams ahead of them has 3 games in hand. All that said, go on one 8-1-1 run or something like that and they are probably on solid footing. Not saying it will for sure happen or anything but who knows. The real concern is Crawford. No one knows anything about why he’s on IR and recent comments from players suggest it might not be an injury keeping him out.
  24. 15 spots too low
