  1. Then you don't really understand how baseball works, and you're going to generally not enjoy watching it. I’m convinced it’s worse this year. Again, I can't remember who it was but I remember reading something a few weeks ago that it is worse, in fact it was approaching a historically high variance between their hot and cold streaks. I tend not to get too worried about how things look in June, and I'm really not all that worried that much overall, but that particular thing does concern me a bit.
  2. Brewers fans greeting Cubs fans entering Miller Park
  3. This Mad Men Rally Gif thing is going to be awesome when they come back to win in the 9th Edit: And if it doesn't work, at least we got to look at Mad Men gifs right?
  4. Wasn't there some analysis going around that the 2018 Cubs had more extreme slumps and surges than the average team? I keep dismissing it as SSS nonsense but then we go through another long stretch of offensive ineptitude.
  5. The Cubs have scored 19 total runs over the first 26 outs of the game in their last 11 games and 15 runs from the 27th out on. I know this is major random sample size and I am not saying anything with this stat other than how frustrating it is to watch the Cubs over the first 2.5+ hours of every game recently. Just for visual sake here are their runs scored over the first 8.2 IP of a game during that stretch: 1 2 1 3 4 3 2 1 2 0 0 (so far today) And after 8.2 IP: 6 0 0 4 0 0 0 0 5 0 0
  6. To win the game they have to lose it. It's the only way
  7. WTF? Going 1-2 on the road against the Brewers to "fall" to 8-3 against the Brewers this year would absolutely not lead a lot of people to think that the Brewers are better. The few that would think that way for those reasons are not worth my time or consideration.
  8. They are being sporting. If the other team stuff hasn't managed to best them by the 11th inning, the Cubs feel like they have no choice but to bring dongs back into the equation.
  9. What is it with our catchers and their inability to throw to 1st on a dropped 3rd strike?
  10. Apparently for some reason there is going to be a Chicago Bowl Game in 2020 and it will likely be at Wrigley. https://www.postandcourier.com/sports/myrtle-beach-lands-college-football-bowl-game-for-report-says/article_4947baf6-6f14-11e8-a006-27f19b85f2af.html https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/wrigley-field-host-bowl-game-2020-ncaa-competition-committee/ It will likely be B1G vs. ACC Nothing like coming to Chicago in late December to play a bowl game.
  11. Damn you, take a heart
  12. Rahm pulled the city's bid as FIFA wouldn't guarantee that significant local financing wouldn't be required to host, or something of that nature. That sucks and looking at the potential host cities it will be a trek to go to any games. One that I’ll make but it will be inconvenient
  13. Good stuff. Why isn’t Chicago in consideration for a host city again?
  14. He did the Freaky Friday thing with Heyward We called him the right handed Votto when he’s actually the right handed Heyward
  15. Yeah that usually happens when the pitcher is normally shown to have no control
  16. I don’t like to make rash judgements less than halfway into season 1 but the Chatwood signing was disasterous
  17. Remember when KB hit a HR in extra innings at Miller Park? Yeah me neither
  18. Can I use this in my script for the ending of Major League 3? Sure but there already was a Major League 3
  19. Hypothetical question brought on by what just happened: 2 strike count no one on. Pitcher throws a wild pitch, batter appears to check. Catcher gets a new ball and then asks the 1st base ump whether he checked. Ump says he swings. Is this a live ball similar to a dropped 3rd? Does the catcher have to go and get the original ball or can he use the new ball the ump gave him to tag the batter out?
  20. Really bad Javy. I accept that he’s never going to have any sort of plate discipline but it’s like he’s completely give up even trying to work a count
  21. No matter how many times the shift occurs I never fail to get momentarily excited when I see a grounder go through the hole
