  1. Didn't play much because the defense sat on the field most of the time. Not sure how many starters the Titans were actually playing and for how long. He looked good the last drive but everyone was likely out by then and was aided by penalties. I think most decent NFL QB's can torch these backups in preseason, it's why I put little stock in preseason. Nick Foles is doing it now. Probably shouldn’t put any stock in preseason like you said but the 1st and 2nd teams getting noticeably destroyed in TOP in all 3 games is interesting
  2. I am at a BBQ and thought I was recording the game but just realized it didn’t record. How did fields look overall?
  3. Well at this point, I'm expecting Cohen to be PUP and out the first 6 weeks at least. Haven't heard any update. I think Byrd and Goodwin are fine as replacements for Miller. While Miller showed flashes he was pretty inconsistent, didn't seem terribly smart, and has continually had shoulder issues. Not expecting much from Adams, but if Fields is a star we'll eventually get to regularly experience that thrill of no name WR becoming household names and solid contributors. Even with Cohen still out, the RB room looks deeper too. Really I think all the skill groups got deeper. It's on Kmet and Mooney (and perhaps Montgomery) to elevate their games to improve the high end. I'm very high on Mooney personally. Less so on Kmet and Montgomery, but if one of those 3 had a huge breakout year, the other two would be fine as is, probably. Goodwin was solid with SF - when healthy. Im actually pretty excited to see him play and am fine with him as a number 3
  4. I wonder how many teams in history have lost 2 games where they scored 6+ runs in the first.
  5. Cubs need all 3 this weekend to retain the Crosstown Cup. Wisdom hit a 3 run HR in the first so the Cubs are up 3-0. It was a 441 ft bomb
  6. The Cubs and Rockies sure play a lot of strange games at Wrigley
  7. What is more likely, this motivates Ricketts to spend big or it causes him to be even more cheap since he can count on 30k+ a night anymore?
  8. Do they go to extra innings rules in the 8th or only in the 10th?
  9. I mean we’re only 13.5 out of WC2. Anything can happen Edit: Sorry I jinxed it
  10. Wait, we won a home series? After winning a road series? (oh wait there was another series in between) Is this what success feels like? Can we sweep the Sox this weekend and keep the Crosstown Cup?
  11. It's funny that despite going almost a month without a home win, the Cubs still have a winning home record for the season.
  12. I just can't allow myself to do that. The neighborhood kids are all now becoming Sox fans and saying the Cubs suck because in their tiny insignificant lives their worldview is whatever is cool now. 2 years ago, all the neighborhood kids had Cubs shirseys on. While ultimately I'll let them root for whoever they want to, I'm going to try my hardest to steer them to my teams before they get old enough to think its cool to like whoever their dad hates.
  13. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2020/10/02/chicago-bears-told-patrick-mahomes-he-was-top-quarterback-choice-2017-nfl-draft-mitchell-trubisky/ If that's true, how the horsefeathers are any of you still Bears fans. Response from a comment on the article:
  14. You should be able to edit the OP like any other post. When you do that, you can change the thread title as well. Davies G1 and Steele G2. Interesting that the games are back to back meaning the Cubs are foregoing a game worth of ticket revenue for this DH. I guess there goes any big FA signings this offseason. Foregoing ticket revenue. What an adorable concept. This is a split doubleheader, 1:20 and 5:30. Weird because the last DH was 1:20 and 7:05. I figured since they were bunched closer together that they were one admission. Of course why wouldn't the Ricketts pass up a chance to charge full price and give the fans 7/9ths of what they paid for?
  15. Wait what. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2020/10/02/chicago-bears-told-patrick-mahomes-he-was-top-quarterback-choice-2017-nfl-draft-mitchell-trubisky/
  16. I somehow missed the story about Mahomes being told by the Bears that he was their top QB choice before the draft and how Mahomes assumed on draft night that he was going to Chicago. Between that and Watson never meeting with the Bears (less angry about this now after we learned what a POS he is), Pace colossally fucked that up in a historically awful way.
  17. Javy’s trash. Cubs could go dumpster diving for him as a FA He's probably going to end up being worth 3 wins this year which isn't great but not terrible for a high profile FA but honestly isn't that far off from contemporaries like Corey Seager (only full season since 2017 was 2019 and he was worth 3.3 wins. Currently worth 1.4 fWAR in 260 PA this year), and Trevor Story (2.5 wins in 40 more PA than Javy who is at 2.1). Only Correa (4.7 fWAR this year) stands head and shoulders above the rest. If other teams prioritize the other 3 before Javy than he may be able to be had for less than expected, and in that case the Cubs should be in prime position as there seems to be at least some mutual affinity. That is assuming that the Cubs themselves are not in the mix for the other 3 of course. But yeah I think Javy is appreciated over time. Javy fell into the perfect situation with the Cubs where, despite being a high profile prospect was not needed to be a savior or even a top 3 bat on the team. While he struggled in 2014 and early 2015 he was given all the time in the world to figure things out and then once back on the team was eased into a starting role. Other top 10 prospects don't always have that luxury. With the expectations a little lower fans were able to appreciate the little things that Javy brings to the table and come to accept that the trade off is that his game comes with holes. I can imagine that moving midseason to another team in a gigantic media market is not the best situation to endear himself to fans.

  19. Thought this was interesting. No idea if this the route they will go but would be interesting to see the Cubs sign a bunch of vets to 1-2 year contracts with the intent to sell and further ramp up the farm system.
  20. This hurts https://imgur.com/nt9HMca Mets were flying home from LA
  21. Why Your Team Sucks: Chicago Bears 2021 Edition you can bypass the paywall if you open incognito, but defector is worth paying for imo. This one hurt in multiple ways:
  22. Walk off homer is a great way to end the home losing streak. They still play Go Cubs Go at Wrigley
  23. Lotta munchies for GEOVANY SOTO
  24. Depending on what the offer was, I would have strongly considered this
  25. Meanwhile the Orioles just lost their 18th in a row, getting blown out in most of those games. Not fair, the Cubs can't even be the worst team in baseball.
