  1. I miss the whole “take a lead, keep adding on, hold the opponent down, win the game” strategy
  2. I mean, that was the story with the cubs for the last 2 seasons a series win would have put them 7.5 up on the brewers with 40ish games to play. Instead they're one loss away from 3.5 The point was that at the time the Cubs had lost 1 game in a row and were tied in the middle innings of the next game
  3. Leadoff single and Rizzo is ahead in the count 3-2. Thought for sure at that point we were walking it off. But Rizzo hits one 350 feet to center, Javy grounds right into the shift, and Schwarber takes a strike looking. Cubs had a shot to win both games started by Mills and Rea and one swing last night and some weak bad luck hits allowed today and we lost them both. Hopefully we can win tomorrow. I’d hate to go into that 5 games in 3 days bizarre series on a 3 game losing streak
  4. Bad time for Jeffress to give up his first hit of the season
  5. Oof, just let KB swing when he’s ahead in the account.
  6. People were ready to bury him but he drew a fairly big walk against Hader yesterday and now this blast today.
  7. We really need to get KB and Javy going.
  8. Cubs Twitter: (Win 9 of 10 games): Cubs are back we are awesome! (lose a game): heh, guess we had to lose sometime but boy do we need a RH bat (Tied in the 4th inning of the next game): holy horsefeathers this team is falling apart and are foolishly not finishing off the Brewers when we had the chance Also I realize old school NSBB did this. I also realize that I sometimes did this lol
  9. lol, Dempster just happens to be riding by and gets the home run ball in BP
  10. I’m confused...so they are getting test results mid-game now? If you’ll recall, Senzel missed a few games the first week of the season because he was said to be ill, but tested negative for COVID. Given that it’s been 3 weeks it’s probably just a coincidence but still interesting.
  11. Weird to suggest he be more aggressive but with Schwarber on deck against a lefty and no obvious PH option, tough to see him get called out looking. He had no idea tonight. He could've closed his eyes and swung and done as well. Totally choked in the two most important situations of the game (and 0 for 5 with 4 K's total) Yep. He’s a streaky guy but when he’s off he’s really off. Hopefully a hot steak is around the corner
  12. Weird to suggest he be more aggressive but with Schwarber on deck against a lefty and no obvious PH option, tough to see him get called out looking.
  13. Cubs have lost 4 times in their first 17 games, and half of those losses can largely be attributed to Yelich, who otherwise has been a replacement level player this year. SMH
  14. Nice inning Kimbrel. He’s still having some issues with control and the 2nd out was hit hard but a lot of swing and miss stuff. On a side note, where the horsefeathers is everyone these days? I find myself going to twitter more and more in games because there’s so little discussion here. I know the board has really thinned out and it’s a really weird type of season but it’s crazy to see a close game like this only have 2 pages of posts. Come back people! I’d welcome a Schwarber Fan rant right about now!
  15. Guess KB wasn’t available off the bench after all unless Ross really wanted Phegley to face Hader with the bases loaded and 2 outs in a 1 run game
  16. It’s crazy that this is Game 17 and it’s the first game where we’ve been down a couple of runs late and trying to come back. All 3 of our losses so far were not close.
  17. Probably should have gotten more runs last inning. horsefeathers Yelich
  18. That was a rough AB for Javy. Hope he gets hot soon
  19. 12 straight scoreless innings for Mills. Impressive
  20. Yes but I guarantee you that if the Cubs had an unfortunate outbreak next week, the MLB would probably make them send South Bend to Chicago because they can’t afford any more teams missing 3 weeks of games. Crock of horsefeathers. Also why are they forcing the Cubs to play 2 doubleheader’s next week? The Cardinals are going to play 8 games in 5 days and they come to Wrigley twice this year. Make them play a doubleheader on the next series, and a second doubleheader the next time they come to town. They can make up the 3rd game if it’s needed after the season.
  21. Cubs are now 6.5 games clear of a playoff spot after 16 games played. Even with 8 playoff teams per league that is impressive. They also have the best record in baseball by 1.5 games now. I’m definitely getting 2016 feels with the amazing starting pitching, offense that wears down pitchers and great defense.
  22. Just when you thought scary 9th innings were a thing of the past
