  1. He is looking like the most likely casualty when Steele is stretched out and ready which is very soon.
  2. Durant has proven to be a mercenary at this point so maybe if the Bulls have a promising couple of seasons and the Brooklyn thing falls apart he looks this way.
  3. I was actually just coming to post a Bleacher Nation article I just read about Wisdom, funny that this was bumped. Wisdom has been heating up lately and his K rate is going down. Good breakdown here: https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2021/08/05/watch-out-mlb-patrick-wisdom-is-making-some-big-time-adjustments/ I still dont see him as an everyday player on a contender but he's convinced me that he's a major leaguer. Maybe I'll be proven wrong about the starter thing.
  4. drunk fans who want to watch the games while they bet? That's why people still go to Vegas sportsbooks even though they can bet on their phones, or why people go to Cubs games at Wrigley even though they can watch the games at home. But you can watch the game while you bet...from your seat. If you want to watch all the games you bet on, there are roughly 98 sports bars in a four block radius that don't have a cover charge of a game ticket. I would assume the sportsbook wouldn't only be open during games (correct me if I'm wrong). Seems like there are a lot of people that would go to the sportsbook at Wrigley over some other place because its Wrigley

  6. Hey the Bulls had a 7 game win streak in Lavine's first year in Chicago which he didnt participate in because he was injured
  7. Yeah I haven't watched a ton of the games but I was surprised to see Lavine starting early on before the NBA Finals guys joined the team, and even after that seeing him play key crunch time minutes for the team. He continues to surprise. I wouldn't have believed it if you would have told me on the day we traded Jimmy that Lavine would be an all-star and playing key minutes in the Olympics. Thought his ceiling was a useful decent scorer.
  8. Not sure why they aren't calling up Deichmann. Maybe they feel like he still has some things they want to work on with him before they expose him to big league pitching, or maybe they are trying to prevent his clock from starting (lol), but I'd rather see him getting ABs every day than Johns5sdwtk6y Fargas
  9. I just can't get over Johneshwy Fargas. My brain refuses to see that as anything but a typo no matter how many times I see the name.
  10. I never went away. I've always felt that when a club is going good, no one person should get all the credit and when they're going bad, no one person should get all the blame. All World Series champions have to smart, willing to spend, healthy, and lucky. Epstein deserves credit for bringing together a group of guys who blended together and pulled off something that many of us old-timers didn't think we would ever see. The fact Hendry wasn't able to deliver a WS championship doesn't mean he is as horrible as some people portrayed him. Hendry was pretty damn bad. And granted some of it was him being hampered by the Tribune Company and Sam Zell's ownership (no idea how people can even muster a complaint about the Ricketts family and spending after dealing with that) but there's a reason Hendry didn't get a GM job after he was fired. Hendry was bad, but also a bit hampered by the mom and pop operation the Cubs were running at the time. I remember all the stuff when Theo took over about having the smallest FO, least number of scouts, still receiving season ticket orders by fax, etc. His biggest issue in my mind is that he failed to draft/sign and develop virtually any talent after Prior, Wood and Zambrano. Is that because they had lack of scouting resources? Or because Hendry hired a terrible scouting director that made mindblowingly bad 1st round picks? Or because the Cubs were not spending on the draft like other large market teams who were using exploits in the system to acquire ridiculous amounts of talent? My point is that there was a lot that went into his failure and I'm not convinced its entirely his fault (though a lot was)
  11. Not as exciting because the Cubs will probably suck but worth it for planning trips. Highlights: Boston comes to Wrigley for the first time in 10 years (the last 2 BOS/CHC series have been at Fenway) and the 3rd time ever in interleague play July 1-3. Similarly, the Cubs go to New Yankee Stadium for the second time ever (regular season at least) and first since 2014, and 3rd interleague road series against the Yankees on June 10-12 White Sox and Cubs go back to two 2 game series split up, but both in May Cubs open the season in Cincinnati with that stupid parade Cubs end the season at Wrigley against those same Reds
  12. Seems like a step in the wrong direction but whatever
  13. I think Rex Brothers doesn’t even deserve a spot on this gutted Cubs team. He’s now given up 2 ER in 5 of his last 6 appearances. Yeah yeah yeah tanking. But I’d rather tank and not watch this dude pitch
  14. So glad we kept Davies
  15. Cubs pregame show has an “exclusive interview” with Tom Ricketts coming up in a few minutes. I’m sure it will be a bunch of nothing Also Jed was interviewed pregame and basically apologized for his statements yesterday.
  16. I'm confused, did the Cleveland baseball team really announce their new team name without filing a trademark?
  17. What are some good advanced stats for NBA these days? I know VORP is often criticized, but I just looked it up and the Bulls have 3 of the 25 best VORP players from last year: 7 - Vucevic 23 - Lavine 25 - DeRozan Though if you look at WS/48 its worse: 26 - DeRozan 51 - Lavine 60 - DeRozan
  18. Definitely a bit worried about the line injuries. We sort of gambled on Jenkins being a day 1 starter and he hasnt been able to get a full practice in yet, which is critical for a rookie.
  19. I cant see him signing here. If they did sign him it would make it really really difficult to extend Lavine, and definitely unable to extend Lavine before he becomes an UFA I think the Lavine extension has sailed, unless Lavine is prepared to give up a ton of money to lock in now. Hell technically reach FA, but Bulls will still be able to offer the biggest max deal and I'm sure they will. I was reading that even with this move they can still get one done this offseason. I have completely lost track of how the CBA works so I cant do the math myself.
  20. I cant see him signing here. If they did sign him it would make it really really difficult to extend Lavine, and definitely unable to extend Lavine before he becomes an UFA. Much better to use him in a S&T to get a veteran defensive expiring big IMO
  21. This trade makes the 2023 first irrelevant IMO because it likely won't be a lottery pick. 2025 might hurt but whatever. Hording draft picks is a GarPax thing, and we just did it for 4 years and got Lauri, Carter, White and Pat Williams. People on the radio are arguing that we just built the same type of team that we all wanted blown up when Butler was here, but that Bulls team was really really hollow with no strong assets outside of Butler. Build a winning culture with this team and put yourself in a position to land a superstar if one is out there and wants to come here.
  22. Who is better than the Bulls in the East now? Brooklyn, Milwaukee, Heat, 76ers then Bulls? Celtics rebound maybe?
  23. Will be really interesting to see what happens with Lauri. I would assume if the Bulls signed him they wouldnt be able to sign Lavine to an extension. So it will probably be a S&T. If so, I hope we get back a veteran defensive big to replace Thad Young.
