  1. I thought “road team only allowed to hit home runs” was one of those quirky 2020 rules. Are we sure those runs will hold up?
  2. Lmao you can’t even make up how bad the Cubs are right now. This horsefeathers is hilarious. Latest act is AGAIN failing to score with the bases loaded and 0 outs I wasn’t planning on watching today to avoid negative emotions. Happened to check twitter and saw people buzzing about bases loaded, flipped on the game and now I have all those negative emotions I was trying to avoid
  3. There is actually news in here https://twitter.com/michaelrubinntp/status/1297566682928619526?s=21
  4. We draw some walks and slug some HR but this team can't horsefeathering hit. And Abreu hits the hat trick. This series has been depressing. They will hit. They will go through a week stretch where they will crush the ball and everyone will think the Cubs put it together again. But it’s the same team we’ve seen the last several years. Based on wRC+ the Cubs are about the 10th best offense in baseball since 2017 but I would guess they’ve underperformed that by a bit. If you score 10 runs in 10 straight games and score 1 run in each of the next 10 games, you are averaging 5.5 runs a game but you are probably 10-10 in those games. Conversely, if you score exactly 6 runs in each of the next 20 games, you are probably something like 15-5. Now no team is immune to streaks and slumps, that’s baseball. But it really seems like the Cubs peaks and valleys are larger than most teams. Wish there was a way to prove that.
  5. So umm Underwood is not a major league pitcher
  6. Update: White Sox - 11 Cubs - 0 I miss the excitement of a young emerging team. Almost makes me want the Cubs to do another gut rebuild
  7. This is why it was critical to win those games the pen almost blew early in the season. We needed to build a cushion and we did. Now we try to hang on with multiple glaring holes in our rotation, still iffy pen and an offense that has barely been touched for years despite being extremely streaky (albeit pretty good overall)
  8. Abreu just showed him how a real man hits it out to left center
  9. Just remember that the Cubs weren’t as good as the 13-3 start and they aren’t as bad as the 3-7 they will be since then if they lose tonight.
  10. This dude had a 5.38 ERA last year and gave up 4 runs in 2/3 of an inning in his only appearance this year. Should be a good gauge of how much of a full team offensive slump the Cubs are in.
  11. They either just completely suck or and bunch of guys and situational stats are due for some positive regression. Here is their OPS rank with the bases loaded each year since 15: 2020: 28th 2019: 4th 2018: 11th 2017: 2nd 2016: 15th 2015: 12th So yeah probably some positive regression coming. Still frustrating for now
  12. This...is something
  13. Sox don’t seem to be having trouble hitting homers today. Why are we?
  14. Lol, bases loaded 0 outs and the Cubs don’t score. This might be the worst Cubs game I’ve seen in awhile. Worse than the game in KC even
  15. Lester obviously gets lit up a few times a season even when things are going well. Hopefully he can recover into something passable because right now it’s a fierce battle between him and Mills for whose rotation spot Quintana gets. Oh yeah and Chatwood gave up like 10 runs in his last start too. Edit: ok that was hyperbole, obviously Mills is out of the rotation well before Lester. But still
  16. Did the Cubs think they had 2 off days in a row? Awful pitching, fielding and hitting so far tonight.
  17. Honestly makes me happy that 2 prominent Cubs posters may or may not have quit following the Cubs due to all the off the field horsefeathers. It shows that these actions do have an effect in the bottom line, even with non-casual fans, even if I personally don’t have the balls to quit.
  18. Can’t wait for Brewers fans to jump all over the Wrigley North line as if it wasn’t written for him to say in a Red Bull commercial
  19. Sorry Don...
  20. Iglesias just balked in the tying run in the bottom of the 9th. Of course that happens to the Cardinals, who are about to walk this off
  21. Great Kimbrel. 4 disastrous outings, 2 good ones in extremely low pressure situations and now we’re trusting him with the 9th again? I realize this is the 5th game in 3 days but it makes me super nervous.
