  1. You can merge with the big thread in a minute. I just want people to see this and not think we are talking about Nachos or something in the big thread
  2. Well he took OSU to the tourney in 9 of his 13 seasons, won 5 regular season Big 10 titles, 4 BTT titles and went to 2 Final 4s. So probably not bad but not sure what he did to cause the program to tank his last few years.
  3. Does PECOTA usually project teams to have 99+ wins? I feel like most of these projections rarely have teams pegged for more than 94-95 wins.
  4. Ok I’m officially throwing in the towel on the Blackhawks making the playoffs. They aren’t good but at least have a couple of decent young pieces.
  5. I didn’t use anything to determine he had a good season in 2016. I always go to fangraphs for stats So you brought up 2016 (incorrectly) being the best year of his career, justify it by saying you didn't feel like looking up his peripherals, and then reference his 2017 xFIP being better than his ERA. Got it. Yep that’s right. I said arguably and this is missing the point of the post. Your initial response was fine and I agreed with it.
  6. I did say arguably mostly because I didn’t feel like looking up his peripherals. what site are you still looking up stats on that doesn't have them and why aren't you using fangraphs for that I didn’t use anything to determine he had a good season in 2016. I always go to fangraphs for stats
  7. This is some...interesting math. Just depends how much weight you put into raw ERA...it was his lowest in his career, but there's obv a host of other factors that make a few other of his seasons more impressive. I did say arguably mostly because I didn’t feel like looking up his peripherals.
  8. Stop bumping old threads Oh wait, this is really from this offseason. Amazing
  9. I don’t get why people keep saying that. 34 for a starting pitcher is not exactly his peak but he seems like he fits the mold of a player who can still pitch very effectively well into his 30s. He is only 1 season removed from arguably the best year in his career. Last year was a down year but he also battled injuries for much of the year and he seemed to be stronger and more effective when he came back from his DL stint in Sept/October. In addition, his xFIP suggests he was better than his mainstream numbers suggest. He’s had seasons worse than last year and bounced back. I get it he’s in his mid-30s, is coming off a down year, and has a lot of miles on his arm. But I wouldn’t quite shut the door on Lester as a TOR pitcher just yet.
  10. It's crazy....the rumors have basically just died for most FAs from what I can see...I feel like guys like Yu are basically making their stand and are refusing to cave any more even if this drags on for another month.
  11. Yu, is that you? Bark twice if you're in Milwaukee
  12. And to compare to 2017, last year their projection was 51 WAR, although that was before the Soler/Davis trade Biggest differences between last year and this year are Bryant, Rizzo and Russell and the catcher position all project to be 1 win less and last year's pen was projected to be worth 2 wins (probably 3, maybe 4 with Davis), this year 5. Sign Darvish and this team is probably right on par with last year's team going into the season.
  13. This is Foles in HS running that exact same trick play
  14. How in the... https://twitter.com/shanecgiongo/status/196068570927607808
  15. Completely random but fun fact: The Miami/Florida Marlins will be playing their 25th season in 2018. In those 25 years, they have never spent a single day in first place during the months of July, August, September or October. The latest they’ve ever been at least tied for first is June 30th back in 2004. In the 2 years they won the World Series, they were never in 1st place later than April 11th.
  16. I went with the Sheffield waggle a lot. Before that I remember positioning my legs like Dawson used to. I did the Sheffield waggle. I remember watching a game and the announcers explained that it helped him time his swing and I thought that was pretty cool. I didn’t do Dawson but I did half jokingly like to do the bow legged Moises Alou stance
  17. Hello yeah, Urlacher made it into the HOF. Much deserved
  18. Anyone with kids has been there before Anthony
  19. I'm not sure that flying during the NBA draft when it was by far the most likely time for Butler to be traded is proof that you have some sort of major news happening voodoo when flying. (says the guy that loves to comment about things like 'team record when I attend games')
  20. Time to play this game again
  21. Yeah it will be interesting to see which side blinks first as we get closer to that date. If the big names are still unsigned when camps get under way, its going to get super interesting. And by super interesting I mean even more boring.
  22. Kris Dunn for MVP
  23. [tweet] [/tweet] Thank God, I always forget what station the Bulls are on when I'm in my car and too lazy to program it.
