  1. Cubs fans watching Ross sit on his hands as Lester got knocked around: Then when he brought Winkler in after the rain delay, and immediately watched him give up a bomb to tie it: Then watching Osich stay in the game with a runner on 3rd and 1 out in the 10th instead of bringing Jeffress in: Jeffress finally into the game last night to close it out with nervous Cubs fans along for the ride
  2. Surely there is some Dodgers fan out there bitching about how bad the Dodgers suck at hitting with a 2-0 out.
  3. Really not a fan of walking Bell there
  4. lol...
  5. He’s listed at +2000 today on the betting site I checked. He actually just jumped into the top 10 today
  6. horsefeathers this Hayes guy. How the horsefeathers did he score on a dribbler to the pitcher
  7. He’ll be good from the bullpen for some reason.
  8. welp, division lead could be down to 2 if we can’t pull this one out
  9. Welp tie game How does Winkler have a horsefeathering job?
  10. This may be a fact that only interests me but.. with tonight's games, I'm pretty sure the NBA becomes the first professional sports league to play meaningful games in every month of a calendar year.
  11. Kyle Ryan scares the horsefeathers out of me
  12. Earth to David Ross, your pitcher is getting lit up and is about to complete blow a 5 run lead. Are you just going to leave him in to continue to be rocked?
  13. No question who Kenny Cosgrove is rooting for tonight
  14. Kuhl has a 2.52 ERA this year but a 5.35 FIP. Hopefully the regression begins tomorrow.
  15. Interested to know why, I don’t have a huge opinion either way
  16. Unsubstantiated rumor that the Bears are “very interested” in Fournette https://sportsmockery.com/2020/08/rumor-bears-very-interested-in-leonard-fournette/
  17. I feel bad because from all accounts Almora is a good dude, his teammates love him and his reaction to the foul ball incident last year still breaks my heart as it was so raw and genuine. But the dude sucks at baseball to the point where not even a 28 man roster is enough to hide him. Also if this is his Cubs goodbye, thank you for tagging up from first in The Game and for getting that huge hit to score Zo and tie the game in G3 of the 2017 NLDS. I still foolishly wonder if he’s fixable because that season he was actually a reliable bat against lefties to the point where I felt somewhat confident in that aforementioned AB
  18. It's interesting seeing the teams that were most active around the deadline. Teams like the Yankees, White Sox, Twins, Dodgers, A's, Astros made almost no moves. The teams that made the most are teams like the Jays, Reds, Padres, Phillies and Cubs. Outside of the Cubs, they are all teams that haven't made the playoffs in awhile and/or are fighting just to get in rather than trying to improve for the postseason. Which makes sense...teams like the Dodgers don't want to invest in rentals when they could be out of the playoffs in 2 games. But a team like the Jays wants to take advantage of a unique year to get in when they probably werent going to compete in a normal season.
  19. I didn't realize Maybin had a 127 wRC+ in 82 games last year. Maybe some life left in that bat.
  20. Yikes
  21. do you and UM realize you're talking about a sample of 6 innings? This is what happens: I see the Cubs trade for a reliever i only know at a very high level, I post the thread about it then go look up their stats and then dont think about things like sample size until later
  22. I mean honestly, he just needs to be healthy for the playoffs. Cubs are at 97% playoff odds per Fangraphs and while winning the division is nice, with the NL mostly mediocre and the playoffs likely to be played in a bubble (so no HFA), the only thing I'd be concerned about is avoiding the Dodgers. But even then it might not be bad to take your shot at the Dodgers in a 3 game series vs maybe having to play them in a 7 game NLCS. But yeah the fact that theres at least some tiny bit of doubt he may not be back before the playoffs, its certainly a concern.
  23. Geez, he's been pretty terrible this year but fairly reliable arm the prior 3 seasons Love this though: Too bad there are no LOOGYS anymore
