    When other teams call up guys from triple a to start against us they throw 6 shutout innings. When we do it they get shelled in the first inning

    I'm not...Riz has been a notoriously streaky hitter in his career. In April of last year he hit 1 HR in 18 games with a sub-.500 OPS and then immediately hit 5 in his next 9 games. Then later in June/July he had a 25 game homerless stretch, and also followed that up with a 5 HR in 9 game stretch. He then had a 25 game homerless stretch to end the season (though hit one in the tiebreaker game). In 2017 he had a 13 game stretch, a 1 HR in 22 game stretch, and then hit 1 HR in his final 27 games. 2016, a 1 HR in 23 games stretch, 1 HR in 35 game stretch, and finished the year with a 14 game homerless stretch (that led into a postseason slump that he broke out of mid-NLCS and finished the championship run strong). Not to say that this will make you feel warm and fuzzy about Rizzo, but that's just who he is. You always wonder in the middle of those HR hot streaks he has why he's never hit more than 32 in a season...well that's why. At some point in the very near future, he will break out of it and hit like 5 HRs in 9 games and all will be good.

    Anger about the trade aside, I’m happy Monty will almost certainly get a chance to start. He obviously has wanted to start for several years but was a team player and accepted lesser roles for multiple years Also thank GOD joe won’t have him to bring in against lefties

    I read today that the Cubs have committed 25 more errors than their opponents this year. Pretty pathetic that we’ve slipped in almost all areas since 2016

    I was going to post something about how we’ve gained 2 games on everyone in the division except the Cardinals this weekend but now the Reds have made a big comeback and the Brewers have a minor rally going (still down by 5 but 2 on)

    Russell was the number one minor league prospect at one point or damn close. I thought he was going to be great. But, he isn’t. I think he made it to 4th or 5th but as a SS his ceiling was a HOF comp. Pre-2015 BP ranked him 2nd and BA 3rd Schwarber was never higher than 19th but he rose through the minors so quickly he almost certainly would have been in the top 10 if he was still a prospect in 2016, possibly top 5
