  1. When you are talking about an 17 game sample it’s feasible for the Brewers without Yelich to outplay the Cubs by 1 game, especially since the Cubs have basically been a .500 team since early May. Well on June 1st the Cubs were a half game back of the Brewers, so what does that say about a team that again, just lost a top three player in baseball. And again over a 18 game span its perfectly feasible that the Cubs could be outplayed by the Yelich-less Brewers by 1 game. When you get down to that few games you open up the possibility of a lot of randomness. Especially when those 18 games for Milwaukee include 15 games against the Marlins, Padres, Pirates, Reds and Rockies (other 3 vs STL). If there were 60 games left, yeah of course the Yelich injury would basically be the end of the road for Milwaukee.
  2. I’d worry more about the team that’s gonna be 1 GB our playoff spot if we lose tonight you realize their only good player is now out for the year right? 3. Another opportunity to make up a game tonight. Need to figure it out quickly I’d worry more about the team that’s gonna be 1 GB our playoff spot if we lose tonight
  4. It’s just who they are - talented but flawed
  5. That sounds like something that may have lasting effects even after it’s healed. Hope not, rival or not you don’t like to see that happen.
  6. Rockies up 2-0 early but I’m pretty sure they had an early lead in every game of that 4 game series that they were swept in. Plus, Coors
  7. The story of this kicker Kaare Vedvik is crazy. He goes 6-6 on kicks in the first preseason game including 4 FGs (1 of them 55 yards) for the Ravens and drew a ton of trade interest from several teams including the Vikings and Bears. The Vikings trade a 5th rounder to get him and he flops, going 1-4 on FG the rest of the preseason and is cut. Somehow the Jets pick him up and make him their starting kicker for week 1, where he misses his oly FG attempt and an extra point in a game the Jets lose by 1 point. Now he's out on the street again.
  8. I don't know what made me think of this, but there are only 7 Cubs games left on NBCS Chicago ever. (9 if for some reason ESPN and FOX don't pick up 2 Cubs/Cardinals games later this month). Also 4 more on ABC-7 and the crazy one, only 5 games left in the 72 year relationship between the Cubs and WGN
  9. Geez 1 game and we're already convincing ourselves the Bears aren't going to be good this year? Don't get me wrong, last week was very discouraging but I'm not ready to give up on the team yet. We saw Tribusky make the same mistakes, this is what has me down on them and, as you said, is very discouraging. Yeah but while QB is supremely important in the NFL, I'm sure we can pare down the offense to be more conservative and letting our defense win us games. Not going to win us a Super Bowl but also not going to lead us to a 4-12 season where we are probably losing to the Broncos. But also this was maybe Mitch's worst game, with horrible O-Line play and really strange playcalling from Nagy. What I'm saying is, other than getting lucky with INTs, this was probably as bad as the offense can play. They've shown the capacity to play a lot better. Do be concerned abut Mitch long term, but don't think the offense is back to the John Shoop days.
  10. Saw this tibdit on Reddit:
  11. Tebow must have prayed for Marion Barber to inexplicably run out of bounds when the Bears were trying to run out the clock. This is how I envisioned that play unfolding:

  13. What are the conditions of the 5th round pick? For the Jordan Howard trade? I was looking at that last week and I couldn't find anything other than "Based on unknown performance metrics" Edit: Oh nevermind, I forgot there was a 5th too for the Mack trade. I think the conditions have been met
  14. Hope the Raiders aren’t decent this year. Really need that 2nd rounder to be an almost 1st rounder
  15. This is Starlin level of MLB debut
  16. Didn't he start yesterday? Whoops did he? I didn’t pay much attention to the game. So it was Fri and Sat he was out?
  17. No game thread yet so... Cubs are getting so horsefeathering weird about injuries. Stressing that Contreras taking 2 games off was planned and now he’s not in the lineup for a 3rd straight game so something is obviously up.
  18. [tweet] [/tweet] Didn’t expect this even with the rash of MI injuries.
  19. That seems really strange with 3 weeks left in the season when he can’t really make any major moves to help/hurt the team anyways. Gotta be more to the story here
  20. Yeah but it probably will. The Cubs will win 3-4 in a row soon and everyone will get excited again only for them to lose 3-4 in a row and everyone will get doom and gloom again. Been happening all year.
  21. Edith like stat that explains absolutely nothing except why weekends haven’t been as enjoyable lately The Cubs will be 1-8 in our last 9 games played on Fri, Sat or Sun
  22. After watching this all year do you honestly want to see any more of this team at this point. They are injured and bad. Yeah honestly, don’t give up on the team but man you shouldn’t be emotionally invested in this team to the degree it appears you are.
